NFL CONFIDENCE PICKS WEEK 4 10/01-04-05/2020

We saw our first game to end in a tie. Featured two teams without a win; the Bengals and the Eagles. Seattle’s Russell set an all time NFL record Sunday as he has completed 14 TD passes in the first three weeks of the season. For those of you who are new here. This is  how confidence ranking goes, let me explain. If we were playing an office pool,(which we ARE NOT).  The object is to score the most points. To obtain the score YOU rank the teams by how confident you are a team will win its game.  EXAMPLE:  Say this week we have 16 games.  The team you are most confident will win you would assign the number 16 and follow down to the team you are least confident in and assign that number 1.   You add up the TOTAL CORRECT PICKS.. That would be your score.  We use the Monday night (Last game played) as a TIE BREAKER.  The tie is broken by the closest to the total (that is the COMBINED score of the two participating teams) final score, without going over. YOU can adopt the scoring  described above.  Or, the optional method.  A  negative score for missed games.  We will continue to get a positive score for correct predictions.  EXAMPLE:   if you scored     1 pt on the first game and you had 15 pts on the second game and lost you would still have  1 pt. 1.  HOWEVER. with the same scenario new scoring system would result with a –14 score If we were playing this is how my sheet would look;  My pick will be in bold Capital letters.  you can use circling, underlining, or highlighting.  I will show my correct points in Bold I will fill in my picks Thursday.  Until then feel free to: Just copy and paste for your own Fun Pool Use.  Or to see if you can beat me. IF YOU SEE I MADE A MIS-COPY OF THE GAMES AND TIMES FEEL  FREE TO EMAIL ME AND TELL ME I GOOFED. GOOD LUCK TO ALL. Sunday’s13:00 game between Pittsburgh Steelers and Tennesee Titans POSTPONED.  WILL NOT BE PLAYED IN WEEK 4.  ALSO the 14:25 game between the Patriots and Chiefs either will not be played this week; OR may play Monday or Tuesday.  Personally if it is played as week 4 I would prefer a Tuesday evening game.  Who knows more games may be PPD by  NOTE:COLTS/BEARS MOVED TO 16:25, SUNDAY. NFL CONFIDENCE PICKS WEEK 3 09/24-27-28/2020

While watching the SEAHAWKS/PATRIOTS game I kept wondering about the mask situation in the bench area.  We all know the mask is supposed to cover the mouth and nose.  However it hit me some of the coaches were either not wearing masks all the time or had them below the nose.  I rationalized they must be beyond the 6 foot area.  Then thinking back to other games the same situation, EXCEPT the ones wearing the plastic shields.   The thing i found amusing was how “OLD HABITS ARE HARD TO BREAK”,  Did you notice that some of the coaching staff, (even though they were wearing masks),  HELD up papers or something to hide behind so no one could read their lips!   I must say i am extremely disappointed in the SEAHAWKS lack of defense.  YES ! they did stop the final score ateempt on the one yard line.  But SO MANY ,(TOO MANY), times Newton was left all alone for what seemed liked 10 seconds with nary a SEATTLE defender within 5+ feet of him.  If they get some DEFENSE.  it would take some pressure off Russell Wilson and almost make them a shoo in for another Super Bowl Championshi[.   We have FOUR undefeated team meeting this week.  RAMS vs BILLS.  CHIEFS vs RAVENS For those of you who are new here. NFL CONFIDENCE PICKS WEEK 1 09/10/2020

Welcome to our 8 th year of NFL CONFIDENCE PICKS  !!!!! Sorry for the lateness of this post.  Like, ( I suppose ), most of you NO preseason games, the VIRUS,etc. etc.  The SEASON OPENER just sneaked up on me.  NOTE:  “FOOTBALL TEAM”, Formerly known as the “REDSKINS” I still do not like the disrespect demonstrated to our FLAG.  As it is,  “you kneel to GOD and Stand for the Flag.  If you are making the money these “athletes” are making for playing a kids game.  Stand for the FLAG: or don’t take the DOLLARS!   i am okay with the arm hooking.  That shows unity. Effective for 2019 season Rule changes and point of EMPHASIS will only appear here this one time.  I will try to put them on a separate post with a link to that post on future weeks. So if you don’t want to read these changes just page down to the bracket. Here is a list of the rule changes, as I understand them.   Here is a list of the rule changes, as I understand them. 2020 NFL RULES CHANGES DEFENSELESS PLAYERS ON PUNTS AND KICKOFFS Protect a player in a defenseless positon.  Such as 1 A kickoff or put returner attempting to field a kick in the air, UNTIL  he has CLEARLY  become a runner.  (This can be contentious.  As I recall my son in high school tackling a KICKER who bobbled the ball,  TUCKED the ball and took a step forward.  The Referee called him for roughing the kicker)  So as you can see; with all calls a blink of the eye or a partially blocked view can change the call.   IF the player CAN avoid or ward impending contact, he is no longer defenseless.  Another flaw.   The player could feint a an escape.  Leaving the Defender to draw a penalty. Explore the 2019 NFL rulebook. GAME CLOCK START AFTER A FOUL IN THE FOURTH QUARTER OR OVERTIME: IF the OFFENSE  commits a foul after the ball is set before a snap, (4th quarter or OVERTIME),  Causes the clock to stop before the before the snap.  Game clock Will Start on the snap.  (This is a change from last year because; IF the clock was stopped for a foul BEFORE the 5 minute mark of 4th quarter, the CLOCK would start on the referee’s signal). REPLAY INITIATED BY REPLAY OFFICIAL:  REVIEWS can ONLY BE INITIATED by the replay official, even if a foul on the play negates the ruling:      1.  ALL try attempts      2.  ALL scoring plays      3.  All plays within with an interception.      4.  All plays with a fumble or backward pass either recovered by an opponent or that goes out of bound through the end zone. Owners voted to make permanent the kickoff rules changes that were implemented in 2018. The restrictions resulted in a 35% .                                                                       Visit the NFL Video Rulebook. Other rules changes for 2019 include: CELEBRATIONS Beginning in 2019, only players in uniform may enter the field to celebrate. If anyone other than a player in uniform enters the field, it is a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct — loss of 15 yards and an automatic first down. POINTS OF EMPHASIS: USE OF HELMET: The Officiating Department will continue to emphasize the Use of Helmet rule adopted in 2018. Video Rulebook: Use of Helmet The officiating standards for the Use of Helmet rule are: Lowering the head (not to include bracing for contact) Initiating contact with the helmet to any part of an opponent. Contact does not have to be to an opponent’s head or neck area — lowering the head and initiating contact to an opponent’s torso, hips, and lower body, is also a foul. Making contact on an opponent (both offense and defense) (Rules from NFL.com)                                                        SUGGESTED VISIT:     https://operations.nfl.com/the-rules/nfl-video-rulebook/ We, again, are at the mercy of NFL Flexible scheduling.  Which means some games on our schedule may be changed.  We will… Continue reading NFL CONFIDENCE PICKS WEEK 1 09/10/2020
