I know many of you are big fans of Facebook and of Tweeting. Many people like the idea of people knowing about what they are doing. Not me. I like my privacy. Remember there are downsides to everybody knowing what you are doing. Not everyone who reads your posts know whether you are joking or being serious. Sometimes it doesn’t matter what you are doing they will put there own connotation to it. Searching for a job? Your potential employer may just look you up on one of these medias. He may get a totally different picture of you than you presented at the interview. Or you may not even get the interview because something there didn’t strike the person who does the hiring, or recommending for hire, in the vein it was intended. Things which would not usually come up may be mentioned and bias the employer. People have even lost jobs because of these two medias. Or others like them. Even if you only have a family page. It could work out the same way. Look at your newspapers. How many students get in trouble at school for things they post. You could be inviting a stalker. (Even if it is just a cyberstalker). Parents be careful you may be attracting a child molester to your sight. Just be sure not to put offline contact information or the like, on your post. Or vacation plans. Law enforcement have made cases out of content of these medias. True or false, they might just decide you need to be investigated. Use your best Judgement. Maybe I am just too cautious, and protective of my personal business. But, I choose to not let everyone know my business. You know enough about me by just reading my blog. That Is How I See It. Watch For Vehicle Backup Lights
I hate to preach on Motorcycle safety. BUT…… I just learned something new from an article I read. We know there are many things to watch out for when we are riding. Just the other day I avoided a run in with a Semi by watching his front wheels. I was going North and he was heading South. When I got about 15 feet from him I noticed he had his wheels turned for a left turn into lumber yard he was going to make a delivery to. He was trying to find his gate, and didn’t see me. Good thing there was no curb but about 12 feet of level grass to my right. I braked and slid my bike in the direction of the grass and was able to come to a safe stop. When the truck driver realized what had happened he apologized. No Harm. No Foul. Then I happen to read a news story about a motorcyclist who was killed when a motorist in an SUV backed into him. Seems the SUV driver, was looking for a friends house. When she realized she had passed the address given to her; she shifted to reverse and started to back up. When she looked in the rear view mirror she saw an explosion. The motorcyclist was traveling about 40-45 mph. (There was no mention of the speed limit.) When he crashed into the back of the reversing vehicle. If the accident happened at night one should be able to see the backup lights work. If it was day it could be another story. Perhaps the backup lights weren’t working. The thing I learned is to add watching for backup lights, on slow or stopped vehicles. I know in some of the larger cities you may have bumper to bumper traffic with a 45 mph speed limit. In these cases I see many vehicles, including motorcycles bunch up closer than the usual interval. So even if he saw the backup light he may not have had time to avoid the collision. But at the same time why would one decide to backup in such a situation. I don’t know all the details, as they were not given in the story. So add backup lights to your list of things to watch for. That Is How I See It. find find find Views: 148
Obama On A Genocide Mission?
Gen·o·cide [jen-uh-sahyd]: A noun. The deliberate ans systematic extermination of a national, racial, political, or CULTURAL GROUP. Since Mr. Obama has taken office it seems he has pinpointed the elderly as the means to balance his budget. Or should I say slant things to his pet projects. What do you do if you want to spend money you don’t have. You eliminate things you don’t need. Divert that money to what you want. That my friends is just what Mr. Obama has done. First on his agenda was to bail out his buddies in the banking, and manufacturing industries. (Rich helping Rich get Richer). To do this he refused to admit the costs of living rises (Medicinal, Utilities, and yes gasoline) . He even wants to change the formula for figuring these costs, because he says they project a false and higher cost of living than is a true cost of living . Therefore not giving the elderly the raises they deserved, since he has been in office. To subsidize his buddies, the elderly have, by not getting a raise for 2 years. Has