To obtain the score YOU rank the teams by how confident you are a team will win its game. EXAMPLE: Say this week we have 16 games. The team you are most confident will win you would assign the number 16 and follow down to the team you are least confident in and assign that number 1. You add up the TOTAL CORRECT PICKS.. That would be your score. We use the Monday night (Last game played) as a TIE BREAKER. The tie is broken by the closest to the total (that is the COMBINED score of the two participating teams) final score, without going over. YOU can adopt the scoring described above. Or, the optional method. A negative score for missed games. We will continue to get a positive score for correct predictions. EXAMPLE: if you scored 1 pt on the first game and you had 15 pts on the second game and lost you would still have 1 pt. 1. HOWEVER. with the same scenario new scoring system would result with a –14 score If we were playing this is how my sheet would look; My pick will be in bold Capital letters. you can use circling, underlining, or highlighting. The Complete History of Jeff George
Jeff George (born December 8, 1967) is a former American football quarterback who played 12 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). Known for possessing what many consider to be one of the strongest arms in league history, George was the first overall pick in the 1990 NFL Draft. Over his career, he threw for 27,602 passing yards, 154 touchdowns, and 113 interceptions. Early Life and College Career Born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana, George was a standout quarterback at Warren Central High School. He began his college career at Purdue University (1986–1987) before transferring to the University of Illinois. At Illinois, he flourished under head coach John Mackovic, winning the Sammy Baugh Trophy in 1989 as the nation’s top collegiate passer. The 1990 NFL Draft Entering the 1990 NFL Draft, George was the consensus top quarterback prospect. The Atlanta Falcons originally held the first overall pick, but because they already had a franchise quarterback in Chris Miller, the Chris Miller Indianapolis Colts (George’s hometown team) traded up to acquire the selection. The Colts sent Miller and multiple draft picks to Atlanta in exchange for the rights to draft George, making him a hometown hero. Indianapolis Colts (1990–1993) George’s tenure with the Colts featured flashes of brilliance mixed with team struggles. In 1992, he led the Colts to an AFC East division title under head coach Ted Marchibroda. However, George eventually developed a reputation for being difficult to coach and fell out with Marchibroda, leading to his benching in favor of Jim Harbaugh. In March 1994, the Colts traded George back to the Atlanta Falcons in exchange for first- and third-round draft picks. Atlanta Falcons (1994–1996) Reunited with the Falcons, George was tasked with running head coach June Jones’ “Run-and-Shoot” offense. In 1995, he enjoyed a highly productive year, throwing for 4,143 yards and leading the Falcons to their first playoff appearance in several seasons. However, his time in Atlanta is most famously remembered for a public confrontation with his coach. On September 22, 1996, during a nationally televised game, cameras caught George getting into a heated, shouting argument on the sidelines with June Jones. Following the incident, George was benched, suspended, and eventually waived by the Falcons in October 1996. Oakland Raiders (1997–1998) George signed with the Oakland Raiders in 1997 and found a new lease on his career. Working under quarterbacks coach Bill Musgrave, George had arguably the finest statistical season of his career. In 1997, he threw for 3,917 yards, a career-high 29 touchdowns, and only nine interceptions, earning a 91.2 passer rating. His yardage total led the entire NFL that season, marking the peak of his individual accolades. Minnesota Vikings (1999) In 1999, George joined the Minnesota Vikings, stepping in as the starter for a high-powered offense featuring future Hall of Famers Randy Moss and Cris Carter. He went 8-2 in 10 regular-season starts, throwing for 2,816 yards and 23 touchdowns. His deep-ball accuracy perfectly complemented the Vikings’ explosive receiving corps. In the 1999 NFC Divisional Playoff game against the St. Louis Rams’ “Greatest Show on Turf,” George threw for 423 yards and four touchdowns in a thrilling, high-scoring 49-37 loss. Washington Redskins and Retirement (2000–2004) George signed with the Washington Redskins in 2000, starting 11 games and posting a 6-5 record. He played his final NFL snaps for Washington in 2001. After leaving Washington, he attempted several comebacks, signing with the Seattle Seahawks as a backup in 2002 and with the Chicago Bears in 2004 to back up Chad Hutchinson, but he did not see regular-season action for either team. Legacy and Post-NFL Life Jeff George concluded his 12-season NFL career with a 46-78 record as a starting quarterback. While critics often pointed to his lack of sustained team success and clashes with coaches, his undeniable physical talent left a lasting impression on peers and fans, who frequently cite him as having one of the greatest pure throwing arms the league has ever seen. Since retiring, George has remained connected to the sport and his community. In 2022, he was inducted into the University of Illinois Athletics Hall of Fame. He has made occasional media appearances and engaged in charitable efforts, such as helping foster families. The football legacy continues in his family; his son, Jeff George Jr., played college football as a quarterback at institutions including the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Illinois. Denver Broncos History:
