I Passed up a perfect week last week. And I may have not learned all that much. Because once again I will go against the numbers, and question the numbers on another game. Can you guess the two games in question? Going by they numbers my picks would be Denver over Baltimore San Francisco over Green Bay Atlanta over Seattle New England over Houston But now is the time you throw out all the numbers I am only confident about one game. That being Denver over Baltimore. No doubt in my mind about this one. With Manning healthy I believe the Ravens have little chance to advance. However, If Denver’s line falters and Manning is injured, and the score is close, Baltimore has a grand chance to advance. San Francisco and Green Bay. Green Bay has the more seasoned QB in Aaron Rodgers. But Collin Kaepernick: Where did he come from? Perhaps the most surprising QB of this season. He has saavy, Speed and a line that is capable of giving him the time he may need. San Francisco, on the other hand has a fairly awesome defensive team. That leaves us with the question: Which line will wear down first? Seattle and Atlanta. The BATTLE OF THE “Angry “BIRDS. Rookie Russell Wilson and Veteran Matt Ryan. Ryan has played in in 3 post season games and lacks a solitary win. He has so much to prove this game. BUT…can he do it this time? Wilson (the rookie). When you consider what this rookie has brought to Seattle, with his march toward Rookie of the year. Of course you know how much I like this QB. I have to say he is the total package. Although his game last week took a backseat to RGIII’s injury, Is there anything he can not do. Perhaps. Is there anything his team would not do him. Don’t think so. He is a true TEAM Leader. But here is that Veteran Vs the lone Rookie QB. Houston and New England. Pretty much of a toss up for me. Houston had a great season. Clinched their playoff berth early. New England, always tough. Just a tough call and I would have to say a total toss up. Houston has had a couple of off weeks so they should all be healthy. However I have seen these off weeks hurt more teams than help. HOW to call this one. First let me give you the picks if I played the numbers, and the confidence rating they would have received
GAME, CONFIDENCE,RUNNING SCORE Saturday 01-12-2013 4:30 pm Baltimore 38 @ DENVER 35 2 OT 4 (miss 4), 0,0 Saturday 01-12-2013 8:00 pm Green Bay 31 @ SAN FRANCISCO 45 2(HIT 2),2,2 Sunday 01-13-2013 1:00 pm Seattle 28 @ ATLANTA 30 1 (HIT 1), 1,3 Sunday 1-12-3013 4:30 pm Houston 28 @ New England 41 3 (HIT 3),3,6
Final Score 37 Now This is how I would most likely play it if money were on the line
GAME, CONFIDENCE,RUNNING SCORE Saturday 01-12-2013 4:30 pm Baltimore 38 @ DENVER 35 2 OT4(miss 4),0,0 Saturday 01-12-2013 8:00 pm Green Bay 31 @ SAN FRANCISCO 45 2(HIT 2),2,2 Sunday 01-13-2013 1:00 pm SEATTLE 28@ Atlanta 30 3,(miss 3), 0,2 Sunday 1-12-3013 4:30 pm HOUSTON 28@ New England 41 1, (miss 1), 0,2
Final Score 37 FINAL SCORE 69 Good Luck and may MY teams win. I guess I really missed the total score this time New England had more points than my Final Score . WOW !! What a game we started the day with. Double Over Time? Baltimore played a good game, and got many a favorable call or no call. Yes you have those in all games. As I had other business to tend to I have to admit to not seeing the entire game. Only the half attention you pay when company (who does not follow sports) drops by. Their business was important to them and I. It seemed to me DENVER made an abundance of miscues on their own, which contributed to their downfall. These errors made the game about 14 points closer than it should be. So with that said was it the seemingly aforementioned favorable call or no call. NO. It still came down to DENVER mistakes. As for the GREEN BAY-SAN FRANCISCO game. Sadly I must admit I was only able to see a couple of plays. I usually only sleep 4 hours a day. Then there are those days I may sleep all day and night. I fell asleep about 8:30 pm and woke up this morning, by way of a phone call, at about 8:45 this morning. NOT sure I need that much sleep. So much for that. Let’s see what today’s games bring. Disappointing game. Seattle @ Atlanta. I suppose we will never know who called the time out which eventually cost Seattle the win. Seattle coach,Ref,Ump,Atlanta, Atlanta player, Seattle player. My guess is the Seattle coach. But sure seemed to be denying it. You may wonder, like I did, WHERE WAS SEATTLE’s Defense. Well this is my story. At the end of the third quarter I personally called to Atlanta and asked for the Seattle Defensive Coordinator. This is what I was told, “I thought we played the 4:30 game” That is my story anyway. Then that last series the defense just stood watching , just like they did the first 3 quarters. I Am sure you would have to chalk this win not up to the outstanding play of Atlanta, But to the lack of D-E-F-E-N-S-E by the Seahawks. Russell Wilson you may not be the media darling as is RG III. But you have proven yourself to be ROOKIE OF THE YEAR. Small consolation to being SUPERBOWL CHAMPS. However your team is young and I’m sure adjustments will be made in the off season to eventually get you that Super Bowl Ring. Houston Vs New England. You watch this game and wonder “How did Houston get here to begin with. … Continue reading NFL PLAYOFFS WEEK TWO

