NFL Confidence Picks Week 2

Okay!  So I didn’t do so well last week.  But in my defense  there were a lot of surprises, many upsets.  and the first week is always the hardest. It is the first time we actually see FOOTBALL play. Preseason is merely a scrimmage, with little emphasis on winning. 2014 NFL Team Schedule For those of you who do not know how confidence ranking goes, let me explain. If we were playing an office pool,(which we ARE NOT).  The object is to score the most points. To obtain the score YOU rank the teams by how confident you are a team will win its game.  EXAMPLE:  Say this week we have 17 games.  The team you are most confident will win you would ssign the number 17 and follow down to the team you are least confident in and assign that number 1.   We use the Monday night game as a TIE BREAKER.  The tie is broke by the closest to the total (that is the COMBINED score of the two participating tams) final score, without going over. If we were playing this is how my sheet would look;  My pick will be in bold Capital letters.  you can use circling, underlining, or highlighting.  I will show my correct points in Bold   This year I am making a change in the scoring.  YOU can adopt the new scoring or continue to use the old scoring. This year we get a negative score for missed games.  We will continue to get a positive score for correct predictions.  EXAMPLE:  LAST YEAR if you scored 1 pt on the first game and you had 15 pt on the second game you would still have a Positive 1.  HOWEVER. this year the same scenario would result with a -14 score. I will fill in my picks Thursday.  Until then feel free to: Just copy and paste for your own Fun Pool Use.  Or to see if you can beat me. Super Bowl XLV (Special Edition)

Super Bowl XLV   (Xtra Large Vista)? The eyes of almost all NFL fans are on Dallas Texas.  Who will emerge from the battlefield with the coveted title “SUPER BOWL CHAMPION’ Title of 2011?  The reason I said almost all NFL fans, Some are not real NFL Fans.  You have your TEAM fans.  If their team is not playing they just aren’t into it, and could care less. Unfortunately for the TEAMS  base fans.  they have to travel halfway. or more, across the US  to attend this event.  Face it fans would it not have been nice if Dallas and Indianapolis could have swapped years?  The proximity of Indianapolis to both Green Bay and Pittsburgh would have certainly made it easier to attend.  We can’t count the weather in this equation, as both cities have had plenty of bad weather.  However I must admit I believe the Hoosier State has more experience dealing with this weather.  The proximity of all facilities to Lucas Oil Stadium would have been a tremendous asset to visitors. But, now it is time for all to select a winning team.  Some will pick the Steelers because they are dedicated Steelers fans.  Others will choose the Packers, because they are Packer fans.  If you are not a Packer or Steeler fan you may have a favorite of the two. Or you may look at the stats and select a team.  Believe it or not some of you will wish for one team to win but if you were betting you would bet on the other due to statistics. As I look at the statistics they seem very equal, even though the Steelers have a better record,  remember neither team were supposed to be here according to the Experts. (Green Bay even more so). I look at the Steelers see an experienced Super Bowl Team.  A team with more power,  general experience, and a lot of desire to win another Ring. I look at Green Bay and I see a team that has overcome odds to reach this plateau.  I see a team owned by their fan base.  I see a hungry team with nothing to lose,  But most of all I see a team that has GREAT HEART. Because of that heart I give the win to Green Bay by TWO. That Is How I See It. Views: 107

Brett Favre to Retire??

Like many other Football fans I am wondering.  Will Brett Favre retire? I am of the opinion he will.  I think the one thing that kept him going was the most consecutive starts record.  With Peyton Manning breathing down his neck, he had to keep going.  But now after having to sit out a game or so, he doesn’t have time to start over.  By retiring this year, (really retiring), Favre will go out on top of the heap in all categories.  I think he has passed Jim Marshall for most regular season starts.  Marshall played 20 seasons and started 282 regular season games.  Favre had,  (I think), 269 before this season started,  thus needed to start 14 regular season games this year to take that title. I know how hard it is to give up something you love doing.  But I believe the time is right for Brett Favre.  I think Favre will retire from playing.  However he has a wealth of knowledge to pass on.  Will he just walk away from Football or will he find a new niche, a different job with another record to set.  We can only wait and see That Is How I See It.
