NFL Confidence Picks Week 8 Oct. 23-26-27, 2014

NOTE:  SUNDAY 1 st GAME IS 9:30 AM Many strange calls last week.  2 players ejected for contact with the Referee.  The way I saw it both instances were merely INCIDENTAL CONTACT.  I did not see any cause for the ejections, unless the REFEREES ARE TOO FRAGILE TO BE ON THE FIELD.    Then we had the unreviewed fumble which cost the SEAHAWKS.  I think even the RAMS fans,  if they are honest about it,  would have to admit SEATTLE recovered the fumble.  But it worked out okay for them.  BUT,  it does give one an idea the Referees have it out for the SEAHAWKS.  Last week they took the win away from Seattle.  So, YES, that will happen on occasion.   BUT two weeks in a row?   I personally have questions.    HOW ABOUT YOU?   2014 NFL Team Schedule For those of you who do not know how confidence ranking goes, let me explain. If we were playing an office pool,(which we ARE NOT).  The object is to score the most points. To obtain the score YOU rank the teams by how confident you are a team will win its game.  EXAMPLE:  Say this week we have 17 games.  The team you are most confident will win you would ssign the number 17 and follow down to the team you are least confident in and assign that number 1.   We use the Monday night game as a TIE BREAKER.  The tie is broke by the closest to the total (that is the COMBINED score of the two participating tams) final score, without going over. If we were playing this is how my sheet would look;  My pick will be in bold Capital letters.  you can use circling, underlining, or highlighting.  I will show my correct points in Bold   This year I am making a change in the scoring.  YOU can adopt the new scoring or continue to use the old scoring. This year we get a negative score for missed games.  We will continue to get a positive score for correct predictions.  EXAMPLE:  LAST YEAR if you scored 1 pt on the first game and you had 15 pt on the second game you would still have a Positive 1.  HOWEVER. this year the same scenario would result with a -14 score. I will fill in my picks Thursday.  Until then feel free to: Just copy and paste for your own Fun Pool Use.  Or to see if you can beat me. NFL Confidence Picks Week 7 Oct. 16-19-20,2014

Good WEEK.  A few disappointments, (of my personal allegiance), but isn’t that the usual case.  Some surprises.           Decided to put a “/” between running score to differentiate between the MINUS scoring   .and  the Regular scori Peyton  Manning has broken Career TOUCHDOWN RECORD.  509.  Just another day at work for Denver QB.     2014 NFL Team Schedule For those of you who do not know how confidence ranking goes, let me explain. NFL Confidence Picks Week 2

Okay!  So I didn’t do so well last week.  But in my defense  there were a lot of surprises, many upsets.  and the first week is always the hardest. It is the first time we actually see FOOTBALL play. Preseason is merely a scrimmage, with little emphasis on winning. 2014 NFL Team Schedule For those of you who do not know how confidence ranking goes, let me explain. NFL Week 19 Divisional Playoff 01/11-12/2013

Yes I Blew it again.  It is my one big weakness when it comes to the NFL Championship series.  Setting aside the Kansas City Chiefs at Indianapolis Colts game which was played indoors.  (Not outdoors, as Football was meant to be played).  I will always fall for that old COLD FIELD advantage.  The team based in a cold weather area has an advantage because they are used to playing in cold weather.  Looking back it seems to be that it is a hindrance.  Perhaps the cold weather team assumes it has an advantage, or the warm weather team prepares better, or both. One must also take into consideration, over the course of a season all teams play in warm climate, cold climate, and indoors.  Thus I am certain, (now) the COLD FIELD,Advantage no longer exists. I will fill in my picks  Friday.  Until then feel free to: Just copy and paste for your own Fun Pool Use.  Or to see if you can beat me. NFL Play Offs Week Three

