NFL CONFIDENCE PICK SHEET WEEK 8 10/22-29//11-01-02/2026

For those of you who are new here. This is how confidence ranking goes, let me explain. If we were playing an office pool, (which we ARE NOT).  The object is to score the most points. To obtain the score YOU rank the teams by how confident you are a team will win its game.  EXAMPLE:  Say this week we have 16 games.  The team you are most confident will win you would assign the number 16 and follow down to the team you are least confident in and assign that number 1.   You add up the TOTAL CORRECT PICKS.. That would be your score.  We use the Monday night (Last game played) as a TIE BREAKER.  The tie is broken by the closest to the total (that is the COMBINED score of the two participating teams) final score, without going over. YOU can adopt the scoring  described above.  Or, the optional method.  A  negative score for missed games.  We will continue to get a positive score for correct predictions.  EXAMPLE:   if you scored     1 pt on the first game and you had 15 pts on the second game and lost you would still have  1 pt. 1.  HOWEVER. with the same scenario new scoring system would result with a –14 score If we were playing this is how my sheet would look;  My pick will be in bold Capital letters.  you can use circling, underlining, or highlighting.  I will show my correct points in Bold I will fill in my picks Thursday.  Until then feel free to: Just copy and paste for your own Fun Pool Use.  Or to see if you can beat me. Kansas City Chiefs: The Complete History of a Football Dynasty

The Kansas City Chiefs are one of the most important franchises in professional football history. Their story begins not in Kansas City, but in 1959, when Lamar Hunt founded the Dallas Texans as one of the original franchises of the American Football League (AFL). The Texans became the Kansas City Chiefs in 1963, and the franchise has remained in the Hunt family ever since. From the great AFL teams of the 1960s to the Patrick Mahomes era, the Chiefs have produced Hall of Fame players, championship teams, legendary coaches and some of the greatest moments in NFL history. As of the beginning of the 2026 season, the franchise had won four Super Bowls: Super Bowl IV, Super Bowl LIV, Super Bowl LVII and Super Bowl LVIII. The Beginning: The Dallas Texans Lamar Hunt founded the franchise in 1959 as the Dallas Texans. The team became a charter member of the new American Football League and began playing in 1960. The Texans quickly became one of the AFL’s strongest teams. In 1962, Dallas won the AFL Championship in a dramatic double-overtime victory over the Houston Oilers. Despite the championship, Hunt concluded that Dallas could not adequately support both his team and the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys. He therefore moved the franchise to Kansas City after the 1962 season. The team officially became the Kansas City Chiefs in 1963. The move was enormously successful. Kansas City immediately embraced the new franchise, and the Chiefs eventually became one of the AFL’s signature teams. All Chiefs Owners One of the most remarkable aspects of Chiefs history is the continuity of ownership. The franchise has never been sold outside the Hunt family. Lamar Hunt — 1959-2006 Lamar Hunt was the founder, original owner and guiding force behind the franchise. He owned the team from its creation as the Dallas Texans in 1959 until his death in 2006. Hunt was also one of the founders of the American Football League and played a major role in the AFL-NFL merger. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1972. Hunt is also widely credited with helping popularize the name “Super Bowl.” Norma Hunt and the Hunt Family — 2006-2023 Following Lamar Hunt’s death in December 2006, ownership remained within the Hunt family. His wife, Norma Hunt, and their four children became involved in ownership of the franchise. Norma Hunt became one of the most recognizable figures in NFL history. She was known as the “First Lady of Football” and attended every Super Bowl from the first game through her death in 2023. The Four Hunt Family Ownership Groups — Present Today, the Chiefs are owned by the families of Lamar Hunt’s four children: Lamar Hunt Jr. Sharron Hunt Clark Hunt Daniel Hunt Clark Hunt serves as chairman and CEO and is the family’s principal representative in the operation of the franchise. The Chiefs therefore remain one of the NFL’s longest continuously family-owned franchises. Every Stadium the Chiefs Have Called Home The franchise has had three principal home stadiums when the Dallas Texans and Kansas City Chiefs history is considered together. Cotton Bowl — Dallas, Texas 1960-1962 The original Dallas Texans played their home games at the Cotton Bowl. The stadium was already one of the best-known football venues in Texas, and it served as the franchise’s home during its three seasons in Dallas. The Texans won the 1962 AFL Championship while playing at the Cotton Bowl. Municipal Stadium — Kansas City, Missouri 1963-1971 After moving to Kansas City, the newly renamed Chiefs played at Municipal Stadium. The stadium was located at 22nd Street and Brooklyn Avenue and had previously been used by the Kansas City Athletics baseball club. Municipal Stadium became the birthplace of Kansas City Chiefs football. Some of the greatest players in franchise history began their Chiefs careers there, including Len Dawson, Bobby Bell, Buck Buchanan, Willie Lanier, Emmitt Thomas and Johnny Robinson. The Chiefs played their final game at Municipal Stadium on Christmas Day 1971, losing a dramatic overtime playoff game to the Miami Dolphins. Arrowhead Stadium — Kansas City, Missouri 1972-present The Chiefs moved into Arrowhead Stadium in 1972. Arrowhead quickly became one of the most recognizable stadiums in professional sports. Its steep seating bowl, loud crowd and distinctive design made it one of the most intimidating home-field advantages in the NFL. The stadium was later known as GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. Arrowhead has been the home of the Chiefs through the eras of Marty Schottenheimer, Dick Vermeil, Herm Edwards, Todd Haley, Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes. It has also hosted some of the greatest playoff games in franchise history. Chiefs Pro Football Hall of Famers — The Chiefs Legacy The Pro Football Hall of Fame lists many former Chiefs because the players, coaches and executives associated with the franchise represent several generations of professional football excellence. For this list, the focus is on the Hall of Famers whose major football legacy was earned with the Dallas Texans/Kansas City Chiefs, rather than players who happened to spend a short portion of their careers in Kansas City. Bobby Bell Linebacker — Chiefs, 1963-1974 Bobby Bell was one of the great defensive players of the AFL era. He was a key member of the Chiefs’ championship defenses and became one of the most feared linebackers in professional football. Buck Buchanan Defensive Tackle — Chiefs, 1963-1975 Buck Buchanan was one of the dominant defensive linemen of the AFL. He was a cornerstone of the Chiefs’ great defenses and played in both of Kansas City’s first two Super Bowls. Curley Culp Defensive Tackle — Chiefs, 1968-1974 Culp was a powerful defensive tackle who became an important part of the Chiefs’ defense during the late AFL and early NFL years. Len Dawson Quarterback — Chiefs, 1963-1975 Len Dawson was the greatest quarterback of the early Chiefs era. He led Kansas City to the AFL Championship in 1966 and 1969 and quarterbacked the Chiefs to their historic victory in Super Bowl IV. Dawson was named… Continue reading Kansas City Chiefs: The Complete History of a Football Dynasty

The Complete History of the NBA’s Grizzlies

The Memphis Grizzlies are one of the NBA’s younger franchises, but their history stretches across two countries and two cities.  The franchise began as the Vancouver Grizzlies in British Columbia in 1995 before relocating to Memphis, Tennessee, in 2001. Since arriving in Memphis, the Grizzlies have developed a distinctive identity built around physical defense, toughness, rebounding, unselfish basketball and a passionate connection with the city. The franchise has not yet won an NBA championship.   but they an NBA Coach of the Year, an NBA Rookie of the Year, an  NBA Defensive Player of the Year, multiple All-Stars, several All-NBA players and a group of players who established the most successful era in franchise history. The Beginning: The Vancouver Grizzlies The NBA awarded Vancouver an expansion franchise in 1994, with the team beginning play during the 1995-96 season. The franchise was originally associated with the Northwest Entertainment Group and the ownership interests of Arthur Griffiths and John McCaw Jr.  The name “Grizzlies” was chosen because grizzly bears were strongly associated with British Columbia and Western Canada. The franchise retained the Grizzlies name after moving to Tennessee, even though grizzly bears are not native to West Tennessee. Memphis fans had already embraced the name, so the organization decided to keep it. Vancouver Ownership Arthur Griffiths and John McCaw Jr. — 1995-1996                                                                    Arthur Griffiths was instrumental in bringing the NBA to Vancouver and developing General Motors Place John McCaw Jr. — 1996-2000                                                                                                                     Assumed controlling interest in 1995 and subsequently became the franchise’s sole owner after acquiring the remaining Griffiths interests. Michael Heisley — 2000-2001                                                                                                     Michael Heisley purchased the Grizzlies in 2000. He initially said he intended to keep the team in Vancouver, but the franchise was relocated to Memphis the following year. All Arenas and Home Courts The Grizzlies have called three major arenas home since entering the NBA: 1. General Motors Place — Vancouver1995-2001 General Motors Place was the original home of the Vancouver Grizzlies. It opened in 1995 and was shared with the. NHL Vancouver Canucks.  