For those of you who are new here. This is how confidence ranking goes, let me explain. If we were playing an office pool,(which we ARE NOT). The object is to score the most points. To obtain the score YOU rank the teams by how confident you are a team will win its game. EXAMPLE: Say this week we have 16 games. The team you are most confident will win you would assign the number 16 and follow down to the team you are least confident in and assign that number 1. You add up the TOTAL CORRECT PICKS.. That would be your score. We use the Monday night (Last game played) as a TIE BREAKER. The tie is broken by the closest to the total (that is the COMBINED score of the two participating teams) final score, without going over. YOU can adopt the scoring described above. Or, the optional method. A negative score for missed games. We will continue to get a positive score for correct predictions. EXAMPLE: if you scored 1 pt on the first game and you had 15 pts on the second game and lost you would still have 1 pt. 1. HOWEVER. with the same scenario new scoring system would result with a –14 score If we were playing this is how my sheet would look; My pick will be in bold Capital letters. you can use circling, underlining, or highlighting. I will show my correct points in Bold I will fill in my picks Thursday. Until then feel free to: Just copy and paste for your own Fun Pool Use. Or to see if you can beat me. Dynamic Kickoff NFL clubs amended Rule 6 to modify and make permanent the new form of free kick play implemented in 2024. The play is designed to: ALIGN players on both teams closer together and restricting movement to reduce space and speed. Promote more returns. 2025 modifications to the existing rule include: Modifying the alignment requirements for receiving team players in the setup zone so they may have a maximum of three players in the setup zone not on the restraining line, but never more than one player in each of the three areas within the setup zone bordered by the sidelines and inbounds lines. Changing the dead ball spot after a touchback to the 35-yard line if the ball lands in the end zone and is downed in the end zone by the receiving team or goes out of bounds behind the receiving team’s goal line. Allowing teams to declare an onside kick at any point during a game as long as they are trailing their opponent, as opposed to only in the fourth quarter. 2. Overtime Procedures NFL teams adopted to align the postseason and regular season overtime rules by granting both teams an opportunity to possess the ball regardless of the outcome of the first possession, subject to a 10-minute overtime period in the regular season. This amendment was proposed by Philadelphia 3. Instant Replay Assist NFL clubs voted to amend Rule 15 to expand Instant Replay’s ability to advise the on-field officials on specific, objective aspects of a play and/or to address game administration issues when clear and obvious video evidence is present. This amendment was proposed by the Competition Committee. NBA Vs WNBA PLAYER PAY
I was wondering about WHY the WNBA players were constantly complaining about the pay they receive compared to the money NBA players make. (I say “make” instead of earn because, although they make their living this way, IT is still a GAME. In my day we played a game because we had fun, and enjoyed playing basketball. I would play any time, any place all day long. To be paid for it was just a bonus.). Early NBA players played pretty much the same way. Many had second jobs, (as do the WNBA players), to supplement their life expenses. Now they do not play BASKETBALL. They play a different game. Made up of some REAL BASKETBALL RULES, but a great many new rules, to make the game easier, and make more money for doing it. But I digress. Back to the title subject I figured the reason the ladies didn’t make the same money as the guys, was because the WNBA doesn’t generate the income as the NBA. But after looking into the situation more closely I found a real reason for the complaint. It appears to me now a valid reason. So here is what I found that changed my mind. Here’s how the NBA and WNBA compare in terms of league income and what players earn on average, based on the most recent reliable data: — League Revenue & Player Pay: NBA vs. WNBA Revenue Share for Players In the NBA, players receive approximately 50% of league revenue under the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) . In contrast, WNBA players currently get only about 9.3% of the league’s revenue—far less than their male counterparts . Some sources mention a higher—though conditional—share of around 20%, tied to surpassing revenue targets , but the widely accepted figure remains 9.3%. — Average Player Salaries NBA Average NBA salary is around $11.9 million per year . Other sources estimate about $9.6 million . WNBA The average WNBA base salary in 2025 is approximately $102,249 . Some higher-end estimates place it closer to $147,745 . Current salary range (2025): Minimum ~$66,000, Maximum ~$249,000–$252,000 . — Summary Comparison Category NBA (approx.) WNBA (approx.) Player Revenue Share ~50% ~9.3% Average Salary $9.6M – $11.9M $102K – $148K Salary Range (Min–Max) ~$1M – >$50M ~$66K – ~$252K — Key Takeaways Huge financial resource gap between leagues explains much of the pay disparity. Structural disparity persists, as WNBA players receive a much smaller share of revenue despite growing league popularity . The WNBA is actively negotiating a new CBA, seeking better revenue sharing and salaries in response to record attendance, rising media rights deals, and player advocacy . Views: 6