NFL PLAYOFFS WEEK ONE
Here we are. Can you believe it is PLAYOFF time already? Playoffs are, or should be a hard call. All the previous weeks have been a combination of practice games, and winning enough games to make the PLAYOFFS. With the first kickoff of the season the main goal is to win. The second goal is to have a winning season. The next goal is to win enough games to make the playoffs. Then, (of course, no one wants to be eliminated in the first round). Thus you have that goal to meet. Next goal? THE SUPERBOWL. Then we have the ultimate. SUPERBOWL CHAMPIONSHIP. Who wouldn’t want their very own SUPERBOWL RING. I know I would. So what we have is pretty much a new season. Throw out all the rest of the games. This is what you have worked for. Won/loss records mean very little. It is all in the mindset of the TEAM. True you are still going to have the same players….but THINGS happen. The underdog has nothing to lose. The top dog has to prove they belong there. All the little things come into play. I remember while I was in high school. We had a team that was undefeated going into the SECTIONALS, which is the first rung of the State Championship rounds. Guess what We also had a team that had not won a game all year. They defeated that Undefeated team. They also beat the next best team coming into the tournament. The two extraordinary games they put back to back paid off in SECTIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. Unfortunately those two games were the only wins they had that year. They were eliminated in the first game of the next echelon. BUT I think you get my point. So, With that said here are my picks for the Week One Playoffs.
GAME, CONFIDENCE,RUNNING SCORE SATURDAY 01-05-2013 4:30 pm Cincinnati 13 @ HOUSTON 19 3 (HIT 3), 3,3 SATURDAY 01-05-2013 8:00 Minnesota 10 @ GREEN BAY 24 4 (HIT 4) , 4,7 SUNDAY 01-06-2013 1:00 pm INDIANAPOLIS 9 @ Baltimore 24 1 (miss 1), , 7 SUNDAY 01-06-2013 4:00pm SEATTLE 24 @ Washington 14 2(HIT 2),2,9 Final Score 44. FINAL SCORE 48
You may have noticed I went against the numbers for an Indianapolis win. Much of this game is based on history. The Colts had a rich history in Baltimore. But left some deep scars with their midnight move to Indianapolis. Therefore we have much of the afore mentioned points to come into play. The Colts of Indianapolis have a great deal to prove and essentially nothing to lose. Thus I have given them that wild WILD CARD, nod. Good Luck to all and may your team win, or at least make a good showing of themselves. Yes I know I could have had a perfect week. But once in a while you have to play an upset. Turned out to be not even a close game. BUT now I wonder of the 3 top rookie QBs Which I gave my feelings about in article regarding Peyton Mannings replacement. Is there any doubt in any ones mind that RUSSELL WILSON should be Rookie of the year? Check back for next weeks picks. Views: 101
How Do You PIck A Super Bowl Winner
How Do You PIck A Super Bowl Winner? After talking to many people I have found many different ways, people use to pick the Super Bowl Winner, even down to the score. I, like probably most of you look at past performance, and the statistics, etc. Some simply pick their hometown, (if they happen to be participating), team. Other may pick a team because they like a player,or because one the players came from their home town or state. But I know of one lady who won a football pool which included all the play off games. She had also used this method to win three consecutive NCAA basketball office pools. What is her favorite method of consistently choosing winners? Men this will make little sense to you. Women it may make more sense to you. HERE is her little secret. The coaches of each team. Have you guessed it yet? She looks at each coach, and selects the team with the more handsome looks. Well it works for her. Apparently. This next one was passed on to me from an Indiana resident. Just last night, as