NFL Confidence Picks WEEK 10 11/09,12,13/2017

For those of you who do not know how confidence ranking works, let me explain. If we were playing an office pool,(which we ARE NOT).  The object is to score the most points. To obtain the score YOU rank the teams by how confident you are a team will win its game.  EXAMPLE:  Say this week we have 16 games.  The team you are most confident will win you would assign the number 16 and follow down to the team you are least confident in and assign that number 1.   We use the Monday night game(last game) as a TIE BREAKER.  The tie is broken by the closest to the total (that is the COMBINED score of the two participating teams) final score, without going over. If we were playing this is how my sheet would look;  My pick will be in bold Capital letters.  you can use circling, underlining, or highlighting.  I will show my correct points in Bold YOU can adopt the scoring  described above.  Or, the optional method.  A  negative score for missed games.  We will continue to get a positive score for correct predictions.  EXAMPLE:   if you scored 1 pt on the first game and you had 15 pts on the second game and lost you would still have a Positive 1.  HOWEVER. with the same scenario new scoring system would result with a -14 score. I will fill in my picks Thursday.  Until then feel free to: Just copy and paste for your own Fun Pool Use.  Or to see if you can beat me. NFL Confidence Picks WEEK 7 10/19,22,23/2017

After Aaron Rodgers injury, rumblings have it that NFL is planning to enact a new rule to protect the QB.  Eventually it seems,  if things keep going QB’s and Kickers, will be like kick returners when they signal fair catch.  UNTOUCHABLE!  Then we will see free throws, handoffs, heck you might as well say the QB can run the ball all the way down the field for TDs.   What the NFL will not take into consideration is a defenders momentum is going to carry them on.  I have seen many times when a defender is trying to avoid contact, but is called for some contact penalty.   Personally I would prefer to watch AUSTRALIAN RULES  FOOTBALL..Lots more action.   Again the NFL is playing word games with the RULES.  They say “SHOULD” denotes a  ‘SUGGESTION’ NOT A RULE.  Lets look at this again. The following is from the Game Operations Department The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem. During the National Anthem, players on the field and bench area SHOULD stand at attention, face the flag, hold helmets in their left hand, and refrain from talking.  The home team should ensure that the American flag is in good condition. It should be pointed out to players and coaches that we continue to be judged by the public in this area of respect for the flag and our country. Failure to be on the field by the start of the National Anthem MAY result in discipline, such as fines, suspensions, and/or the forfeiture of draft choice(s) for violations of the above, including first offenses.   I am no lawyer so I use only plain English and not legalese. SHOULD.  If you are about to testify in court; you SHOULD tell the truth.  If you don’t tell the truth, you are guilty of PERJURY.  PERJURY carries various penalties. MAY.  This is where the “DOUBLE TALK”, comes in. Although the whole RULE/POLICY states what is to take place INCLUDING THE PLAYING OF THE NATIONAL ANTHEM.  If a team decides to NOT play the National Anthem; NO BIG DEAL.  The NFL has the option to ENFORCE or not ENFORCE.  Of course THEY  are’t going to fine, suspend, and/or forfeit draft choice(s) .  That would go against the owners. I have not watched a game; As I said I would not watch.  I haven’t bought any NFL products.  WHY?  The same reason I do not support Terrorists.  That may sound like an extreme comparison.  BUT neither the NFL, or Terrorists display patriotism to the USA.    For those of you who do not know how confidence ranking works let me explain. NFL Confidence Picks WEEK 5 10/05,08,09/2017

Hurrah!  For Vice President Pence.  Of course I doubt if he had to pay for his tickets to the Colts game.  BUT he did get up and leave after the 49’ers SHOWED their disrespect for the the country which allows them to earn WAY to much money for what they do.     I would like to see every stadium empty, until the NFL starts enforcing the Standing for the anthem “POLICY” which make it a violation with designated punishments.  They enforce them in regard to dress (Wrong Shoes, Wrong eye shadowing, etc. etc. They need to make it retroactive and receive punishment for each occurrence.  It “AIN’T” going to happen though. There are just  TOO MANY, apathetic people out there to miss a game or two.  I believe these people are UNPATRIOTIC  and if they were in the proverbial foxhole next to me.  They would not do a thing to help me; but you can be sure they would be looking to me for help.   Don’t even watch them on TV.  I don’t.   When the sponsors see the decline in exposure and drop in sales, THEY are the ones who can force them to enforce the RULES/POLICY.   The government should remove their ANTITRUST PROTECTION.  I sure don’t trust them. How many of your teams are supported by local government either building and maintaining the stadiums and other subsidies.  Just to have the NFL laugh in their faces by allowing their players to snub of country.     For those of you who do not know how confidence ranking goes, let me explain. NFL Confidence Picks WEEK 4 09/28 –10/01,02/2017