The Grizzlies played all six of their Vancouver seasons there. The arena was later renamed Rogers Arena. 2. Pyramid Arena — Memphis 2001-2004 When the franchise moved to Memphis for the 2001-02 season, the Grizzlies initially played at the Pyramid.  The Pyramid was a distinctive building on the Mississippi River and became the team’s first Memphis home. 3. FedExForum — Memphis 2004-present The Grizzlies moved into FedExForum for the 2004-05 season. The downtown Memphis arena has remained the team’s home ever since.  The move to FedExForum represented another important stage in establishing the franchise permanently in Memphis. The NBA’s account of the ownership transition notes that the Grizzlies moved to Memphis in 2001 and into FedExForum in 2004. The Move to Memphis The Vancouver years were difficult on the court. The Grizzlies never reached the playoffs while playing in Vancouver.  Michael Heisley became owner in 2000 and ultimately moved the franchise to Memphis for the 2001-02 season.  The relocation gave the franchise a fresh start. The name remained the Grizzlies, but the team began building a new identity around Memphis basketball.                                                                  The Grizzlies have had two owners: Michael Heisley 2000-2012 Heisley purchased the franchise in 2000 while it was still in Vancouver. He became the owner who completed the move to Memphis. He remained owner through the organization’s rebuilding years and the emergence of the first truly successful Grizzlies teams. Robert J. Pera 2012-present Technology entrepreneur Robert J. Pera purchased the Grizzlies from Heisley in 2012 after the NBA Board of Governors approved the transaction. Pera remains the franchise’s controlling owner. The Pau Gasol Era The most important early Memphis player was Pau Gasol. Memphis selected Gasol with the third overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft. He immediately became one of the franchise’s most important players.  In his rookie season, Gasol averaged 17.6 points and 8.9 rebounds per game and won the 2001-02 NBA Rookie of the Year Award. He became the first player representing the Grizzlies franchise to win the award.  Gasol spent more than six seasons with the Grizzlies before being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in 2008. He later won two NBA championships with the Lakers and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2023. NBA Rookie of the Year as a Grizzly The Grizzlies have produced one NBA Rookie of the Year: Pau Gasol — 2001-2002 Gasol won Rookie of the Year while playing for the Memphis Grizzlies.  This is an important distinction because the franchise has had other outstanding rookies, but Gasol is the only Grizzlies player to win the NBA’s official Rookie of the Year award. NBA  Most Valuable Player as a Grizzly No Grizzlies player has won the NBA MVP Award. This applies to both the Vancouver and Memphis versions of the franchise. Several Grizzlies players have received MVP consideration, made NBA All- teams or become major NBA stars, but no player has won the league’s regular-season Most Valuable Player… Continue reading The Complete History of the NBA’s Grizzlies

Arizona Cardinals: A History of the NFL’s Oldest Continuous Franchise

The Arizona Cardinals are one of the most historic franchises in professional football. Their story began in Chicago more than a century ago, continued through St. Louis, moved to Phoenix, and eventually reached the present-day home in Glendale, Arizona. The Cardinals are the oldest continuously operating professional football franchise. The organization traces its roots to the Morgan Athletic Club, founded in Chicago in 1898. The team became the Chicago Cardinals and joined the NFL as a charter member in 1920. Over the decades, the franchise has been known as the Chicago Cardinals, Card-Pitt, St. Louis Cardinals, Phoenix Cardinals and Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals have won two NFL championships, in 1925 and 1947, and their greatest modern achievement came when they won the NFC Championship in 2008 and advanced to Super Bowl XLIII. The Beginning: From Morgan Athletic Club to the Cardinals The franchise began in Chicago in 1898 as the Morgan Athletic Club. Chris O’Brien became one of the central figures in establishing the organization.  The team eventually became known as the Cardinals because of the color of its uniforms. Rather than abandoning an old set of uniforms, O’Brien reportedly described their color as “Cardinal red,” and the nickname remained. In 1920, the Cardinals became one of the original members of the American Professional Football Association, which soon became the National Football League.  