Europeans A More Relaxed People

I have just been contemplating my busy lifestyle.  Which by the way is probably not as busy as yours.  (That is why I have time to write these little opinions of mine). It comes to mind that most of us here in the United States, are at least a little addicted to sports.  We get excited at baseball, basketball, wrestling, football, auto racing, and a number of other sports, Sorry if I failed to mention your favorite. Then it occurred to me the Europeans must have a more relaxed lifestyle.  When you look at all of the sports we enjoy.  The smack of the ball coming off the bat, the nervous tension when a runner tries to steal a base, the anticipation of a home run or fly out.  The constant motion of basketball,  the 3 pointers, will that winning free throw rim in or out.  That last second tip in, or the foul that caused us to lose. Wrestling, the real WRESTLING, like they do in high school, not that scripted stuff on TV.  It is all you have for up to 6 minutes, (longer if it is a tie).  You can’t let up , even for a second or you may lose. Football, you have 22 men and 7 zebras on the field.  It is a game of battle strategy.  The ball is the bomb.  The 11 offensive men are trying to deliver the bomb to the opposing teams,  camp.  The 11 defensive players are trying to stop that delivery or if possible get possession of the bomb and turn it on the other teams camp.  The 7 Zebras are there to monitor the action and assure that no team gets an unfair advantage.  (Anyway that is what they are supposed to do.  Ask any fan of the losing team and they will tell you differently). Auto Racing. We have so many varieties to choose from.  Take NASCAR  for example we have  43 large heavy cars being driven by athletes in top shape.  Sometimes battling on tracks that if strung out in single file would have the lead car touching the last car’s bumper.  Sometimes driving over 600 miles, in unbearable heat, shifting gears, stopping for fuel, tire changes, and dodging each other. These things we Americans find exciting. Now for the Europeans.  They must have a very sedate lifestyle.  When you look at the things that get them excited.  Formula One.  A parade of overpaid computer geeks who have computers do almost all the racing.  The driver steers, and occasionally brake.  The only time there is any racing going on is during the qualifying, which is all the cars driving around the track, for some time period, and the one who records the fastest time during this drive around gets  to lead the start of the “race“.  There is rarely any on track passing.  I remember the first race I saw the leader spun out in a turn and still maintained the lead.  Lead the race from start to finish.  Whoopee!  But for some reason the Europeans find this exciting and are very much into it.  To me this not racing.  Had I been born in Europe, I might.  (Doubt it.) Then we have that game that little girls played when we boys were playing football.  We call it Soccer,  they call it by other names like footie.  You have 22 people on the field (just like in Football) NOTE the number may vary depending on the league).  One referee who has “full authority”  to enforce the Laws Of The Game.   (They don’t have rules.  they have 17 LAWS OF THE GAME).  Unlike Football they are not allowed to touch the ball with their hands, Unless they are special,  These special players are called goalkeepers.  The games I watch there is more contact in a non-contact game like Basketball,  than is allowed in Soccer.  (HOWEVER), I have seen some European games found some mild contact which if caught by an official draws a penalty.  If the contact is deemed excessive a player might be punished by being given a YELLOW card.  By being given a Yellow card the player is said to be BOOKED. the referee writes the offenders name in his book.  A second YELLOW card  can lead to a RED card,  Even more excessive misbehavior and he may be punished with a RED card.  The RED card is usually the one which sends the player off the field and no substitute allowed.  The average score for a 90 minute game is 2.48 goals.  Very BORING, in American terms.  But the Europeans find this exciting and apparently they take it so seriously they often times end in  having a free for all.  (Maybe this is where their excitement comes in.) While I find Soccer a game for athletically challenged people.  I must admit that all the running is a good way to keep in shape for sports. GM CEO Asks For $1 Gas Tax Hike