LET ME REFER YOU TO THIS LINK ON YAHOO>  to see the NFL explanation. https://www.yahoo.com/finance/news/theres-no-nfl-rule-players-must-stand-anthem-theres-policy-162020168.html You will notice the same POLICY listed their .  However NfL says “roughly” that their must may be a word  missing in the language of the policy because they claim  punishments “MAY” be assessed.  They just do not wish to assess them.  “THIER DISCRETION” So long {PICK AND CHOOSE WHICH RULES YOU ENFORCE} THIS SAME GAME OPERATION DEPARTMENT ADDRESSES THINGS LIKE PLAYERS UNIFORMS.  WHICH WE ALL KNOW SOME PLAYERS HAVE BEEN PUNISHED FOR. NFL, YOU ARE A FICKLE ORGANIZATION.  GOODBYE UNTIL YOU DECIDE TO ENFORCE ALL RULES.  ON A PICK AND CHOOSE BASIS.  IF YOU DON’T WANT TO USE ONE VOTE IT OUT.  BUT AS LONG AS IT IS ON THE BOOKS   USE IT! BECAUSE THE NFL REFUSES TO ENFORCE GAME OPERATION DEPARTMENT’S “policy”,  AND ONLY ENFORCE THE RULES, AND POLICIES AT IT’S WILL.  I WILL NO LONGER FOLLOW AND POST THE SCORES, ETC.  I WILL POST THE PICK SHEETS FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO THINK IT IS OK FOR THE NFL TO OPERATE IN THIS MANNER. Call it policy, whatever they want.  It does have VIOLATIONS AND PUNISHMENTS.  To me that is also a rule. IF THEY DO DECIDE TO ENFORCE THEIR OWN POLICIES, I WILL BE BACK. Now,  I am not smart like a lot of you.  Or the COLLEGE EDUCATED athletes.  So I really do not understand this “KNEELING PROTEST”  thing.  So I did some research.  This is what a trip to the dictionary told me. 1.  PROTEST: Noun.  an expression or declaration of objection, disapproval, or dissent, often in opposition to some thing, a person is powerless to prevent or avoid. If you don’t like the National Anthem.  You don’t have to listen to it.  You can do what I would be in favor of Petition to have it changed to “AMERICA”, or some more relevant song. If you don’t like our flag.  LEAVE!!!  Oh yes that is right if you leave you would not make all that BIG M-O-N-E-Y.  For playing a child”s game.  If you don’t like the politicians VOTE!   There is always something you can do to change it.   2. KNEELING:  Kneeling, similar to bowing, is associated with reverence, submission and obeisance, particularly if one kneels before a person who is standing or sitting: the kneeling position renders a person defenseless and unable to flee.  I see this as something a CHRISTIAN does before GOD.  Granted not all athletes are practicing CHRISTians.  (Although some seem to be thanking GOD when they make a good play).  They may be Muslim, who bow to Allah.  They be Atheists.  Or Idol worshipers.  Idol worshipers are those who worship inanimate things like MONEY, False Gods. ETC.ETC.  Thus by kneeling during the National Anthem they are paying Tribute to our FLAG and National Anthem. So you see my quandary?    HOW DO YOU PROTEST SOMETHING BY SHOWING REVERENCE  TO IT BY KNEELING ??????? As for protesting the POLICE actions.  The answer seems simple to me.  HOLD THE  POLICE TO THE SAME STANDARDS AS ANY CITIZEN. (I know this will never happen. But it should). I am not affiliated with ANY POLITICAL PARTY !! There is no room for politics in GOOD Government.  As anyone reading or listening to the news media, it is plain to  see they are still belly-aching over their candidates loss in the Presidential election.   Just this morning I was reading how they slant things to their perspective.  People read these things and think it is fact.  NO !  It is just their opinion not NEWS FACT.  Our President stated (I will not get the quote correct as the story has disappeared from all the news sources I read).  But here is essentially what President Trump said.  He disagrees with the “KNEELING PROTEST”  (as it is targeted at OUR FLAG an National Anthem). Which I agree.   BUT, there is always that BUT.  He said progress was being made on this issue as some teams knelt but STOOD for the anthem.  Showing that those players are not disrespecting the flag or anthem.  WHICH is how it is seen by the majority of people.    It seems the President needs someone to instruct him in the usage of words, so he is so clear about what he says it would make it more difficult for the media to twist (SPIN if you prefer), what he says. There is no rule in the rule book addressing the issue we are looking at. HOWEVER; “The league’s Game Operations Department uses the manual to govern the conduct of home clubs, to ensure they protect players and provide the conditions for a fair and fan-friendly contest,” reads the NFL’s website. “Clubs face warnings and other penalties for noncompliance.” The following is from the Game Operations Department The National Anthem must be played prior to every NFL game, and all players must be on the sideline for the National Anthem. Commissioner:  The ball is in your hands.  ENFORCE IT.  Or ENFORCE no rules.  ALL or NONE. Because Everyone involved knows this edict.  Actions should be taken RETROACTIVELY. A spokesman for the NFL says this is a policy, not a rule.  But it has punishments, and they call it a Violation. I AM SO CONFUSED !?!?? Remember me telling you about how the media doesn’t give you the whole story?  I just got another example.  My blog being small, and feeling more people dhould know about the Game Operation Department’s “Policy”.  I contacted a local TV station informing them of above mentioned POLICY. This is… Continue reading NFL Confidence Picks WEEK 4 09/28 –10/01,02/2017

