Kansas scraped by for the win last night. It wasn’t bad enough, Chiefs returner Nikko Remigio had broken through their coverage, hitting the open field and racing toward the end zone covering 63 yards on the opening kick. BUT Teans CB. Kris Boyd tracked him down, caught him and stripped the ball loose, however the ball was surrounded by red shirts, and maybe a couple of Texans. Out manned the Chiefs swiftly recovered the ball. (A BAD OMEN for the Texans). Adding to the drama Boyd threw his helmet leading to a penalty then starting to push his coach. Not a good thing. Coach was not on the field to recover the FUMBLE. Still the Texans stayed in the game. Had Houston ZH had a FG kicker with them they might have had a chance to win. Had Houston have a kicker. jake Bates missed two FIELD GOALS. And one Extra point. ( As I recall, all off to the right. That is 7 missed ;what should have been 7 sure.point. Too many momentum changes missed. The score should have been tied and go into OT…..OF COURSE YOU STII MUST TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION THE OBLIGATORY BAD CALLS FAVORING MAHOMES AND COMPANY. Mahomes has made these obligatory calls the basis of his “CAREER” For those of you who are new here. This is how confidence ranking goes, let me explain. If we were playing an office pool,(which we ARE NOT). The object is to score the most points. To obtain the score YOU rank the teams by how confident you are a team will win its game. EXAMPLE: Say this week we have 16 games. The team you are most confident will win you would assign the number 16 and follow down to the team you are least confident in and assign that number 1. You add up the TOTAL CORRECT PICKS.. That would be your score. We use the Monday night (Last game played) as a TIE BREAKER. The tie is broken by the closest to the total (that is the COMBINED score of the two participating teams) final score, without going over. YOU can adopt the scoring described above. Or, the optional method. A negative score for missed games. We will continue to get a positive score for correct predictions. EXAMPLE: if you scored 1 pt on the first game and you had 15 pts on the second game and lost you would still have 1 pt. 1. HOWEVER. with the same scenario new scoring system would result with a –14 score If we were playing this is how my sheet would look; My pick will be in bold Capital letters. you can use circling, underlining, or highlighting. MEET the OFFICIALS for SUPER BOWL LVIII
[adrotate group=”1″] [wpcdt-countdown id=”15138″] 🏈Super Bowl LVIII is just around the corner, and millions of fansare eagerly waiting to see the Kansas City CHIEFS and the San Francisco 49’ERS battle it out for the Lombardi Trophy at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. But while the spotlight will be on the players and coaches, there is another group of people who willplay a crucial role in the outcome of the game: the officials. The NFL has announced the officiating crew for the biggest game of the year, led by veteran referee Bill Vinovich. Vinovich, who has 18 years of experience in the league, will work his third Super Bowl as the crew chief, joining an elite club of only eight officials who have done so in NFL history. He previously officiated Super Bowl XLIX, when the New England PATRIOTS defeated the Seattle SEAHAWKS and Super Bowl LIV, when the Chiefs beat the 49’ERS Vinovich is no stranger to controversy, as he was also the referee for the infamous 2018 NFC championship game, when the Los Angeles RAMS edged the New Orleans SAINTS with the help of a no-call on an obvious pass interference by RAMS CB: Nickell Robey-Coleman against SAINTS WR: Tommylee Lewis. Vinovich later admitted that the call was missed, but said he did not see it on the field. The rest of the officiating crew for Super Bowl LVIII consists of: UMPIRE: Terry Killens, who will make history as the first person to play in one Super Bowl and officiate in another. Killens was a linebacker for the Tennessee TITANS in Super Bowl XXXIV, when they lost to the St. Louis Rams by one yard. DOWN JUDGE: Patrick Holt, who will work his first Super Bowl after six seasons in the NFL. Holt was a college football player at Cal State Northridge and a high school coach before becoming an official. LINE JUDGE: Mark Perlman, who will also work his first Super Bowl after 20 seasons in the NFL. Perlman has officiated in 17 playoff games, including four conference championships. FIELD JUDGE: Tom Hill, who will work his second Super Bowl after 22 seasons in the NFL. Hill previously officiated Super Bowl XLII, when the New York GIANTS upset the undefeated Patriots. SIDE JUDGE: Allen Baynes, who will work his second Super Bowl after 14 seasons in the NFL. Baynes previously officiated Super Bowl LII, when the Philadelphia EAGLES beat the PATRIOTS. BACK JUDGE: Brad Freeman, who will work his