You may recall an article I wrote about how people in our area who drive GM products do not seem to be in touch with rules of the road,  WELL how about this. General Motors CEO Dan Akerson said he would favor a $1 dollar hike in gasoline tax, including a 50 cent immediate hike… are you ready for this  “To take advantage of the recent DECLINE in gas prices.”   Did I miss this DECLINE?? According to Akerson  this would put people in the position of buying more fuel efficient cars and lessen the burden on the auto industry to meet future mileage goals. I know I can’t afford  a new car period let alone one of those HIGH-Priced hybrids and the like.  I’m sure I’m not alone here.  Heck it’s getting to the point I could not afford a USED car as those prices have gone up so much.  A friend who sells used cars told me used cars are getting harder to buy.  New car dealers who once brought the cars to auction are now selling them on their lots.  I once had a New car dealer tell me he would not keep a car on the lot if it had 50,00o miles or more on it.  Now I see he has cars with 150,000 miles with a price of $5,000,oo  (or more).  A friend traded off his 2000 Oldsmobile for a new car and was only offered $1000.00 trade in.  Later the dealer had it on his lot with a $5,900.oo price tag.  There is gold in them thar used cars. Now, I know the CEO of GM can afford the tax increase.  Heck, he probably doesn’t even buy gas, as evidenced in his statement about the decline in gas prices.  I’m sure he doesn’t buy his cars as they are most likely part of his compensation package.  In other words he isn’t among the core people of our country.  He hasn’t a clue about what he is saying.  He is only looking at saving his company money so he can get a bigger bonus. Before I close this entry.  Greg Martin, Gm’s Washington spokesperson confirmed Akerson’s statement reflects Gm’s VIEW.  But GM will not actively pursue the passage of such a tax, as it would be very difficult to get enacted. I suppose that is how GM drivers feel too.  After all they are supporting the company by buying GM products. That Is How I See It.   Views: 186

Is Autopen Signature What We Voted For?

Recently our Senators, and Representatives voted to extend  the INTRUSIVE Patriot Act.  Doesn’t this “Patriot Act need a little scrutiny.  Is it really necessary to give the government all the police power it now maintains?  It’s “intent’ was to give the government the ability to seek out terrorists,  But how do we “The People”  know it isn’t being used to monitor the law abiding average citizen.  We DON’T. But, what this post is about is the fact that our President Obama, was once again traveling/vacationing.  Has anyone else been able to vacation as much as he does?  Other Presidents traveled but mostly for our Country’s business.  Most of Obama’s travel appear to me to be more vacation than business.  An important issue which affects the average citizen’s rights deserve the full attention of our elected leader.  But where is he?  Not in our country. He could not even come home to SIGN this important bill.  Does this give him a sense of “I am not responsible for this bill”.  Instead of being here to sign the bill, it was signed with an AUTOPEN. Autopens are mechanical means of FORGERY.  They are usually used by politicians and others to sign letters to give them a more authentic look. The Autopen uses a real pen to “forge” / copy a persons signature.  So if you get a letter that in other days would have been signed by a secretary, or rubber stamp.  In other words the sole purpose is to fool people into thinking the politician or celebrity has taken the time to actually sign their name and give a more personal connection. Definition of Forge:  To imitate (handwriting, a Signature, etc.) fraudulently; fabricate a forgery. My question is this.  Is this forged signature CONSTITUTIONALLY acceptable? Does our President take his obligation to “WE THE PEOPLE”  so lightly. Let me know what you think.  Better yet let our Government know. That Is How I See It   have been Views: 179

Memorial Day

Formerly called DECORATION DAY.  MEMORIAL DAY is a day set aside to honor our Military men and women who died in service of our country.  Celebrated on the last Monday of May. Established to honor the fallen soldiers of our Civil War, both Union, and Confederate.  Later extended to all honor all our soldiers killed in defense of our country, the United States of America.  Now days we also take this time to remember all our loved ones. I think many Americans have forgotten the reason we have Memorial Day.  To many it has become a day off with pay.  A day of outdoor grilling, and party.  A long weekend for a mini vacation.  And to some The Greatest Spectacle In Racing,  The Indy 500. It is great we can have all these things.  But let’s at least take a moment of this day to remember our fallen soldiers who by their death gave us this opportunity. IMPORTANT UPDATE FOURTH AMMENDMENT

I just read in USA Today an article which states our United States Supreme Court by a vote of 8 to 1 voted to support WARRANTLESS ENTRY. Essentially, from what I understand, the 8 justices voted to leave it up to the individual POLICE , THE PEOPLE, no claim to the 4th Amendment.   We all know what that means. Now I can’t say about all Law Enforcement Officers,  in the area I live our Police feel they are above the law, as it is.  This disturbing ruling just gives them more power they aren’t equipped to handle.  How many times have we recently read where our people sworn to “SERVE and PROTECT”  have overstepped their boundaries, and above the law.  I can’t tell you how many have been caught and punished.  But more have not been caught.  I have seen them make arrests for underage drinking, confiscating the beverages, the late saw them selling to underage drinkers from the trunk of their cruiser.  I know of one Chief of Police who became a cop because he was arrested in Florida for drugs.  His father just happened to be mayor of his home town and convinced the Florida Police his son was a member of our local police force and was working undercover.  When he came back he was on the police force. We all know of his continued involvement in drugs, but are helpless to  do anything about it.  A member of our County Sheriff’s department was investigating him.  He was STRONGLY advised to “back off”.  Our county commissioners are pretty much in the same boat.  When I asked them about it I was told this.  “If we act, we cannot be sure that our children or other family members may not be arrested for drugs.  He has a reputation of planting drugs, on innocent people.  Or in their vehicles or homes. Only Ruth Bader Ginsburg voted against this action stating the it was an affront to our constitutional 4th Ammendment Right. That Is How I See It.             have been became Views: 154

Fourth Ammendment Overturned?