2025 SEMI FINAL GAME DUKE Vs HOUSTON AS I SEE IT
Clash of Titans: Duke vs. Houston – A 2025 NCAA SEMI- FINAL Showdown for the Ages By Artie Fichal On April 5th, 2025, under the bright lights of State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, the college basketball world witnessed an unforgettable battle between two powerhouse programs: the perennial blue-bloods, Duke Blue Devils, and the defensive juggernauts, Houston Cougars. A game filled with shifting momentum, individual heroics, and tactical brilliance, this national championship became an instant classic. Let’s relive every heart-pounding moment from tip-off to final buzzer. Pregame Hype and Background Coming into the game, both teams had cut through their brackets with authority. Duke, led by sophomore phenom Jalen Blake Jr. and coached by Jon Scheyer in his third full season, had taken down Kansas and Tennessee in a ruthless path to the Final Four. Their mixture of five-star talent and deep bench rotation had them clicking at the right time. Houston, on the other hand, came in with a chip on their shoulder. COLLEGE TRANSFER PORTAL AND NIL AFFECTS ON SPORTS
The NCAA transfer portal, introduced in 2018, has significantly reshaped college athletics by providing student-athletes with a streamlined process to change schools. This system, combined with the advent of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) rights, has led to increased player mobility and altered the dynamics of college sports programs nationwide. IMPACT ON COLLEGE ATHLETIC PROGRAMS The transfer portal has facilitated a notable increase in athlete transfers across various sports. In 2022, approximately 13% of all Division I student-athletes entered the transfer portal, with 7% successfully transferring to another NCAA program. Specifically, men’s basketball saw 1,649 athletes enter the portal, with 1,123 securing transfers to other NCAA schools . This heightened mobility has prompted athletic programs to adapt their recruitment and retention strategies, placing greater emphasis on both incoming transfers and the development of existing talent. TRANSFERS MOTIVATED BY NIL OPPORTUNITIES The introduction of NIL rights has allowed college athletes to monetize their personal brands, influencing transfer decisions. While precise data on the percentage of athletes transferring primarily for enhanced NIL opportunities is limited, anecdotal evidence suggests that financial incentives play a significant role. The transfer portal has become a tool for athletes to seek better NIL deals, with some using the possibility of transferring as leverage to renegotiate terms with their current institutions . IMAGINED FUTURE 0F COLLEGE SPORTS The combination of the transfer portal and NIL rights is expected to continue transforming college athletics. Powerhouse programs may strengthen further by attracting top talent seeking better exposure and financial opportunities, potentially diminishing the prevalence of “Cinderella” stories in tournaments. For instance, the 2025 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament’s Sweet 16 featured only teams from power conferences, a shift attributed to the transfer portal and NIL deals consolidating talent at wealthier schools . This trend raises concerns about competitive balance and the evolving nature of college sports. COACHES’ OPIONIONS ON THE TRANSFER PORTAL Coaches have expressed mixed feelings about the transfer portal. While some acknowledge the benefits of increased flexibility for athletes, others are concerned about roster stability and the challenges of team building. The ease of transferring has led to a more dynamic and, at times, unpredictable recruiting environment, requiring coaches to continually adapt their strategies. FANS’ OPINION ON THE TRANSFER PORTAL Fans’ reactions to the transfer portal are varied. Some appreciate the empowerment of student-athletes and the excitement brought by new talent joining their favorite teams. Others lament the perceived erosion of team loyalty and the potential weakening of traditional rivalries. The shifting landscape has sparked debates about the essence of college sports and the balance between athlete rights and maintaining the integrity of collegiate competitions. In conclusion, The transfer portal and NIL rights have ushered in a new era for college athletics, characterized by increased player movement and evolving program dynamics. As stakeholders navigate these changes, ongoing discussions will be essential to address the challenges and opportunities presented by this transformed landscape. Views: 1