Denver Broncos History: Owners, Stadiums, Hall of Famers, MVPs and the Broncos Legacy The Denver Broncos are one of the most recognizable franchises in professional football. Founded in 1959 as a charter member of the American Football League, the Broncos began play in 1960 and joined the National Football League when the AFL and NFL merged in 1970. The early years were difficult. Denver struggled through most of its first decade, finishing the AFL era with a 39-97-4 record. But the franchise eventually transformed itself into one of the NFL’s most successful organizations. The Broncos have won three Super Bowls—XXXII, XXXIII and 50—and have captured AFC championships in 1977, 1986, 1987, 1989, 1997, 1998, 2013 and 2015. The Birth of the Denver Broncos The Broncos were founded by Bob Howsam, who received an AFL franchise for Denver in 1959. Howsam had experience in professional baseball and had been involved in developing Bears Stadium, which would become the Broncos’ first regular home. The Broncos played their first regular-season game on September 9, 1960, defeating the Boston Patriots 13-10. That game was the first game ever played in the history of the American Football League. The Howsam family’s ownership lasted only briefly. Howsam sold his interest to a group headed by Gerald H. Phipps and Cal Kunz in 1961. Denver Broncos Ownership History The Broncos have had several ownership groups since their creation. Bob Howsam — 1959-1961 Robert “Bob” Howsam was the founder and original owner of the Broncos. He brought professional football to Denver by obtaining the AFL franchise. His first Broncos team went 4-9-1 in 1960, but the organization he created eventually became one of the NFL’s most successful franchises. Cal Kunz — 1961-1964 Cal Kunz became part of the ownership group that purchased the Broncos from Howsam in 1961. Kunz was an important member of the early Denver ownership group. Gerald and Allan Phipps — 1961-1981 Gerald H. Phipps and his brother Allan Phipps became the dominant owners of the Broncos. Gerald Phipps purchased the club in 1965 and became one of the most important figures in early Broncos history. Under his ownership, the team experienced its first winning season in 1973 and eventually reached its first playoffs and first Super Bowl in 1977. Gerald Phipps was later inducted into the Broncos Ring of Fame. Edgar Kaiser Jr. — 1981-1984 Edgar Kaiser Jr., a member of the Kaiser family, purchased the Broncos from the Phipps ownership group in 1981. His ownership lasted only a few seasons, but it directly preceded the beginning of the greatest ownership era in franchise history. Pat Bowlen — 1984-2019 Pat Bowlen became majority owner of the Broncos in 1984 and eventually acquired 100 percent ownership. Bowlen’s ownership lasted more than three decades and included: 7 AFC championships 3 Super Bowl championships 21 winning seasons 18 playoff appearances 7 Super Bowl appearances Bowlen was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2019 as a contributor. His ownership era included the Broncos’ greatest sustained period of success. The Pat Bowlen Trust — 2019-2022 After Bowlen’s death in 2019, the franchise was operated through the Pat Bowlen Trust while the ownership succession process was completed. Joe Ellis served as the Broncos’ president and CEO during this transition. Walton-Penner Family Ownership Group — 2022-Present In 2022, the Broncos were purchased by the Walton-Penner Family Ownership Group. Rob Walton became the principal owner, while Greg Penner serves as chairman and CEO. The ownership group also includes Carrie Walton Penner and other investors. As of 2026, the Walton-Penner group remains the Broncos’ ownership group. Every Stadium the Broncos Have Called Home The Broncos have a particularly interesting stadium history because they spent their first 41 seasons almost entirely in one facility. Bears Stadium — 1960-1968 The Broncos began playing in Bears Stadium, which had originally been built in 1948 for the Denver Bears baseball club. When the Broncos entered the AFL, the stadium was expanded for professional football. It became the original home of the Denver Broncos. University of Denver Stadium — 1962 and 1963 The Broncos also used University of Denver Stadium, commonly known as Hilltop Stadium, for two home openers because Bears Stadium was unavailable. These were unusual exceptions rather than a permanent change of home field. Mile High Stadium — 1969-2000 Bears Stadium was renamed Denver Mile High Stadium in 1969. For decades, “Mile High” became almost synonymous with the Denver Broncos. The Broncos played virtually all of their home games there from 1960 through 2000. Their record in the building was 190-108-7. The stadium also became famous for its enormous crowds and intimidating home-field atmosphere. Invesco Field at Mile High — 2001-2011 In 2001, the Broncos moved into their new stadium adjacent to the old Mile High Stadium site. The new facility was initially called Invesco Field at Mile High. Sports Authority Field at Mile High — 2011-2018 The stadium was renamed Sports Authority Field at Mile High in 2011. Broncos Stadium at Mile High — 2018-2019 Following the end of the Sports Authority naming agreement, the facility temporarily became known as Broncos Stadium at Mile High. Empower Field at Mile High — 2019-Present In 2019, the stadium became Empower Field at Mile High under a 21-year naming-rights agreement. As of 2026, Empower Field remains the Broncos’ home stadium. The stadium holds approximately 76,000 fans and has continued the tradition of “Mile High” football in Denver. Broncos in the Pro Football Hall of Fame The Broncos have produced a remarkable collection of Pro Football Hall of Famers. For this list, the focus is on individuals whose Hall of Fame careers included their major Broncos accomplishments—not players whose Hall of Fame credentials were primarily earned with another franchise. NFL CONFIDENCE PICK SHEET WEEK 1 09/09-10-13-14/2026
STEELERS: Linebacker T.J. Watt became the second player inf NFL history to record 100+ career sacks and 10+career interceptions. The only other player to reach this milestone was GREEN BAY PACKERS Julius Peppers in 2014. when he intercepted a Viking pass and returned it for a 49 yard TD. For those of you who are new here. This is how confidence ranking goes, let me explain. If we were playing an office pool,(which we ARE NOT). The object is to score the most points. I will show my correct points in Bold I will fill in my picks Thursday. Until then feel free to: Just copy and paste for your own Fun Pool Use. Or to see if you can beat me. IF YOU SEE I MADE A MIS-COPY OF THE GAMES AND TIMES FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME AND TELL ME I GOOFED. BYES: NONE TRIVIA TIME: Which team has had two players named Dalvin?