I know there will be those of you who disagree with me.  That is ok.  This blog is for my opinion.  So you are allowed to have your opinions, too.  Feel free to comment.  If you agree or disagree with me. It just is my opinion there is only one team which earned there way to the “FINAL FOUR’  That team is San Francisco.  I am not nor have I ever been a San Francisco fan. (Even though I and they share something in common).  And no it is not California. The other teams seem to have “lucked” their way in. The only near competitor I see to San Francisco is New England.  No I am not a New England fan.  I don’t even know anyone who is. So I guess I am saying WHAT THE HECK are Baltimore, and Atlanta doing there.  A little SKILL and a lot of LUCK. So we now are looking at will LUCK, a MIRACLE cohesion of Baltimore or Atlanta.  Or will a complete break down of San Francisco, and/or New England Put Atlanta and/or Baltimore into the Super Bowl. One thing I think would be GREAT is an all HARBAUGH “SUPER BOWL”. That being said let’s get to my picks.
GAME, CONFIDENCE,RUNNING SCORE SUNDAY  01-20-2013 3:00 pm  (Your Local Fox Network Station) SAN FRANCISCO 28 @ Atlanta 24 2 (HIT 2),2,2 SUNDAY 01-20-2013 6:30 (Your Local CBS Network Station) Baltimore 28 @ NEW ENGLAND 13 1(miss 1),0,2
Final Score; 44  FINAL SCORE: 41 Only off by a field goal.  not bad. Good Luck Everyone.  Regardless (If you are like me and your favorite team has been eliminated),  Let’s hope for two well played games, and no run-aways.  Let’s enjoy the day. I UNDERSTAND THE SAN FRANCISCO COMEBACK WAS THE LARGEST COMEBACK IN PLAYOFF HISTORY.  I believe it was said previous biggest comeback was from 13 down.  And San Francisco’s comeback was 17.  Good job. San Francisco @ Atlanta.  Surprised me.  It was a good game from start to finish.  Probably the best officiated game of the season.  Atlanta started strong.  I must give the FANS credit for being behind their home team,  They helped the players a lot.  I could not believe this was the same team that had appeared to luck their way into the play offs.  But In retrospect I suppose if you luck your way as consistently as the Falcons did,  They had to have something else going for them too.  And it just seemed they finally came together today and had they had the previous show of luck they probably would have won. Good Job Atlanta. GOOD LUCK TO SAN FRANCISCO IN THE SUPER BOWL! Ravens got their act together tonight.  They out played the Patriots.thus setting up the hoped for face of brothers JOHN and JIM HARBAUGH. Big Brother (by what 15 months) JOHN and little brother JIM. Could prove to be interesting. Side note JOHN and JIM’s  brother-in-law Tom Crean is having a very successful year coaching INDIANA UNIVERSITY’S Basketball team. We know a Harbaugh will have a Super Bowl win.  Can brother-in-law Crean come in with a NCAA championship.   What a family meeting that would be One brother showing off his Super Bowl Ring, Brother-in-law Crean showing off his NCAA Trophy, and one Harbaugh saying I TRIED. Beat of Luck to both San Francisco, and Baltimore. Next week I believe is the Pro-Bowl.   I never watch that game.  Have no interest in it so you won’t see anything here about it. But I will be back for the Super Bowl       Views: 92

How Do You PIck A Super Bowl Winner

How Do You PIck A Super Bowl Winner? After talking to many people I have found many different ways, people use to pick the Super Bowl Winner, even down to the score. I, like probably most of you look at past performance, and the statistics, etc.  Some simply pick their hometown, (if they happen to be participating), team. Other may pick a team because they like a player,or because one the players came from their home town or state. But I know of one lady who won a football pool which included all the play off games.  She had also used this method to win three consecutive NCAA basketball office pools.  What is her favorite method of consistently  choosing winners?  Men this will make little sense to you.  Women it may make more sense to you.  HERE is her little secret.  The coaches of  each team.  Have you guessed it yet?   She looks at each coach, and selects the team with the more handsome looks.   Well it works for her.  Apparently. This next one was passed on to me from an Indiana resident.  Just last night, as a matter of fact.  He told me one of the local TV weatherman has chosen New York Giants by Nine (9).   According to his recount of the weatherman’s method is really  quite simple.  Are you ready for this?   Reportedly the temperature in New York; on Super Bowl Sunday will be 44 degrees.  The temperature in Foxborough ,will be 35.  A nine degree difference.  This would indicate a final score New York Giants, 44.  New England Patriots, 35.  Although my informant did say the weatherman did make this disclaimer.  He would not guarantee the 44-35 score.  Only the 9 point difference in favor of New York’s Giants. So whatever your method may your team win. If you are interested I can tell you the score right now before the game even begins …………..0-0  Right? I kind of lean toward the New York Giants.  I see a little more desire in their eyes.   But I see revenge in the eyes of the New England Patriots.   Will desire win out over revenge.  I feel desire will lead to the win,  because REVENGE can cause more mistakes, and if I am right the New England penalties, and errors will give New York Giants  the edge. That Is How I See It. Views: 199

Eli Manning Peyton Manning

It would seem the MEDIA has forgotten who is playing in the SUPER BOWL.   Hey you guys it is  ELI MANNING who is quarterbacking the New York Giants in the BIG GAME. Sure everyone is concerned about Peyton’s future in football.  But really little brother ELI should be the focus of your attention.  It is his moment in the sun.  LET HIM ENJOY IT !!! I could be wrong, but I do not remember Peyton being asked a bunch of questions about ELI when he was preparing to play in the SUPER BOWL.  Shouldn’t real sport journalists, be focused on the game at hand.  I’m pretty sure, by now, Peyton is competent to answer questions about himself after all these years in the spot light. Being a little brother myself, I am perhaps prejudiced.  I love my brother.  But can I enjoy a little attention regarding my accomplishments. Meanwhile, back at the MEDIA rooms, PATRIOT QB TOM BRADY is able to soak up all the glory befitting a SUPER BOWL QB. Please Sports Media.  Enough is Enough.  Give ELI MANNING the same respect as you give TOM BRADY.  Big brother, Peyton, will be around after the SUPER BOWL and will know more about which direction his future will take him. But now is ELI and the New York Giants time.  Just as it is Tom Brady and the New England Patriots time. That Is How I See It. Views: 207