That makes the Cardinals one of the two surviving franchises from the original 1920 NFL, along with the Chicago Bears. Cardinals Franchise Names Through the Years 1898–1920 — Morgan Athletic Club and early Chicago Cardinals                                    1920–1943 — Chicago Cardinals 1944 — Card-Pitt During World War II, the Cardinals temporarily combined with the Pittsburgh Steelers because of the shortage of available players. 1945–1959 — Chicago Cardinals 1960–1987 — St. Louis Cardinals 1988–1993 — Phoenix Cardinals 1994–present — Arizona Cardinals The franchise’s geographic journey is one of the most unusual in NFL history. All Cardinals Owners  The Cardinals have had a relatively small number of ownership groups compared with their age, largely because of the remarkable length of the Bidwill family’s ownership. All Cardinals Owners  Chris O’Brien 1898–1929 Chris O’Brien was the principal early owner and one of the foundational figures of the franchise. He sold the Chicago Cardinals to David Jones in 1929. David Jones 1929–1932 Jones owned the Cardinals for approximately three years before selling the franchise to Charles W. Bidwill. Charles W. Bidwill Sr. 1932–1947 Charles Bidwill purchased the Cardinals in 1932 and began what became the NFL’s longest-running family ownership tradition.  Bidwill died in 1947, before seeing the Cardinals win the NFL championship that season.  He was later inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Violet Bidwill Wolfner 1947–1962 Following Charles Bidwill’s death, his widow, Violet Bidwill, became owner. Violet was a remarkable figure in NFL history. She was the Violet Bidwill Wolfner history and guided the Cardinals to the 1947 NFL championship during her first season as owner. She also oversaw the franchise during its 1948 division championship season and eventually made the decision to move the Cardinals from Chicago to St. Louis in 1960. Charles “Stormy” Bidwill Jr. and William “Bill” Bidwill 1962–1972 After Violet Bidwill died in 1962, her sons Charles Jr. and Bill inherited the Cardinals. The brothers operated the franchise together for approximately a decade.  William V. “Bill” Bidwill. 1972–2019 Bill Bidwill purchased his brother’s share in 1972 and became the Cardinals’ sole owner. His ownership included the team’s final years in St. Louis, the relocation to Arizona in 1988, the Phoenix Cardinals era, the transition to the Arizona Cardinals name in 1994, and the team’s first Super Bowl appearance.  Under Bill Bidwill, the Cardinals moved from Sun Devil Stadium to their present-day home in 2006. Michael Bidwill 2019–present Michael Bidwill became owner following the death of his father, Bill Bidwill, in 2019. Michael had previously served as Cardinals president and had been heavily involved in the development of the team’s modern business and stadium operations.  The Bidwill family therefore has maintained ownership of the Cardinals for more than nine decades. Every Stadium Called Home by the Cardinals Few NFL franchises have had a more complicated history of home stadiums. Normal Park — Chicago 1920–1921 and 1926–1928 Normal Park was one of the Cardinals’ earliest NFL home fields.  The Cardinals returned there after playing elsewhere during part of the 1920s. Comiskey Park — Chicago 1922–1925, 1929–1930 and 1939–1958 Comiskey Park, primarily associated with Major League Baseball’s Chicago White Sox, served as a major Cardinals home for many years.  It was also the site of the Cardinals’ dramatic 1947 NFL Championship victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. Wrigley Field — Chicago 1931–1938 The Cardinals played their home games at Wrigley Field, the famous home of baseball’s Chicago Cubs. For several seasons, Wrigley Field therefore served as a home for two NFL teams as well as the Cubs. Soldier Field — Chicago 1959 The Cardinals played four home games at Soldier Field during their final season in Chicago. Metropolitan Stadium — Bloomington, Minnesota 1959 The Cardinals also played two home games at Metropolitan Stadium during their final season before moving to St. Louis. Forbes Field — Pittsburgh 1944 During the temporary Card-Pitt merger with the Steelers, several games were played at Pittsburgh’s Forbes Field. Busch Stadium — St. Louis 1960–1965 When the Cardinals moved from Chicago to St. Louis in 1960, they played at the baseball Cardinals’ Busch Stadium, then known as Sportsman’s Park. Busch Memorial Stadium — St. Louis 1966–1987 The Cardinals moved into the new Busch Memorial Stadium in downtown St. Louis in 1966. The St. Louis Cardinals enjoyed some of their strongest regular-season success during the 1970s, winning NFC Eastern Division championships in 1974 and 1975. Sun Devil Stadium — Tempe, Arizona 1988–2005 The franchise moved from St. Louis to Arizona in 1988 and initially played at Arizona State University’s Sun Devil Stadium. The team was known as the Phoenix Cardinals… Continue reading Arizona Cardinals: A History of the NFL’s Oldest Continuous Franchise