first Super Bowl after seven seasons in the NFL. Freeman is the son of former NFL referee Steve Freeman, who officiated Super Bowl XXXIV. REPLAY OFFICIAL: Mike Chase, who will work his first Super Bowl after 10 seasons in the NFL. Chase is a former college football player at Arizona State and a former high school coach. The Super Bowl officials were selected from the pool of 28 officials who worked the divisional round of the playoffs, based on their performance, accuracy, and professionalism throughout the season. Officials are not allowed to work more than two postseason assignments. The NFL has also assigned alternate officials for each position, in case of injury or illness. The alternates are: REFEREE: Shawn Hochuli, was promoted to Referee following the retirement of his father Ed Hochuli. Hochuli has previously worked as HEAD REFEREE: for ARENABOWL XXIV. He also worked as HR: during the 2022 NFC divisional playoff games. Shawn was the first to give an UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT penalty to Tom Brady. UMPIRE: Ramon George. We could not find much about him. Apparently he was involved in the controversial ending of a wild card game between the COWBOYS and 49’ERS. Because an official has to touch the ball before each down can start. Prescot tried to spike the ball to stop the clock, BUT, (Because an official has to touch the ball before each down can start). Umpire George ran into C: Tyler Biadasz, as tried to spot the ball, and the clock kept running. Ending game with the 49’ERS leading 23-17. DOWN JUDGE: Sarah Thomas, is the first female NFL official. She was the first woman to officiate at the college level. she became the first woman to earn an on-field assignment for an NFL playoff game. In February 2021, she became the first woman to officiate in a Super Bowl. Thomas has officiated United Football League games, and in 2010 worked the league championship game. Her NFL regular season debut in a game between the Kansas City CHIEFS and the Houston TEXANS at NRG Stadium on September 13, 2015, Thomas was selected for the Super Bowl LV LINE JUDGE: Rusty Baynes, NFL officiatin is a family tradition. He served as the line judge in Super Bowl LV, Baynes also worked as line judge in Super Bowl 50. His father, Ronnie Baynes, Ronnie worked as an NFL official. He refereed in Super Bowls XXIX in 1995 and XXXIII in 1999. He also served a stint as the NFL’s supervisor of officials. Brother, Allen, has been working as an NFL official since the 2008 season and most recently worked the 2021 Divisional Round. FIELD JUDGE: Eugene Hall, Has been an NFL official since 2014. Other than his day job as a special agent IRS, (Internal Revenue Service). This is all we could find on him. SIDE JUDGE: James Coleman, is in his 18th year as an NFL official. He was an official in Super Bowl LX. Sorry, this is all we could find on his NFL career BACK JUDGE: Greg Steed, officiated is in his 21st NFL season. Officiated in Super Bowl LIV (54). Other assignments were to Super Bowl XLII (42) as an alternate, Super Bowl XLIV (44), and an on-field official and Super Bowl XLIV as the on-field back judge. REPLAY OFFICIAL: Mike Chase. Unaable to find any information on Chase, other than he has worked as SENIOR REPLAY OFFICIAL. SUPER BOWL LVIII (58) A REMATCH FOR THE AGES
[adrotate group=”1″] [wpcdt-countdown id=”15138″] Super Bowl LVIII (58) will be played on Sunday, February 11, 2024 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. The two teams that will compete for the title are the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, who met in Super Bowl LIV in 2020, with the Chiefs winning 31-20. The halftime show will feature Usher, a Grammy-winning R&B singer and dancer2. You can watch the game on CBS or Nickelodeon, or stream it on Paramount+1. The biggest game of the year is almost here. On Sunday, February 11, 2024, the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers will face off in Super Bowl 58 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada. This is the second time these two teams will meet in the Super Bowl, after the Chiefs defeated the 49ers 31-20 in Super Bowl LIV in 2020. Will the Chiefs repeat their victory, or will the 49ers get their revenge? Here are some key factors to consider before the game. THE QUARTER BACKS Super Bowl 58 will feature a showdown between two of the best quarterbacks in the league: Patrick Mahomes of the CHIEFS and Brock Purdy of the 49’ERS. Mahomes, the reigning Super Bowl MVP, has been sensational this season, leading the league in passing yards (5,472), touchdowns (48), and passer rating (117.9). He has also shown his ability to make clutch plays with his arm and his legs, especially in the playoffs, where he led the Chiefs to comeback wins over the TEXANS and the RAVENS. Mahomes is looking to become the first quarterback to win