Have any of you considered how much tax is generated by a single dollar bill over it’s life? If anyone knows will you please let men know? Say I make $1 a day. Out of this dollar I pay taxes. First right off the top is Federal Income Tax, FICA, State Income tax, and Local Option tax. I’m probably forgetting something here (remember I haven’t had a check in 3 years now. Then we have State sales tax, property tax, excise tax, wheel tax, we pay sales tax on anything we buy except some food. We have gas tax, NOT just STATE, FEDERAL, (don’t forget the sales tax here too) and we have road tax. There are probably, I’ll bet taxes we do not know we pay. So now you take all these taxes on my dollar, multiply it by everyone who gets my dollar. Because they have to pay these same taxes. You know I think could retire on the tax that only one dollar makes. That Is How I See It. they have Views: 151

Is Bin Laden Dead?
I wonder if Bin Laden is really dead. Or has he been dead for sometime? several years ago psychic Sylvia declared “Bin Laden is dead”. Now Obama says Osama is dead. Which is right. For you conspiracists out there. Doesn’t it make you wonder? We know that these leaders like Bin Laden, Castro, and Hussein all have doubles out there. Scenario 1: We all know Obama needs a boost right now. What if Obama said to Osama I need a big boost right now. I know you are tired of running. Let’s do this. I will send a group of my military in, we kill one of your doubles, dispose of the body rapidly so no one will be able to get any proof positive it isn’t you. Osama says, sounds like a win -win situation to me. Let’s do it. Scenario 2. Sylvia Browne was right. Osama has been dead for some time. Obama repeats the same as in scenario 1, but with one of the current leaders. They say OK it will help you fool the people of the free world into thinking you did something. OUTCOME. The same. I think (I admit I know little about their religion) the Muslims believe people are to be buried in a 24 hour frame after death. So why the rush to bury him at sea. Where he can not be dug up and DNA tests, and other tests made. That is my question. No real proof it was Bin Laden. I hear they did a DNA test that matched his sister’s DNA. BUT if they had hers could not they have used hers, or another close relative to make matching DNA’s? I think there had to be a body to fool the soldiers. BUT. Was it the real Bin Laden? Maybe it was. How will we ever know? That Is How I See It. several years they have Views: 121
Local Government Waste
As you may recall, in a previous post “Dying Cities/ Towns”, (posted February 2, 2011), I was telling how a once busy city is now dying. Now from the same area, I have received word of more government waste that contributes to the fall. It is in the state mentioned in April 15, 2011 post titled, “Property Tax Capped/ Raise Rates. This once bustling city, has fell on hard times with the loss of most of it’s major employers. But the latest DUMB thing. Are you ready for this. The local primary election is coming up in May. Actually I think it being held today. As I, most likely, told you this county is primarily Republican, and will blindly vote for anyone who is Republican, with few exceptions. (As I have stated in other posts I am neither Republican, nor Democrat. I do not see any place for politics in government). In case there are a few people who do not know the purpose of a primary election, it provides all Republicans to vote for who will run on the Republican ticket in the fall, for the various offices. It also allows the Democrats, the same opportunity. Those of us who affiliate with no party are left with whoever they pick. Guess what. All candidates of both parties, are running against NO ONE, Uncontested. HOWEVER, the county is going to spend about $20,ooo.oo to hold this unnecessary election. WHY! The county does not want anyone to feel they did not have a chance to vote for their favorite candidate. LOL. Perhaps it is just me. Maybe I am the dumb one, (most likely), but does anyone see anything being accomplished for this $20,000.oo? I’ll bet they have a big turn out. Don’t you? Oh well it is just $20,000.oo, I’m sure they could not find a better use for that drop in the bucket. BREAKING NEWS. It appears in the election mentioned they had a 5.57 % turnout to vote for their favorite, unopposed candidate. Which according to my calculations cost the taxpayers $39 a vote. But at least those 517 people got to vote. That Is How I See It. they have find find find Views: 114
Court Sentences.