amounted to between $45 and $90 trillion dollars. That more than paid the trillions given to the bail out effort. These people have paid into this account for 40 to 50 years. It is not their fault the Government gave that money to other Government agencies. (Which fail to pay it back. let alone pay interest). merely a mismanagement of funds. Some of you will think the amount paid in does not equal the amount paid out….HOWEVER… Let us not forget the INTEREST which this money had been properly invested. How many of the people who have paid in never receive a check, because of death. Or just drop out of the system. How much of this money is being spent on people who never paid in a cent. How about planning our own retirement income. I did this. I invested the maximum I could. Two years later it was all gone. My company shut the doors, Not my fault. Due to EMERGENCIES, and the need to get by until I could find another job, (which has been 3 years now). I have no money. The barter system works fairly good but I still have to do without a lot, So you see that doesn’t help either. So how does this relate to GENOCIDE? By denying the elderly people the money needed to exist on. The poverty level is $10,890 a year. If I were to be on Social Security now I would be getting about $13,800 a year. But as of now I would have about $1392 a year subtracted before I get my check for MEDICARE, Which I have also been paying for all my working life. That takes me to $12,408, a year. Now let us not forget we need a supplement insurance. This cost is around $125 a month (according to friends paying it). This is another $1500 gone. Leaving us with $10,908. This puts you at just $18 above poverty level. Now subtract a conservative average of $600 a month for rent or mortgage. There goes $7200. Let’s see, that takes us to $3708 dollars to pay utilities, and buy food, house or renter insurance, life insurance and let’s not forget MEDICINE, Car insurance if we are lucky enough to have one. But then you would not be able to put gas in it. And let’s not forget we have to pay SALES tax on everything. Including our utilities. It seems that Mr. Obama’s plan is eliminate the elderly as quickly as possible. After all they are a drain on his economy. Genocide or what. I see it as an attempt to eliminate the elderly. That Is How I See It. How many people do we have die of starvation or heat, or just plain a lack of compassion by our leaders. more than between find merely find find Views: 183
How Expensive Can OTC Medicine Be?
While recently killing time in a local Wal*Mart store. I happened by a middle of the aisle display for abreva. (A cold sore medicine). I remember we once used a product called campo-pehnique, (sorry if I misspelled that), which cam in a small bottle and worked just fine. As I remember it cost just a little more than a stick of chap stick. I was really shocked to see a “discounted on sale” price of $15.12 for a little tube containing .07 oz. I ‘m sure it is a very good product, but come on….$15.12 for 7 hundredths of an ounce. Talk about the price of bottle water being high at about 89 cents (in our area) for a 20 oz bottle. Think gas is high at $3.79 9/10 a gallon. Let’s look at this abreva cost. As you know I am not very good at math so this is just as an example. I think it takes 700 of these tubes to make a full ounce, If I am wrong you can do the following computation with the correct number. Take the sale price, $15.12 per .07 oz X 700 =$10,584.00 an ounce. Note abreva is sold I believe by net wt. So comparing to water or gas we would have to figure the net weight for an ounce of either. For example we know FLUID oz is a measure of volume, and net wt oz is a measure a measure of WEIGHT. The ounce is still an ounce, it takes 16 oz to make a pound. A gallon of water weighs approximately 8.34 pounds. So we are now comparing weight to weight. This means 133.44 oz to a gallon. Now take the $10,584.oo an ounce for abreva, times th3 133.44 oz in a gallon of water. Guess what that would bring the cost of of a gallon of water to $141,232,8.96.oo. A 20 oz bottle of water would cost $11,769.41. So who can complain about 89 cents for a 20 oz bottle of water? It is but a drop in the bucket. If you want to figure this for gasoline. Gasoline varies from about 5-6 pounds, so for our sake here we will use the more prominent estimate of 6 pounds per gallon. means about 96 ounces. 96 ounces times $10,584.oo = (appx) $1,016,064.oo So I ask you is abreva really worth the price you pay? I suppose the answer is yes, if it does what you want of it. But comparatively It appears to me to be WAAAY overpriced. That Is How I See It. more than Views: 174
Legalize Marijuana?