back-to-back Super Bowls since Tom Brady in 2004 and 2005. Purdy, on the other hand, is a newcomer to the Super Bowl stage, but he has proven himself to be a worthy contender. The second-year pro, who was drafted by the 49’ERS in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, has had a breakout season, throwing for 4,316 yards, 35 touchdowns, and only nine interceptions. He has also displayed his mobility and toughness, rushing for 421 yards and seven touchdowns, and overcoming a shoulder injury that sidelined him for two games in the regular season. Purdy has been impressive in the postseason, leading the 49ers to dominant wins over the Lions and the Rams, and outplaying veteran quarterbacks Matthew Stafford and Aaron Rodgers. Both Mahomes and Purdy have plenty of weapons at their disposal, such as CHIEFS Receiver Rashee Rice. TE: Travis Kelce. RB: Isiah Pacheco 49’ers have WR Deebo Samuel, TE George Kittle. and RB Christian McCaffrey. The Super Bowl 58 could very well come down to which quarterback can make the most plays and avoid the most mistakes. THE DEFENSE While the Super Bowl 58 is expected to be a high-scoring affair, the defenses of both teams should not be overlooked. The CHIEFS and the 49’ERS have two of the most balanced and talented defenses in the league, ranking in the top 10 in both points allowed and yards allowed per game. Both teams also have some of the best pass rushers and playmakers in the league, The CHIEFS have DT: Chris Jones, LB: Frank Clark. For the 49’ERS , DL: Nick Bosa, and LB: Fred Warner. The CHIEFS defense has improved significantly since last year, when they ranked 17th in points allowed and 20th in yards allowed per game. Under defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo, the CHIEFS have become more aggressive and opportunistic, forcing 28 turnovers (tied for third in the league) and scoring four defensive touchdowns (tied for second in the league). The CHIEFS defense has also stepped up in the playoffs, holding the TEXANS and the RAVENS to 20 and 17 points, respectively, and generating six turnovers and seven sacks. The 49’ERS defense has been dominant all season long, ranking second in points allowed (17.1 per game) and fourth in yards allowed (304.9 per game). The 49’ERS‘ defense is led by their fearsome front four, which features Bosa, Arik Armstead, DeForest Buckner, and Dee Ford. The 49’ERS defense has recorded 54 sacks (second in the league) and 27 turnovers (tied for fifth in the league). The 49’ERS defense has also been dominant in the playoffs, holding the LIONS and the RAMS to 13 and 10 points, respectively, and generating five turnovers and nine sacks. Both defenses will have their hands full trying to stop the explosive offenses of their opponents. The key for both defenses will be to pressure the quarterbacks, disrupt the timing of the passing game, and force turnovers. THE COACHES Super Bowl 58 will also feature a rematch between two of the best coaches in the league: Andy Reid of the CHIEFS and Kyle Shanahan of the 49’ERS. Reid, who won his first Super Bowl last year, is one of the most respected and successful coaches in NFL history, with a career record of 238-140-1. He is known for his offensive genius, his innovative play-calling, and his ability to develop quarterbacks. Reid has also shown his adaptability and resilience, overcoming several challenges and controversies throughout his career. Shanahan, who lost his first Super Bowl as a head coach last year, is one of the most promising and creative coaches in the league, with a career record of 36-28. He is known for his offensive brilliance, his scheme versatility, and his knack for finding and maximizing talent. Shanahan has also shown his determination and leadership, turning the 49ers from a 4-12 team in 2018 to a 12-5 team in 2023. Both Reid and Shanahan have assembled strong coaching staffs, with coordinators. CHIEFS STAFF: HC :Andy Reid. 11 years as CHIEFS HC. Asst. Coach/Special Teams: Dave Toub. OC: Matt Nagy, DC: Steve Spagunolo. Pass Coordinator: Joe Bleymaier. Statistical Analysis Coordinator: Mike Frazier. QB Coach, David Girardi 49’ERS STAFF: HC: Kyle Shanahan. QB: Coach is Brian Griese who left his job on MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL to become teams QB coach. (He and his father Bob Griese are the… Continue reading SUPER BOWL LVIII (58) A REMATCH FOR THE AGES

