RAIDERS CLINCH PLAYOFF BERTH ! (1st Time since 2002) PATRIOTS CLINCH AFC EAST TITLE ! SEAHAWKS CLINCH NFL WEST TITLE ! RECAP WEEK 14: Let’s see; There was only 1 OT Game. New York Jets 23 – San Fransciso 49’ers 17. End of Regulation it was 17-17. NO TIES. We saw four games decided by 3 pts or less. Denver Broncos 10 TENNESSEE TITANS 13. Arizona Cardinals 23 – MIAMI DOLPHNS 26. Chicago Bears 17 – DETROIT LIONS 20. AND. Dallas Cowboys losing 7 – NEW YORK GIANTS 10. As for the NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS I noticed a small share of weakness with Rob Gronkowski MIA. Maybe it will show up more when they play a stronger team. Maybe not. What happened with SEATTLE SEAHAWKS? That poor showing cannot reflect entirely on missing RB Thomas Rawls. Granted the GREEN BAY PACKERS are not a team to be taken lightly. Buuut! One has to wonder where Seattle left their DEFENSE. Did they get off the flight somewhere along the way and just wander the airport? SAME, can be said tor the OFFENSE. Russell Wilson played a very good game; (considering he had no protection AT ALL). NOW, Had they had the THREAT of Thomas Rawls, perhaps he could have helped keep them in the game. It was a cinch the receivers could not hang on to the ball if it had a handle. Way to many dropped passses and missed assignments. Some how this week, Coach Carroll must find the solution to this problem, If they are to stay in the hunt for another SUPER BOWL APPEARANCE/WIN. For those of you who do not know how confidence ranking goes, let me explain. If we were playing an office pool,(which we ARE NOT). The object is to score the most points. To obtain the score YOU rank the teams by how confident you are a team will win its game. EXAMPLE: Say this week we have 16 games. The team you are most confident will win you would assign the number 16 and follow down to the team you are least confident in and assign that number 1. We use the Monday night game as a TIE BREAKER. The tie is broke by the closest to the total (that is the COMBINED score of the two participating tams) final score, without going over. If we were playing this is how my sheet would look; My pick will be in bold Capital letters. you can use circling, underlining, or highlighting. I will show my correct points in Bold YOU can adopt the scoring described above. Or, the optional method. A negative score for missed games. We will continue to get a positive score for correct predictions. EXAMPLE: if you scored 1 pt on the first game and you had 15 pt on the second game and lost you would still have a Positive 1. HOWEVER. with the same scenario new scoring system would result with a -14 score. I will fill in my picks Thursday. Until then feel free to: Just copy and paste for your own Fun Pool Use. Or to see if you can beat me. IF YOU SEE I MADE A MISS COPY OF THE GAMES AND TIMES FEEL FREE TO EMAIL ME AND TELL ME I GOOFED. * Keep in mind; NFL sometimes uses, “FLEXIBLE SCHEDULEING”, which means they may change game times. NFL CONFIDENCE PICKS WEEK 14 12/08-11- 12/2016
RECAP WEEK 13: Last week we had no OT’s. No Ties. We did have 2 blow out games. Both were PRIMETIME games. (What happened to flexible scheduling? ) Sunday night the Seattle SEAHAWKS blew away the Carolina PANTHERS, 40-7. 33 Pt difference. That is more than some teams scored, Heck, that is more some game totals. The other was the romp of the Indianapolis COLTS over the New York Jets. 41-10. I can remeber when these two teams were what I considered a real rivalry. It didn’t matter whether the Jets Or Colts were having an outstanding season with the other having a mediocre to terrible season. When the two teams met it was a toss up. We are in crunch time now. This week and only 3 more remain in regular season. We saw Teams, SOME of the TOP teams KEY players suffer season ending injuries. How will this play out. If you go by my philosophy; NEXT man up should perform as well as the man he replaces, (Or real close to it). That means little difference in the play. IF THE COACH HAS DONE HIS JOB. It takes time to adjust. But a really good coach will have planned for something like this and worked THAT NEXT MAN UP enough with the team, there will be familiarity, and YES there will be a little difference. Our Basketball coach always said “We have no STARTERS. Every player has something to contribute”. If we play a team that is, or has a player with a special gift, Any one of you may start if I feel you have WHAT we need to stop or slow it down. So be prepared to start any game”. So, Yes due to talent levels, that INJURED player most likely has his SPECIAL talent and is the best on the team at that special job, has more game experience. B-U-T, maybe the next up is only a tic away, With maybe a little help from a team mate who happens to have a lighter assignment this week helps a little…..WHO knows. For those of you who do not know how confidence ranking goes, let me explain. If we were playing an office pool,(which we ARE NOT). The object is to score the most points. NFL CONFIDENCE PICKS WEEK 13 12/01- 04 – 05/2016