I was just reading over some of the recent court documents, for my county. This is what I found. All sentences were issued during the same week. MONDAY; Female age 19 . Theft. Class D Felony., One year in prison. All suspended but Four days. Credit given for two days already served. Why sentence to One year, if the actual sentence is merely four days. Just say a Four day sentence for a Class D felony? Male age 50. failure to register as a sex offender, Class D felony. One year, six month with credit for 180 days already served. So he gets a one year sentence. Assuming he gets good behavior credit for the 180 days served, (which is usually 1 day for each day served). Equals 270 days credit. Which in turn means he has credit for 270 days. Which leaves him 275 days in jail. Assuming good time credit for time he will spend in jail he will serve 137 days, or 4.5 months in jail of a 1 1/2 year sentence. TUESDAY Male age 32. Domestic battery Class D felony. Criminal confinement, Class D felony. Intimidation. Class D felony. Sentenced to 3 years in prison with credit for 163 days served. Female age 43. Theft, Class D felony. Sentenced to ONE (1) day, with credit for 1/2 day served as a Class A misdemeanor. WEDNESDAY Male age 28. Attempted dealing in methamphetamine. Class B felony. Neglect of a dependent. Class C felony. Two counts of aiding in theft. Class D felony. Ten years in prison with credit for 89 days earned. Thursday Female age 23. Possession of methamphetamine. Class D felony. Ssentenced to a year and a half in prison. ALL suspended. WHAT? Why bother to sentence her? Female age 26. Neglect of a dependent, Class D felony sentenced to ONE day in prison with a HALF day credit earned. Male age 56. Criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon. Class D felony as a Class A misdemeanor, Sentenced to 180 days in prison with all but TWO days suspended. Does any one see a trend here? Very small sentences, (in the end). For felonies. I remember reading about a man many years ago in Texas who received a life sentence for stealing a 5 cent candy bar. Do these small sentences curtail future crimes.? Probably not. Property Tax Capped? Raise Rates
Our state implemented a 1.1% cap on property taxes about 3 years ago. The 1.1% is of appraised value. (You have to watch what the governments appraised value is. The last time they appraised my property at 2 times the market value. I had to pay for a private appraisal, and file for a hearing to get the proper appraised value). Anyhow, the people were happy with the cap. After all the government had previously did away with business inventory tax, not to mention the tax abatement that big business received. Finally, We The People, were receiving some relief from the higher taxes we were paying to offset the breaks business was getting. WRONG!! it was just announced in our local paper the County Government has decided, (now get this). Due to the many foreclosed homes, and the decreased value of property, it is deemed necessary to raise the tax rate. That means the assessed value tax stays at 1.1% we just pay a higher rate on that 1.1%. We were paying “$ X” per $1000,oo appraised value. Now we will pay #$ 2X” per $1000.oo appraised value. “Gotcha again” says the Government. That Is How I See It. Views: 133
Family Costs of Prisoners
Many of you probably buy into the Government and Media portray life in prisons. Free food, free lodging, free gym, televisions, computers, and a number of other things. Think again. I recently talked to a family with a member in prison. This is what I learned. Travel time for the children to visit their father, (all agree he is a very good father). They understand why he is there. But travel time is approximately 2.75 hours each way. Although there are facilities within 1 hour or less. At the current price of gas $3 plus, and at 26 mpg. the cost for gas alone is about $30 x 2 times a month equal $60 a month just for gas. But that is probably the smallest cost to the family. They can not call him. He has to call them. (when the prison officials decide it is okay. Very sporadic. When he calls it has to go through a company contracted by the prison. These calls usually cost approximately $5 to connect and 80+ cents a minute. An average call can cost about $21 one call twice a a month equals $42. Add the phone calls to the trips and you have $102 a month. (The prison also makes money on this deal). Then you have the television thing. In order to have a TV, it must be BOUGHT from the prison. They saved money to buy him a TV. A little over $300 for as described you can buy at Best Buy for $89. What does this teach the inmate. Take advantage of people whenever possible Food. The food served is low grade and barely meets the Required Daily Allowance. Usually served very bland as they have to watch diets for all prisoners. If you are like me there are certain foods I will not eat. I’m