[wpcdt-countdown id=”15138″] Unfortunately the 49’ers forgot to bring their DEFENSE. Terrible defense the whole game. BUT as much as I hate to admit it. The Officials did a great game. They didn’t have a hand in the CHIEFS win. They actually won this game. GREAT GAME CHIEFS and 49’ERS offense. PATRIOTS/TEXANS: RB: Rex Burkhead announced his retirement after 10 years. COMMANDERS: Reportedly hire COWBOYS DC: Dan Quinn as new HC. PANTHERS: Name Dan Morgan as GM. And Dave Canales as HC: SEAHAWKS: Hire RAVENS, DC: Mike McDonald as new HC I have to put my 2 cents in here. Judging from what i have seen in past seasons and this one. The OFFICIALS, will do all they can to make Patrick Mahomes look good. Look for the CHIEFS to get the most of favorable calls. (MY OPINION just as it says, this blog is MY OPINIONS. NFL OFFICIAL: Art McNally, 97 died Sunday of natural causes. McNally an on field official for 9 years, including 1960-1967. Following which he was hired by the NFL to become Supervisor of Officials. During his term in this position he ushered in the INSTANT REPLAY. He over saw the training and technology used in the faster more technology complicated game. Bills / BENGALS GAME POSTPONED: Latest update Damar Hamlins is listed in Critical NFLCondition. Officially Hamlin suffered Cardiac Arrest. (Cardiac arrest usually results from an electrical disturbance in the heart. It’s not the same as a heart attack). UPDATE: Hsmlin vital signs back to normal. They have put him to sleep with a breathing tube down his throat. The Monday Night Football game between Buffalo and Cincinnati has been POSTPONED after Bills Safety Damar Hamlin. Hamlin 24 went down after tackling Bengals WR Tee Higgins, with 5:58 left in the 1st quarter. He He took a few steps then collapsed. It appeared medical personnel were giving him CPR. He was transported by ambulance to a hospital. No word on when or if the game will be resumed. Our prayers are with Damar Hamlin. So far the only scheduled game for week 18 are for Saturday. Chiefs @ Chargers 16:30 on ESPN/ABC. At 20:15 we will have Titans @ Jaguars also on ESPN/ABC. No other games scheduled time wise. Although we know the pairings time, date, and network remain unscheduled at this time. NO BYES . . OFF THE SUBJECT OF NFL: WNBA. CONVICTED of drug TRAFFICKING, and sentenced to NINE years of prison. PHOENIX MERCURYS, PRIVILEGED player will RECEIVE Full Pay for a season not played .and league credit just as if played. Making eligible for free agency for the 2023 season. If another player was found to merely using drugs, they would have been at suspended for some amount of time, along with a fine. BUT, some people are just PRIVILEGED, and the rules that apply to others is ABOVE the rules. COLTS: Regardless of the terrible mess GM Chris Ballard has done. Colts owner Jim Irsay says, he’s my man. He will be back for next season. The one decision I have no opinion on so far is maintaning Jeff Saturday as next years HC. (Saturday is still up in the air.) I would like to see how he does without someone like Ballard making all the player calls, and I am sure other things he has his thumb on. I’m sure if Saturday had his say Ehlinger would have been playing instead of Ryan and Foles.. However with Ballard in the BIG seat. Not doing what needs to be done to form a team. Saturday will look like the scapegoat. Thus protecting Irsay’s BUDDY; BALLARD. The thing is how long does Jim Irsay want to continue fielding losing teams. COLTS: Benched Matt Ryan in favor of an aging Nick Foles. Benching Ryan makes sense; should have been done way earlier. In fact I can see no reason for the Colts to have signed him to begin with. But, putting that aside, would it not make more sense to give the young Sam Ehlinger playing time. Doing so would give him a better chance to prove himself. Even if the Colts keep him as a backup QB. He would have game experience if called upon during the next season. Or give other teams a chance to appraise him for a trade. Sometimes I think COMMON SENSE, is an unknown commodity among the Colts organization. I am not terribly impressed with any of the college QBs this year. For all practical purposes the Colts season is over. Give Ehlinger a chance! Views: 127

NFL CONFIDENCE PICKS WEEK 17 NFL 01/02-03-/2021
For those of you who are new here. This is how confidence ranking goes, let me explain. If we were playing an office pool,(which we ARE NOT). The object is to score the most points. To obtain the score YOU rank the teams by how confident you are a team will win its game. EXAMPLE: Say this week we have 16 games. The team you are most confident will win you would assign the number 16 and follow down to the team you are least confident in and assi0n that number 1. I will show my correct points in Bold I will fill in my picks Thursday. Until then feel free to: Just copy and paste for your own Fun Pool Use. Or to see if you can beat me. NFL CONFIDENCE PICKS WEEK 16 NFL 12/23-25-26-27/2021
CHIEFS CLINCH AFC WEST DIVISION TITLE !! BUCCANEERS CLINCH NFC SOUTH TITLE. Their first since 2007 !! What a weird week !! Steelers was a mild upset. Bengals, over Broncos, no big deal. Texans, over Jags, OK. BUT LIONS winning only their 2nd game of the season, upsetting the Cardinals ! BIG SURPRISE !! Buccaneers being blanked by the Saints, (?). What is going on?