The final four for the NCAA Football Championship is out. I would like to know HOW Ohio State, which did not make the BIG TEN Championship game. DID not win their Big Ten Division Championship team is IN the Playoff. Penn St. Won their Division. Penn State won the BIG TEN CHAMPIONSHIP GAME. PENN ST. handed Ohio St. Their lone loss this year. HOW could you put Ohio St. In and Penn St. Out. M-O-N-E-Y!! Most likely. I heard the “talk”, that Ohio St. is a bigger draw than Penn St. Just would like to know; if you leave out the M-O-N-E-Y. What qualified a Non-conference winner to replace a conference CHAMPION. RECAP: Week 12 saw only 1 OT Game. That being theChiefs victory over the Broncos. A mere 2 games within 3 pts. Panthers 32 Raiders 35. AND the OT game Chiefs 30 Broncos 27. My big surprise was the defeat of the Seahawks. Unfortunately where I live we only have 2 stations which broadcast the 16:05 game or 16:25 game. (This isn’t the first time I hav missed a game because one or the other failed their commitment to broadcast a game). I understand from what I read Seattle had several starters injured. AND Wilson being sacked 4 times just in the first half. But that is no excuse. The BACKUP PLAYERS at this level should be able to perform too. But as Russell Wilson said; “THEY MADE THEIR PLAYS AND WE DIDN’T” For those of you who do not know how confidence ranking goes, let me explain. If we were playing an office pool,(which we ARE NOT). NFL CONFIDENCE PICKS WEEK 12 11/24 – 27 – 28/2016
RECAP: No OTS, last week. We saw a mere 2 games with 3 or less difference. New Orleans Saints lost to the Carolina Panthers, 23-20. The other game was a 2 point loss by the Kansas City Chiefs, to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers; 19-17. This week proved to be full of hard picks, for me. 11, 12, 13, picks tied in mathematical equations. NFL Confidence Picks Week 9 11-3-6-7/ 2016
CUBS WIN!!! CUBS WIN!!! What an exciting WORLD SERIES. One of the best in ages. Two teams with long abscenes from a TITLE. battled down to the wire. The Cubs join an elite club of teams who have come from a 3-1 deficit to WIN THE WORLD SERIES. It took all 7 games and top that off with an EXTRA INNING. What a way to end the seanson. AND SO FAR I HAVE HEARD OF NO MIS-BEHAVIOR ON THE PART OF EITHER TEAMS FANS. Job well done by both teams. RECAP: This makes the second week in a row we have had a game end in a tie. Last week it was, tow of the best teams. Seattle Seahawks and Arizona Cardinals, which ended 6 to 6. (I would be amiss if I fail to mention Seattles QB was and is still playing hurt; HOWEVER, moved his team down the field for what SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE WINNING FG. This week was a mild surprise with the Washington Redskins playing to a tie wiht the Cincinnati Bengals. There were three OT games. The afore mentioned Redskins and Bengals 27-27. Oakland Raiders, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with the Raiders pulling out a 6 pt win. Sunday nights game Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys. Dallas scored a 29 -23 win. There were 2 games decided by 3 or less points. Jets over Browns 31-28. Falcons over Packers 33-32. How about that? Three (3) OT games and a ONE (1) pointer. Pretty good games, I must say. At this time I would like to point out (not counting the non game tie), I only missed TWO (2) games this week. HOW DID YOU DO? REMEMBER TO SET YOUR CLOCK BACK 1, (one), HOUR, SUNDAY MORNING AT 2 am, (If you live in one of the states which belive they can save TIME, and use it later, or whatever their mythical belief is. For those of you who do not know how confidence ranking goes, let me explain. If we were playing an office pool,(which we ARE NOT). The object is to score the most points. To obtain the score YOU rank the teams by how confident you are a team will win its game. EXAMPLE: Say this week we have 16 games. NFL Confidence Picks Week 8 10/27-30-31/2016