a matter of fact. He told me one of the local TV weatherman has chosen New York Giants by Nine (9). According to his recount of the weatherman’s method is really quite simple. Are you ready for this? Reportedly the temperature in New York; on Super Bowl Sunday will be 44 degrees. The temperature in Foxborough ,will be 35. A nine degree difference. This would indicate a final score New York Giants, 44. New England Patriots, 35. Although my informant did say the weatherman did make this disclaimer. He would not guarantee the 44-35 score. Only the 9 point difference in favor of New York’s Giants. So whatever your method may your team win. If you are interested I can tell you the score right now before the game even begins …………..0-0 Right? I kind of lean toward the New York Giants. I see a little more desire in their eyes. But I see revenge in the eyes of the New England Patriots. Will desire win out over revenge. I feel desire will lead to the win, because REVENGE can cause more mistakes, and if I am right the New England penalties, and errors will give New York Giants the edge. That Is How I See It. Indiana Super Bowl Vs Worker’s Rights
By now you all know of the struggles of the Union workers in Indiana. You also know Indiana is hosting the Super Bowl. It is too bad the legislators in Indiana refuse to listen to the people who elected them. It is too bad they do not have a sense of timing. But as we try to keep up on politics a little. (Remember I do not believe in POLITICS in GOVERNMENT). Politics get in the way of doing the bidding of the people. Looking back on the administration of one MITCH DANIELS, it is plain to see there has been no regard as to the welfare of the working man, in Indiana. He has led a government “of the people“ by “BIG BUSINESS” for “BIG BUSINESS” He finagles what ever Big Business wants, (after all they are the ones who line politicians pockets with the GREEN). It is just too bad the football fans from around the country who are visiting Indiana to be caught up in his MESS. But he tends to play on the big field. Regardless of the consequences of the STATE, COUNTRY, or PEOPLE he pretends to represent. From what I have seen of this person, I, personally can’t understand why anyone would vote for him in the first place. But the citizens of Indiana apparently did. People of America would you,(how could you), ever consider someone of his caliber for President of the United States. Oh yeah that’s right you elected Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama. Nevermind. So FOOTBALL fans you have a right to blame the Hoosiers, (no disrespect to Indiana University); for trying to spoil your stay in Indiana. Had they had any sense they would not have put Daniels in the position of TSAR. So I recommend you just ignore the fact Daniels intentionally put you in the middle of his MESS. Enjoy the weather Indiana is experiencing. Enjoy the Game. NFL owner, remember what Daniels has put you in the middle of his MESS. Remember this well if Indiana ever wants you back for another Super Bowl. That Is How I See It. PS. I remember seeing one of his campaign speeches in which he states would never back or sign any legislation that interfered with worker rights. Views: 144
Eli Manning Peyton Manning
It would seem the MEDIA has forgotten who is playing in the SUPER BOWL. Hey you guys it is ELI MANNING who is quarterbacking the New York Giants in the BIG GAME. Sure everyone is concerned about Peyton’s future in football. But really little brother ELI should be the focus of your attention. It is his moment in the sun. LET HIM ENJOY IT !!! I could be wrong, but I do not remember Peyton being asked a bunch of questions about ELI when he was preparing to play in the SUPER BOWL. Shouldn’t real sport journalists, be focused on the game at hand. I’m pretty sure, by now, Peyton is competent to answer questions about himself after all these years in the spot light. Being a little brother myself, I am perhaps prejudiced. I love my brother. But can I enjoy a little attention regarding my accomplishments. Meanwhile, back at the MEDIA rooms, PATRIOT QB TOM BRADY is able to soak up all the glory befitting a SUPER BOWL QB. Please Sports Media. Enough is Enough. Give ELI MANNING the same respect as you give TOM BRADY. Big brother, Peyton, will be around after the SUPER BOWL and will know more about which direction his future will take him. But now is ELI and the New York Giants time. Just as it is Tom Brady and the New England Patriots time. That Is How I See It. Views: 206
Colts New Coach