Legalize marijuana or not legalize marijuana. That is the question. We have heard this argument for many years. Does it really matter? I must admit I have never tried it so maybe I fail to see the advantage, or disadvantage here. From what I understand drugs like marijuana have been used in many different rites during the course of our history. The American Indian supposedly used this or a similar drug in some of their ceremonial rites. The tribes of Africa used similar drugs for the same reason. For all I know our forefathers may have participated in this type of rites, or maybe even recreational purposes. Perhaps the medicinal uses were known way back when. I remember hearing of our ancestors, and even royalty abroad having snuff boxes. (And it wasn’t for tobacco snuff). No! I don’t know the answer. What I do know is this. If it is legalized, our Government will be able to get a piece of the action, (money) . The cost will most likely go down. Thus crime created by trying to get marijuana should go down. I suppose these would all be pluses, and I can’t really think of any minuses; other than there will always be those who have no legal claim to buy marijuana. Also if it is legalized, will growers be monitored like the existing drug companies, like Eli-Lily. If it is legalized will insurance companies pay for it. How much more will this cost us, the consumer in increased insurance premiums. And how will it affect hiring practices of business. There is mass impacts involved here. I’m sure more than I can foresee. Finally let me insert my personal observation. People already take legal drugs, illegally. I know of one young lady who stole a doctors prescription pad, and wrote her own prescriptions. This was many years ago, and the doctors signature would be impressed on the sheets below it. Do doctors now take measures to prevent this? I also know of people who will steal a relatives much needed medication out of their medicine cabinet. Without regard to the relatives health. I also know peoples homes are broken into for the purpose of finding legal drugs. Legal or not people will get their hands on them and use them illegally. MOOT POINT. Does it really matter if it is or is not legal. The government will benefit by getting a portion of the proceeds. That Is How I See It. more than involved Views: 212
Motorcyclist Has Tree Branch In Cheek
While flipping through the TV channels the other day a teaser, (a short blurp of an upcoming story), A motorcyclist walked into the ER with about a 5 foot long 1 1/2 inch tree branch sticking through his helmet shield. This was on DHF; Discovery Health & Fitness channel. I figure they will have it on again, if you want to catch the full story. A young man riding his motorcycle lost control of his motorcycle, and as he said, “…luckily a brush pile broke his fall….” He righted his motorcycle, hopped back on and headed to the ER. When he came in he proceeded explaining what happened and came to the ER because he was hot, and couldn’t get his helmet off. He was very nonchalant about the whole thing. Like this happens everyday. The motorcyclist was wearing a full face helmet, with shield. The branch punctured the shield, and proceeded through the cheek into the neck. The doctors had to borrow pruners from the hospital maintenance crew, cut the branch about 4-5 inches up from the shield; just so they could remove the helmet. They proceeded to pull the branch out. Checked for further injury, sewed him up. He left the ER just as if nothing unusual had happened and rode his motorcycle home. The reason I wrote about this is to demonstrate, that although we take precautions and do what we need to do; protective clothing, helmet and shield; and aware of our surroundings. we are still at the mercy of the unexpected. I don’t know, but I suspect his injuries might have been greater if he had not had his helmet on. But what I want to say is protect ourselves as we might, a freak accident can still sneak in on you. Just be careful, and enjoy your ride. That Is How I See It. Views: 160
Obama’s Administration Other Face
As most of you know, for years the war of State Vs Religion has been waged. With the leadership, or backing, however you see it; of the aclu, (Anti Christian Lawyers Union), God is slowly being removed from the USA. The USA was founded on a basis of “FREEDOM OF RELIGION” as I have stated in other posts. (See “Hope You Had A Happy 4th). Our current president (I use the lower case here, as I find it very hard to respect the man elected to lead us). Mr. Obama claims to be a Christian, but actions speak louder than words. (You have all heard that before). What brought about this posting? I was just made aware that, this administration which has had it’s share, or more, of anti Christian moves; HOWEVER, has given $770,000,000.oo to reconstruct Moslem Mosques, in the Middle East. Am I the only one who has a problem with this? This administration with a leader with Muslim ties, an administration who continues to back the loss of our freedoms, an administration that misinterprets, our Constitution, and insists on NO support of any kind of religion, will give this huge amount to support the Muslim religion in foreign countries. We are also supporting them by building their INTERNET system. This is fine with me. I just wonder what the rogue muslims, (note no capital here either, as I do not believe them to be devout muslims), will do with internet access. As an American, I have no problem with Muslims in general, just as I have no problem with the Jews. We all believe in the same GOD, we just have different views of our Messiah, (if you will). Do you see a the other face of our administration? No religion, in USA, Support religion in other countries. They justify this action as “….building foreign relations…” That Is How I See It find find find Views: 628
