Confidence Picks, Week 11 11/19 ,22,23 /2015
What a S-T-R-A-N-G-E week. RIGHT ? It was like FRIDAY the 13th extended from Thursday to Monday. Any of you have a better explanation. I know I had my worst week in 20 years. By the way, HOW WAS YOUR WEEK? We saw 3 games with a single point margin. And one of those was a really late come back by the Mighty Patriots. They were, what like, 4 and 10, which they converted to get them to FG position. They were somehow able to get that much needed yardage. Luck, Skill, or a combination. I think it was a COMBINATION. And much more of the time than we like to admit, THAT is the difference between a W or L. The big QUESTION this week is……HAS PEYTON MANNING PLAYED HIS LAST GAME??? I think not. Do you think if he does come back it will be in a back up postition. NOT ME. Face it he has nothing to prove. He holds so many records. But having played sports myself, You always have that little voice saying ” ONE more Year”. But if you will remember; I thought Manning should retire before he left for Denver. I’m sure he will do a lot of thinking from now until next year. I really don’t expect an answer to be quickly made. BUT, I am sure if he decides he has not enough to contribute, to be competitive. He will make the choice to retire. But with all his knowledge, SOME ONE will want to add him to their coaching staff. NFL Confidence Picks, Week 10 11/12, 15,16 /2015
This week we saw 2 OT games. I separated by a mere point, and 5 by a field goal; or less. My week was a wash out, only getting 61% of the games correct. However we did get a good opportunity to compare the two scoring options. With the POSITIVE system I scored a mere 52 points. But if you notice with the POSITIVE/NEGATIVE system I only scored 9 points. In conclusion I must say the POSITIVE/NEGATIVE system seems to be a really more competitive system. Which do you prefer? NFL Confidence Picks, Week 9 11/05-08-09/2015
Last week summary: I missed 3 games. I scored 86% of points under the positive only system, BUT; only 64% under the plus minus scoring system. which means I missed some of my high picks. (Actually only one High pick, and it was a surprise to me. HOWEVER; it was an overtime game. HOW did the Falcons, allow the Buccaneers, to stay close enough to to even put it in overtime). By the way the Colts lost in OT to the Panthers. That makes 2 OT games. Is it just me or are we really having more OT games this year? We saw 4 games with a mere FG as the difference. ONE of them with a combined 101 points, (the Giants with 49 and the Saints with 52). Kind of seems like both teams’ defense had the day off. I had a really bad week, missing 6 games. We saw only 2 exciting games, both going into OT. The Bears and the Lions; and Broncos and Browns. Bear Vs Lions wasn’t too much of a surprise. Broncos and Browns was a big SURPRISE. We saw teams fall apart and lose big LEADS. The Seahawks once again blew a big lead. Hopefully they get their game back soon. There were some games which ended closer than they appeared during the course of the game. Seems some teams are getting a little overconfident when they have a good lead, meanwhile the other team is creeping up on them. NFL Confidence Picks Week 4: 10/01-04-05/2015
REMEMBER: EARLY GAME SUNDAY 9:30 am SUNDAY! We got to see a little better glimpse to the what the season may hold. There were a lot of key injuries, this week. For the most part we will have to see how long these key players are out. We know Big Ben Roethlisberger is expected to be out for 4 to 6 weeks. The question here is does does Michael Vick still have enough left in his tank to keep the the Steelers on the winning track. For Seattle will Marshawn Lynch heal enough to his old effective running self. On another note: We saw the Colts punter, Pat McAffee, turn a bad snap into a credible scurry for first down. It appeared he could have run the ball in for a TD. However; not a role he is used to playing, he perhaps, failed to see that opportunity. (Or maybe he just ran out of gas). But, now is the seed planted for a planned play like this to come about? As for my week’s picks I missed 25% of the games. THAT SUCKS. But now I guess it leaves me room for improvement. Did any of you do any better? Either Point wise, or Percentage wise? For those of you who do not know how confidence ranking goes, let me explain. If we were playing an office pool,(which we ARE NOT). The object is to score the most points. To obtain the score YOU rank the teams by how confident you are a team will win its game. EXAMPLE: Say this week we have 16 games. The team you are most confident will win you would assign the number 16 and follow down to the team you are least confident in and assign that number 1. We use the Monday night game as a TIE BREAKER. The tie is broke by the closest to the total (that is the COMBINED score of the two participating tams) final score, without going over. If we were playing this is how my sheet would look; My pick will be in bold Capital letters. you can use circling, underlining, or highlighting. I will show my correct points in Bold YOU can adopt the scoring described above. Or, the optional method. A negative score for missed games. We will continue to get a positive score for correct predictions. EXAMPLE: if you scored 1 pt on the first game and you had 15 pt on the second game and lost you would still have a Positive 1. What pitiful week I had. Just proves why they play the games. I used the numbers, and look at my poor score. Had I went with my gut instinct, I would have had only a slightly better week. Oh well, this is just for fun. (YEAH RIGHT) I hope you all did better. Of course if you are also playing a yearly pool….a week like this can really take a toll.