sure the prisoners are the same way. So you do without. They do have a commissary where prisoners can buy hot plates and food to fix in their cells. All this at HIGHLY inflated cost. An example would be a can of HORMEL chili. You have seen them the individual serving type like you open and microwave for lunch. Only there they cost about $5 each. A candy bar may cost you between 60 cents and $1, there they pay may pay anywhere from $1.25 to $2.00. All this, mind you, the prison is making money on. So you would not want your family member to do without these little things, so you deposit money in their account, to purchase these things. Want them to write you? You guessed it you have to send money for paper, envelopes, pens, or pencils, and postage. At an inflated rate. Then they usually don’t put enough postage on the letter and you have to run to the post office to pay extra. Now here is the real kicker. Although you pay for the TV and other things. The prison officials have the right to confiscate any and all thing in a cell at their discretion. One family has bought at least 3 TVs, They don’t get them back. Where did they go? To wrap up. You can see it is the family who pays for all these things, not the CITY, COUNTY, STATE, or Federal government. The family is being ripped off, just to provide a few comforts. And don’t think you wouldn’t do it. If you were in their place you would too. It is only human nature to care for family. Unless your family is disfunctional . What does this teach the inmate. Cheating people is OKAY if you have authority. That Is How I See It. Views: 274
Will the Real Mitch Daniels Please Stand Up
Indiana’s Governor Mitch Daniels is considering a run for President of the United States. This is the same Mitch Daniels, if memory serves me right during his time in our nations capital, was told the levees in Louisiana needed repair. Said no they are OK. (I could be wrong, but that is what I heard on a news cast). The great mind who thought Indiana which was originally in the Central Time Zone, should observe Atlantic Time during the summer, thus putting Indiana 2 hours ahead of the sun. So I have put 2 pictures up here for you to compare. One was born in 1952. The other in 1949. Both are 5 foot 7 inches tall. One is MITCHELL DANIELS. of Indiana. he other VLADIMIR PUTIN of Russia. Separated despite the age difference “At Birth”? (So to speak) Maybe later in life. Will the real Vladimir Putin stand up. That Is How I See It. Views: 389
High School Sports Pay To Play
Want to play sports in Middle, or High School? Cough up the DOUGH! It seems schools are trying to eliminate sports from the learning process. they have found a new avenue to this means. MONEY. Pay to play. With unemployment so high, gas prices out of sight, and the economy in general, the states have less tax money so cuts must be made. What to cut? Schools are in the business of book learning. Te academics in charge of schools feel sports is not a learning experience. If it isn’t in the books WE approve, it is not worth learning. Most of you know sports teach the things we need to work with others, and get along. Things you can’t learn in a book. Team mates are not only mates on the field, court, or track. Real team mates are also mates in academics, and in many cases this is a lifelong friendship. I know some of the people on teams are just a member of the sports team. But if you are a REAL TEAM MATE, you will help your other members. A team mate is having trouble in English, some one on the team will tutor him, work with her. A team mate is having social, mental, or emotional problem, A real team mate will be there to help them in any way they can. Can you learn this in a book? Now in some school districts the Academics, have decided to impose a fee on sports. One district I know of has chosen to impose a fee of $170.oo per sport, per student. Pretty much eliminating the economically depressed students. Imagine you have, say one boy and one girl. Your son plays basketball, and baseball. That is $340.oo plus the other expenses such as, sales, and meals, to earn money to support the particular sport. Your expense to get him to and from practice, (even if he drives himself you are probably paying the expense or some of the expense for that car). Your expense to follow his games, and eating out before or after the game. Concessions at the game. Your daughter plays tennis, and soccer? That is another $340.oo plus all of the other above mentioned expenses. We all know if you are a real stand out athlete some one will cover you expenses. But how many of our children are a LeBron James, or Peyton Manning. How many potentially great athletes or leaders will be left behind because their families can’t afford that $170.oo. Why not charge our students, for each class they take, or a fee for school clubs, etc? That Is How I See It. Views: 791
Time for National Anthem Change?