Cop Paid For Viewing Child Porn
Illinois State cop, (now RETIRED), was arrested and convicted of “viewing child porn; while on duty, and using his state issued laptop computer. I know some government employees get in trouble, maybe even fired for viewing personal emails, on the job. Even in the business world, people are fired for using company computers for personal business on company time. They call this THEFT of time. Anyway what we have here is a blatant misuse of taxpayer time and money. WHY did he turn to child pornography while on duty? Because, he said “I was bored.” So he paid $99 a month for a subscription to the porn site. Used STATE owned property while in a STATE owned vehicle, while receiving a STATE wage; to get his jollies looking at innocent little children doing whatever. Of course he was found guilty. This man who we look to as an example, received the following sentence. Sixty (60) days in jail. Thirty (30) months probation. A fine of $2000.oo, and must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. THIS is CHILD PORNOGRAPHY folks!!!!. not just your usual smut. Do we have a double standard here? I read of one man charged with distributing Child Pornography, received a 40 year sentence. I agree they are not exactly the same, and the distributor should probably receive more time. But is there that much difference? I think he gets to keep his retirement benefits. From what I could gather there was no mention of this. Oh, yes. He is said to be set free in 4 weeks. Time served, and good time, being subtracted from the 60 days. Just another example of how our police state works. Police are not held to the same standards as you or I. However let us not forget. Police are supposed to be respected, and set the example. I’ll bet the good people of Illinois are not so happy to see their tax dollars at work this way. Do you think a non-government official would receive this light a sentence. NO! I don’t. That Is How I See It. know some Views: 499
Accident 45 Years Ago Adds To 2011 Death Toll
This is one for the books. Perhaps a legal question. Or just an example of how our politicians use statistics, and the like. According to what I read. Forty Five years ago a woman in Northern Indiana was injured in an automobile accident. Extremely injured, she became paralyzed. Now 45 years later she died. Her death went into the records as an automobile accident death for the year 2011. I found this to be puzzling. She has lived 45 years after the accident. But according to the records she died of injuries received in the accident 45 years ago. Of course I realize she was injured, and quite badly. BUT. What I don’t understand is what kind of injury from an automobile accident can kill you 45 years later. And why this would go on the record as a 2011 automobile death. One would naturally think if you live 45 years after an accident, there must have been another cause for death. Will the auto insurance pay a death benefit after 45 years. Will this have to go to court. If the other driver was responsible, will he now face charges of vehicular homicide, or something. There just seems to be so many ramifications of this case. Any one have an answer for me? Doesn’t make sense to me. That Is How I See It. have been became Views: 358
Nationwide Move to IMS
Recently NASCAR announced it would move it’s popular Nationwide event from Clermont, Indiana’s Lucas Oil Raceway. (For those of you not familiar with Clermont, Indiana). Clermont is now a suburb of Indianpolis, just as Speedway, Home of IMS is. Confused. Indianapolis Motor Speedway is actually located in Speedway, Indiana. A town that has been swallowed up by Indianapolis. Clermont is a small town about 5 miles west of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Back to the move. NASCAR has been holding races here for many, many years. they have held the Busch Cup races, and the Craftsman Truck series. All very exciting races. Races that both Fans and Drivers enjoyed. Now for some reason, (probably the movement of equipment and fans from the INDY track to the Clermont track, OR just a power move by IMS people to eliminate a steadfast, competitor). INDY already hosts a Ho-Hum race, (most of the time), called the Brickyard 400. Would the Nationwide or Truck races be any different? I think not. Moving these races makes for a good time for a Siesta. Let us face it the only attraction of the Brickyard 400 is the history of the track. The first INDY 500’s were essentially Stock Cars. It has a big name, and a long history. Racing here is a sense of pride for the NASCAR drivers. And occasionally you will see a good race. I’m not sure if the road course at INDY is large enough to handle the bigger NASCAR vehicles, But I would rather see them race on the road course. But to move an exciting race like Nationwide, and Camping World to the big track. Ho-Hum,ZZZzzzzz. Be honest with yourself, if you would prefer to see a real race like is put on at Lucas Oil Raceway. BOYCOTT, the move. Don’t buy tickets for these races at the big track. This is the only thing NASCAR will understand. But just as sure as I am of writing this, People will give in and attend another sleeper. These are people who will follow NASCAR anywhere. Not RACE fans. That Is How I See It. they have Views: 99