MUNSTER, INDIANA.  A small town approximately 29 miles SE of Chicago, Illinois. Court rules CITIZENS do not have the right to resist illegal entry of  POLICE. Is this a violation of our Fourth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America.  This amendment in our BILL OF RIGHTS, (The rights of people),  reads.   RIGHT OF SEARCH AND SEIZURE RESTRICTED The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. You may want to read this again just to be sure you read it the same as I do.  Which I interpret to mean.  People are to be SECURE in the knowledge that the GOVERNMENT, (police included) can not just enter your house, without either your invitation, or acquiring a warrant and undergoing the proper channels to secure the warrant.  If these rules are not followed it is  CONSTITUTIONALLY ILLEGAL entry.  Just the same as if they were burglars. HOWEVER, the INDIANA SUPREME COURT ruled 3 to 2 against the 4th Amendment.  Stating, “The Court is the place to resist”. In other words we will decide (after the fact),. No properly issued warrant is necessary for police to storm your house, and do whatever they please.  Then if you survive, and are willing and can afford to fight in court The STATE, (essentially, the employer of the police, will decide if it was legal). The story behind this ruling is this.  A man yelled at and blocked police entry to his home during an alleged DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE, call.  (I say Alleged because I found no evidence to justify such a call in my investigation.  I do not have access to the records, and did not travel the distance for further evidence.  Therefore it may have been called in by someone).  By the way the man was tasered.  I don’t know if any other charges were filed or if they even found anything. This is one of those things the ACLU (American Civil  liberties, Union) was created to  protect.  But most likely will not pursue.  Because they are now the ANTI CHRISTIAN LAWYERS UNION,  and will only get involved if it is a way to remove GOD from our country. Do we now live in a POLICE STATE? Let me know if you think I am wrong,  Or express your opinion if you think I am right’ That Is How I See It.       have been involved Views: 185

Nazi Death Camp Guard Convicted

John Demjanjuk  (dem-YAHN’-yuk).  A name most of you have heard, recently in the news.  Mr. Demjanjuk was born 91 years ago in Ukrainian SSR (Russia).  His given name at birth was Ivan Mykolaiovych Demianiuk.  Was convicted as an accessory to murder of 28,060 people at Sobibar camp in Poland.  He was sentenced to 5 years in prison.  Pretty minor time for the number of people killed and the families affected. John Demjanjuk served as a Soviet soldier fighting the Germans.  As the story goes,  he was wounded, captured and held prisoner of war, before joining the Vlasov Army (an anti-communist group formed by Soviet POWs and others to fight with the Germans against the Soviets)  This was near the end of the war. Not knowing all the facts, if he were tortured, or brainwashed.  This would seem to be a treasonous act against the Soviet government. Demjanjuk served as a “Wachmann”, the lowest rank of volunteers subordinate to the German SS. from March, 27 1943 until mid September 1943.  About 6 months.  I personally find it appalling that the Nazis could kill that many people,  so ruthlessly, in that amount of time. Demjanjuk came to the United States in 1952, was granted citizenship, and worked as an autoworker until his retirement. And now suffers a variety of ailments and needs medical attention daily. In the 1988 he was accused of being the guard called “Ivan  the Terrible.  Convicted and sentenced to death, until the conviction was overturned as a case of mistaken identity. Now the things that bother me in his case. 1. He was stripped of his US Citzenship before being convicted.  As a US citizen you are innocent until proven guilty.  Therefore no call for losing citizenship.  But as we all know “INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY” is not the way it works,  Just as in your workplace;  The company makes a charge against you.  You are guilty unless you can prove yourself innocent.  A good example of this is in your place of employment.  The company in most cases, (Unless you are a UNION member) Is the prosecutor, jury, and  JUDGE). 2. If he was of the lowest rank, he probably had a choice (if he actually participated) KILL or be KILLED.  I can relate this to an incident I had when I was a factory worker.  The parts I was making were no good,  we tried to everything we could to make good parts, but the machine just could not make them.  I told my foreman, who said to run them anyway.  Now my choices were run them, and get  a write up. Ask if it were a ‘DIRECT ORDER,  and if told it was a   “DIRECT ORDER”,  I could refuse it and be fired on the spot. Or run them, supposedly without the danger of a write up.  I ran them.  The next day I got a write up anyway. So I’m not saying anything on the verdicts.  or the trials.  I am just raising these questions in the interest of justice.  There are other things to consider than whether a guard was stationed at a Death Camp.  His superiors who made the decision should be the ones who paid the price unless he voluntarily did acts of this sort. Of course we all know the winner of wars write the history.  Had the Nazis won he may have been considered a Hero. Feel free to reply with your comments, how you feel about this trial By the way according to German law he is free during the period from now until his appeal process is closed. Dollars equal Taxes