In light of all the criticism of how the ‘STAR SPANGLED BANNER” has been performed and questioning if it is appropriate for sporting events. I think it is time to consider a change. The “STAR SPANGLED BANNER ” is a war inspired song. A poem set to the tune of an old ENGLISH drinking song. Very hard to sing. (I suppose if you were in an English Pub and had been putting down a few pints. It would not matter). Besides the “STAR SPANGLED BANNER”, only pertains to a single battle, long ago in our history. My preferred replacement song would be ” GOD BLESS AMERICA”. This is often sang at sporting events in lieu of the “STAR SPANGLED BANNER” and I think it better fits the thoughts of our founding fathers as they created this great country. I know you have the minority atheists who would complain because they want to kick GOD out of America. But it still fits our roots much better, and doesn’t sound so war like. I don’t think the U.S.A. really wants to sound like we are a warring nation. My SECOND choice is “MY COUNTRY TIS OF THEE” Which served as our unofficial National Anthem prior to the adoption of “STAR SPANGLED BANNER”. I, for one do not like change. I like tradition. But in my search I found that of many years as a Nation, “THE STAR SPANGLED BANNER’ has only been our National Anthem since March 3, 1931. By Congressional Resolution. A short span in our history. How do you feel? Is it time to get a more appropriate National Anthem? One that better reflects the Ideals of the United States of America. That Is How I See It. Views: 228
State Looks to Raise Gas Tax
Our state. like most states, is looking for more money. With our unemployment above 9%. Where do you go. The solution they think of is raising GAS TAX. Earlier our Government was telling us to combat high prices drive less. Then we had the clunker thing. (All that accomplished was taking many a vehicle the lower income people could afford to buy and do necessary travel), out of service. Now Our State Servants, have an attitude of: if we need money add taxes, or increase taxes, or somehow get the people pay for it. An Aside here. I just looked and our Servants in the state capital make in excess of $30,000 a year for about 2 months of service. Not bad for a part time job. Any way now with less gas sales due to the economy, and as I see it Price Gouging by the greedy oil companies. Price in our state is now, as I write, is $3.55 9/10 a gallon for regular. We pay sales tax on gas at the rate of 7% (supposedly pre-tax STATE and Federal), we don’t know for sure as it is figured in at the pump. We presently pay 18% a gallon State tax. With 18.4% Federal tax. I’m not a mathematician so I won’t TAX my brain to figure out what the untaxed price of gasoline is. Just guessing total tax Federal what 65 cents, a gal. and about the same for State. That takes the price to what about $2.25 per gal. which would make us paying about 15 cents per gallon sales tax. Hmmm. Looks to me like the Government is making more per gallon than the dealer. So right now it appears that our State government is making about 80 cents a gallon from taxes. That with no expenses. I say no expenses but the dealer gets maybe a penny or two for collecting the sales tax. Will our state be satisfied making $1.00 a gallon. That would be about a 20 cent hike in taxes. Like I said our state likes taxes. You pay tax on everything you buy, rent, use, sell, earn, we even pay sales tax on every game we bowl. Use less gas. Pay more taxes per gallon. Combat greedy oil companies use less gas, they raise their price so they can live the high life at our expense. To me we taxpayers are in a no win situation. Government and Oil Companies are going to maintain their profits plus, regardless of the hardship it brings the people. Perhaps the hardest people hit by this is the people out of work and the retired person who has lost his savings due to the economy. For these people it is like locking them in their homes. Limited income will only stretch so far. When gas prices rise, so do prices of food, and about everything else. The increased cost of production and transportation has to be absorbed somewhere, (we the consumers). Oh and a bonus for the STATE increased price means more sales tax money. That Is How I See It.