Continuing to follow the drama of the Indianapolis Colts. We had a Super Bowl contending team a year ago. This year we saw that team drop to a dismal 2-14 team. Most everyone will agree the loss of Peyton Manning the Colts were no longer the MASSIVE offensive machine it was. Thus allowing the opponent to exploit the weaknesses of the defense. (Which was less a concern of teams prior to the meltdown). With the Colts not able to score: their opponents, could concentrate less on stopping the scoring, and more on SCORING themselves. Again, this goes back to the Polians’, and Irsay’s failure to foresee the impact of a Manning-less led offense. So as is the usual case the lower level people must bear the brunt of the failure. (Regardless of their involvement). Apparently Jim Irsay has given new General Manager, Ryan Grigson, CARTE BLANCHE as far as team personnel is concerned. HOWEVER: I could be wrong, and probably am, the new COACH has been an employee of the team for this last season. I do not think Mr. Grigson has any real say here. I feel Jim Irsay made the decision to replace JIM CALDWELL last year. The person I am thinking of may be able to lead a PRO team. BUT I personally have a problem with his ethics. Whether the COLTS fans will share my concern remains to be seen. (I doubt if they will. As we saw with the lockout, most “fans” don’t really care about such things only if their team wins). The CENTRAL changes in the coaching ranks I see are these two. COACH: Former OHIO STATE COACH JIM TRESSEL. OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR: Former Colts QB PEYTON MANNING. Regardless, the COLTS, will have to find a place for Manning. That Is How I See It. find find find Views: 173
A Little Lesson on Media Spin
As I watch the NEWS or read the NEWS. I have often noted how the media tells me I didn’t hear or see what I watched happen. Have any of you noticed that too. To be short and to the point if you read my Super Bowl Special you will notice that I correctly predicted the Green Bay Packers by 2. I really did. Some of you may have thought I was talking 2 points. But by putting NEWS media spin on what I said was “Because of that heart I give the win to Green Bay by TWO”. (field goals). See all of you who thought I goofed were misunderstanding what I said. I really was referring to to points. But you see how the MEDIA can twist things. It could have been 2 points, 2 field goals, or 2 TD’s. I would have still been right (Per Media Spin) Trust what you see and hear (in person). Not what the MEDIA says you see and hear It was probably one of the best Super Bowl Games in a long time. It went to the wire. That Is How I See It. Views: 155
Super Bowl XLV (Special Edition)
Super Bowl XLV (Xtra Large Vista)? The eyes of almost all NFL fans are on Dallas Texas. Who will emerge from the battlefield with the coveted title “SUPER BOWL CHAMPION’ Title of 2011? The reason I said almost all NFL fans, Some are not real NFL Fans. You have your TEAM fans. If their team is not playing they just aren’t into it, and could care less. Unfortunately for the TEAMS base fans. they have to travel halfway. or more, across the US to attend this event. Face it fans would it not have been nice if Dallas and Indianapolis could have swapped years? The proximity of Indianapolis to both Green Bay and Pittsburgh would have certainly made it easier to attend. We can’t count the weather in this equation, as both cities have had plenty of bad weather. However I must admit I believe the Hoosier State has more experience dealing with this weather. The proximity of all facilities to Lucas Oil Stadium would have been a tremendous asset to visitors. But, now it is time for all to select a winning team. Some will pick the Steelers because they are dedicated Steelers fans. Others will choose the Packers, because they are Packer fans. If you are not a Packer or Steeler fan you may have a favorite of the two. Or you may look at the stats and select a team. Believe it or not some of you will wish for one team to win but if you were betting you would bet on the other due to statistics. As I look at the statistics they seem very equal, even though the Steelers have a better record, remember neither team were supposed to be here according to the Experts. (Green Bay even more so). I look at the Steelers see an experienced Super Bowl Team. A team with more power, general experience, and a lot of desire to win another Ring. I look at Green Bay and I see a team that has overcome odds to reach this plateau. I see a team owned by their fan base. I see a hungry team with nothing to lose, But most of all I see a team that has GREAT HEART. Because of that heart I give the win to Green Bay by TWO. That Is How I See It. Views: 107