NFL Confidence Picks WEEK 3 09/21,24,25/2017

New rules I learned yesterday. 1. FALCONS vs Lions.  If a knee goes down at the exact same moment the ball breaks the goal line plane; the TD is nullified.   (My thought is in the event of a tie, like this one, should rule in favor of the score).   I watched the replay many, many times and it appears the ball actually broke the plane before the knee went down.  But to give the officials a break I will say they most likely can’t see the ball crossing the line and the knees at the same time.  For them it is EITHER, the knee, or the ball.. 2. SEAHAWKS VS TITANS.  In the case of  the “Sherman Call”.  It is now against the rules to run into one of your own players.  It is SO OBVIOUS, and was in real time,  Sherman never even touched the offensive player.  He ran smack dab into his own team mate. For those of you who do not know how confidence ranking goes, let me explain. NFL Confidence Picks WEEK 2 09/14,17,18/17

For those of you who do not know how confidence ranking goes, let me explain. NFL Confidence Picks Week 1 09/07,10,11/2017

We have just been the notified the NFL has  OFFICIALLY MOVED THE BUCCANEERS – DOLPHINS GAME TO NOV 19 th HURRICANE IRMA FORCES SCHEDULE CHANGE *JUST IN: BUCCANEERS – DOLPHINS GAME WILL NOT BE PLAYED IN MIAMI SUNDAY.  NFL DEBATING WHETHER TO CHANGE TO A NEUTRAL SITE. OR RESCHEDULE GAME AT A LATER DATE.       Possible date would be NOV 19th.  Odd COINCIDENCE  BOTH Florida teams have that week as a bye. This would mean both teams would play 16 straight games with NO BREAK!!! There is a possible 3rd alternative.  The game could be played as an extended 17th week game.   Welcome to our 5th year of NFL CONFIDENCE PICKS  !!!!! This also marks the 98th SEASON OF THE NFL!! I would like to take this time to address the “Kapernick Conundrum”.   As an employer, I expect my employees present themselves in a favorable light.  Political views have no place at work.  I wouldn’t expect them to meet the customers in ragged, dirty shorts. ETC.  (I think you get my drift here).  What they do on their own time, as long as it is legal, really no business of my own.  HOWEVER: If their off hour activities cost ME money, THEN I would intervene and discuss the issue with them.  If no compromise can be reached, I may wish to move them to a not so public position; OR possible termination. If I am looking at a prospective employee it would be my due diligence to consider the impact of what may be perceived as a negative reaction to my business.  I may decide to hire them on a probationary basis.  I may in Mr. Kapernick’s case try him on a practice squad.  If I see no negative reaction, he may be moved to a more open position, and progress as I gain confidence in his not hurting my business. Almost EVERYONE, deserves a second chance.  Michael Vick got a second chance. We; no doubt, will see many errant calls by the field officials.  SOME legitimate, (after all they are human and can make a miss call).  Some wil most likely come from NFL RULE changes.  So be prepared for some mistakes, both from teams, players, and officials. Here is a list of the rule changes, as I understand them. New rule: Unsportsmanlike conduct/leaping What it means:  Outlaws the emerging strategy to leap over the line of scrimmage to block extra point attempts or field goal attempts.  New rule: Intentional fouls/unsportsmanlike conduct What it means: Teams will now be penalized 15 yards, and the game clock will be restored, if they commit multiple fouls on the same play in an effort to manipulate the game clock.  New rule: Stronger enforcement of penalties for “very egregious” hits What it means: The competition committee identified a handful of plays from the 2016 season that included hits so violent and so counter to existing rules that it wanted them “out of our game,” according to chairman Rich McKay. Referees already were empowered to eject players who committed those acts, and they will be encouraged to use that authority. If they don’t, the committee is recommending that the player be suspended for his next game even if it is a first offense.  New rule: Centralized replay review What it means: The final say on replay reviews and challenges now belongs to senior vice president of officiating Dean Blandino and his supervisory crew, who will work from the league’s New York command center. Referees will participate in the conversation via wireless headsets and a video tablet rather than the previous sideline “hood.”   The competition committee estimates that quicker review turnarounds could shave up to 1 1/2 minutes per game.  WHOOPEE !!   1 1/2 minute.  (I wonder what if any expense is increased to save SO much time). Possible new rule: Overtime shortened to 10 minutes. What it means: The idea is to limit the amount of additional snaps players are exposed to.  Possible new rule: Tweak in anti-celebration rules What it means:  Commissioner Roger Goodell wants to meet with a group of players before deciding how to verbalize the new approach.  For those of you who do not know how confidence ranking goes, let me explain.