Have any of you considered how much tax is generated by a single dollar bill over it’s life?  If anyone knows will you  please let men know? Say I make $1 a day.  Out of this dollar I pay taxes.  First right off the top is Federal Income Tax, FICA, State Income tax, and Local Option tax.  I’m probably forgetting something here (remember I haven’t had a check in 3 years now.  Then we have State sales tax, property tax, excise tax, wheel tax, we pay sales tax on anything we buy except some food.  We have gas tax, NOT just STATE, FEDERAL, (don’t forget the sales tax here too) and we have road tax. There are probably, I’ll bet taxes we do not know we pay. So now you take all these taxes on my dollar, multiply it by everyone who gets my dollar.  Because they have to pay these same taxes. You know I think could retire on the tax that only one dollar makes. That Is How I See It. they have Views: 150

Is Bin Laden Dead?

I wonder if Bin Laden is really dead.  Or has he been dead for sometime? several years ago psychic Sylvia declared “Bin Laden is dead”.  Now Obama says Osama is dead.  Which is right. For you conspiracists  out there.  Doesn’t it make you wonder?  We know that these leaders like Bin Laden, Castro, and Hussein all have doubles out there. Scenario 1: We all know Obama needs a boost right now.  What if Obama said to Osama I need a big boost right now.  I know you are tired of running.  Let’s do this.  I will send a group of my military in, we kill one of your doubles, dispose of the body rapidly so no one will be able to get any proof positive it isn’t you.  Osama says, sounds like a win -win situation to me.  Let’s do it. Scenario 2. Sylvia Browne was right.  Osama has been dead for some time.  Obama repeats the same as in scenario 1, but with one of the current leaders.  They say OK it will help you fool the people of the free world into thinking you did something.   OUTCOME.  The same. I think  (I admit I know little about their religion) the Muslims believe people are to be buried in a 24 hour frame after death.  So why the rush to bury him at sea.  Where he can not be dug up and DNA tests, and other tests made. That is my question.  No real proof it was Bin Laden. I hear they did a DNA test that matched his sister’s DNA.  BUT if they had hers could not they have used hers, or another close relative to make matching DNA’s? I think there had to be a body to fool the soldiers.  BUT.  Was it the real Bin Laden? Maybe it was. How will we ever know? That Is How I See It.     several years they have Views: 120

Fast Food Garbage

Remember when you could go to an eatery, and order a hamburger or cheeseburger, and paid extra for onion, lettuce, or tomato?  Those were really scrumptious burgers.  Usually ground  fresh that day.  I remember we had a little shanty of an eatery, only about 8 stools, and a stand up counter on the outer wall.  We would go in, order our hamburger, fries, and a milk shake.  I never got the fixins. (occasionally I would get onion on my burger).  I preferred my sandwich plain.  I would order my milk shake made with chocolate milk, chocolate ice cream, and chocolate syrup.  MMMMM triple chocolate shake.  We could sit right there and watch the hamburger shaped, (it was usually stored in  a ball and then flattened on the grill).  You could watch them make the milk shake. We had our Root beer stands, and drive up restaurants, too. It was the same thing,  good quality meat, and you paid extra for the fixings. Then one fateful day they built a new fast food joint.  It had a futuristic style building and was called The Satellite.  I tried it one time.  The meat was very bland, and of poor quality.  Now some of my friends who would get the fixins, thought these were OK because their sandwiches were cheaper, and they didn’t have to pay for the lettuce, onion, tomato or their special sauce, which was mostly mayonnaise. This was when the term “garbage” came into use, as with all the fixins it looked like garbage on their sandwich.  To compete with this chain our other fine establishments started putting the garbage one their burgers.  Then they realized they would have to buy cheaper meat in order to compete.  That is when the quality in most of our eating establishments sank to the bottom,  Today we still have no good place to eat.  We have many places to eat, but you can’t find good food at any of them.  The eateries have to put the garbage on to give any hint of taste to their sandwiches. My question is:  WHY do I have to  PAY for this garbage when I request they omit from my sandwich.  Granted the meat has no quality flavor on it’s own.  That is why you need to put a lot of salt on them.  I wouldn’t mind paying more for quality sandwiches.  But having to pay for the garbage I don’t get really irks me. Bting back the days of quality meat and paying extra if you want the garbage. That Is How I See It.     find find find Views: 126