This week was a tough one to pick. 7 games, (under y mathematical method of ranking), were all with in 1/2 point of each other. The Raiders and Buccanneers came out a tie, and was not one of the 7. So that makes 8 really tough games to pick. Unless I catch the last minute change you will see the original schedule. GOOD LUCK TO ALL. NFL Confidence Picks Week 7 10/20-23-24/2016
Just a word regarding the disrespect SOME “PRO” athletes are showing our COUNTRY. We all have rules we follow at our work place. We don’t always agree with. But while at work we have to follow those rules. What we do on our own time is up to us. These ATHLETES, (Although they don’t like to think of it this way THEY are EMPLOYEES. THEY SHOULD FOLLOW RULES SET BY THEIR EMPLOYERS. Actions of employees AT WORK, Reflect on the employer. Thus if a Pro Athlete, shows disrespect for the country, apparently their EMPLOYER, must approve of the action and supports it. If the employee doesn’t agree HE or SHE can take it up with their UNION. Until an agrrement is reached the employee can either accept the rule, (for the time being), OR SUSPENDED WITHOUT PAY. Now this is how things are handled in real life. We must remember they do not live in the real world, (apparently). So by allowing this show of disrespect must be condoned by OWNERS, AND SURE DO NOT DESERVE MY AMERICAN MONEY. I could list many, many times I have been on the losing end of DISCRIMINATION. Some was due to government sanctions, and many more were due to BIGOTRY. BUT never did I show disrespect for my COUNTRY. For those of you who do not know how confidence ranking goes, let me explain. If we were playing an office pool,(which we ARE NOT). The object is to score the most points. To obtain the score YOU rank the teams by how confident you are a team will win its game. Unless I catch the last minute change you will see the original schedule. FLEXIBLE SCHEDULING Allows teams to play their way onto the Sunday night schedule In 2006 the NFL implemented a primetime “flexible scheduling” element on Sundays in Weeks 10-15 and in Week 17. In 2014 that was extended so that games between Weeks 5 and 17 could be affected by flex scheduling. However, only two games may be flexed into Sunday Night between Week 5 and 10. Flexible scheduling ensured quality matchups on Sunday night in those weeks and gave surprise teams a chance to play their way onto primetime. The NBC Sunday night time slot for “flex” weeks lists the game tentatively scheduled for Sunday night. Only Sunday afternoon games are eligible to be moved to Sunday night, in which case the tentatively scheduled Sunday night game will be moved to an afternoon start time. Flexible scheduling will not be applied to games airing on Thursday, Saturday or Monday nights. Just as the six major college football conferences have done for many years, the NFL has the flexibility to move the start times of games on Sundays, using a 12-day notice format. For example, a game scheduled for a Sunday could move from a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff to an 8:15 p.m. start, but the change would be made and announced no later than the prior Tuesday, 12 days prior. Sunday afternoon games, as in the past, can still be moved between 1:00 and 4:05 or 4:25 p.m. ET. In Week 17, in order to ensure a Sunday night game with playoff implications, the decision to move the start time may be made on six days notice. NFL Flexible Scheduling 101 Begins Sunday of Week 5 In effect during Weeks 5-17 Up to 2 games may be flexed into Sunday Night between Weeks 5-10 Only Sunday afternoon games are subject to being moved into the Sunday night window. The game that has been tentatively scheduled for Sunday night during flex weeks will be listed at 8:15 p.m. ET. The majority of games on Sundays will be listed at 1:00 p.m. ET during flex weeks except for games played in Pacific or Mountain Time zones which will be listed at 4:05 or 4:15 p.m. ET. No impact on Thursday, Saturday or Monday night games. The NFL will decide (after consultation with CBS, FOX, NBC) and announce as early as possible the game being played at 8:15 p.m. ET. The announcement will come no later than 12 days prior to the game. The NFL may… Continue reading NFL Confidence Picks Week 7 10/20-23-24/2016
