Hope you had fun.  I did SPECIAL NOTE:  SAN DIEGO @ OAKLAND  GAME TIME HAS BEEN CHANGED TO 23:30 SUNDAY NIGHT.  This is due to the Oakland  A’s  Vs Detroit Tigers 21:00 start.  They say it takes the ground crew about 24 hours to convert the field from a BASEBALL configuration, to a FOOTBALL configuration. NFL Confidence Rating Week 4 SEPT. 26,2013

Last week I hit 10 correct picks for an underwhelming 58.8%.  However I did reach the century mark in points..  Did ANYONE do better?  Surely someone beat me. The upset of San Francisco pulled off by the Indianapolis Colts really hurt my score.  Who else besides Colt fans thought they could pull that off? OH well that was last week this is this week.  I hope to do better this week. By the way….Note  The game between PITTSBURGH AND MINNESOTA:  (according to my notes will be special) This is going to be a tough week. Fifteen games, and I only had a seven ranking difference from lowest to highest with most only having a difference of 2 in ranking (my system). Welcome Back! Week 3 NFL 2013 Confidence Picks

SORRY for the delay.  Been Busy Riding My Motorcycle and the season snuck up on me. But now that I am back. I am raring to find out if I can improve on Last Years disappointing, account.  SO Join me and play along. See if you can beat me.   For those of you who do not know how confidence ranking goes, let me explain. If we were playing an office pool,(which we ARE NOT).  The object is to score the most points. To obtain the score YOU rank the teams by how confident you are a team will win its game.  EXAMPLE:  Say this week we have 17 games.  The team you are most confident will win you would assign the number 17 and follow down to the team you are least confident in and assign that number 1.   We use the Monday night game as a TIE BREAKER.  The tie is broke by the closest to the total (that is the COMBINED score of the two participating tams) final score, without going over. If we were playing this is how my sheet would look;  My pick will be in bold Capital letters.  you can use circling, underlining, or highlighting.  I will show my correct points in Bold
GAME, CONFIDENCE,RUNNING SCORE THURSDAY 09/19/2013 ;  08:25 KANSAS   26    @    Philadelphia  16,   8 pts,8 SUNDAY  09/22/2013 : 13:00 San Diego   17    @    TENNESEE  20, 9 pts,17 Cleveland  31     @    MINNESOTA  27, 11 pts,17 Tampa Bay 3       @    NEW ENGLAND 23 , 13 pts,30 HOUSTON 9  @    Baltimore 30, 5 pts,30 St. Louis  7       @    DALLAS  31,10 pts,40 Arizona  7        @    NEW ORLEANS 31 ,14 pts,54 Detroit    27        @    WASHINGTON 20,2 pts,54 GREEN BAY 30  @    Cincinnat  34i,7 pts,54 N.Y. Baltimore Ravens Win !!!

Perhaps the L-O-N-G-E-S-T  Super Bowl game in History. BALTIMORE’S RAVENS  bested the SAN FRANCISCO FORTY-NINER’S by a score of 34-31. Last night Championship was extended by a power outage.  I have read some say it was an external feed,  and another report that it was snafu inside the arena; an equipment failure.  Either way the side line announcers had the burden of filling in unexpected time. Another thing that made it seem longer to me was the half baked,…er time show.  I know many of you are Beyonce fans.  But I would like to have more entertainment than a bunch of women in their swimsuits jumping around and making noise.  I actually switched over to watch bits of a COLUMBO re-run. Now to the game.  Yes my Math and my Scientific methods both failed.  Therefore I could claim the Ravens win to be a fluke.  But that was not the case.  In fact it came down to, (as I said),  D-E-F-E-N-S-E. Baltimore brought their defense and San Francisco’s was running way late on it’s arrival.  I believe both QB’s did an excellent job.  I also believe had San Francisco got their defense together before the power failure.  They would have won the game.  But they didn’t, and they didn’t. The game hinged on the 108 yard return by Ravens’ Jacoby Jones.  There is no way that return should have happened.  The 49’ers defense left the whole field unprotected.  No one stayed back.  Just as in a high school game I watched this past season.  The kicker rushed down and tackled the receiver 5 yards after the catch.  But that was a mistake.  Even though he was able to do that.  His coach wasted no time in letting him know it was a mistake.  The rest of the season he stayed back and saved many potential scores. Flacco was GIFTED the MVP.  Yeah, he did a good job.  WAS it a better job than Kaepernick.  Not in my eyes.  The true MVP   was the Ravens DEFENSE.  But how do you give MVP, (the “P” is singular) to a group.  Thus you give it to a single person.  Jacoby Jones would be a fair choice, it was his run back that won the game.  But that was only one play.  The DEFENSE on the other hand was on thier game most all night. So I suppose as the QB is often considered the leader an Spokesman for the team, Flacco would be give MVP, on behalf of the team.  After all ,  as in any T-E-A-M SPORT,  one person can not win the game by himself. Congratulations to the BALTIMORE RAVENS.  And I want to compliment fans on both sides.  I have not seen any reports of rioting or anything.  This shows me their fans are (both Baltimore, and San Francisco),  are CHAMPIONS too. Hope to see you NFL fans back here again next year.  I have time to try to figure what I did wrong this year. I suppose the next big event is  NASCAR SEASON. and for some the NBA All-Star game.  I  don’t care for the All-Star game.  Because they don’t really have any BASKETBALL stars.  Merely Media Darlings.  I will go into my feelings about the NBA  at a later time. I may have opinions to share about NASCAR later. Looking forward to NCAA Basketball tournament.  will give my picks, updates and OPINION; just like i did last year. For now We close the book on: 2012 FOOTBALL,and the 2013 SUPER BOWL XLVII. One final note some of the commercials were good.  Some not.  But at least some got more exposure due to the 34 minute delay.  My favorite was, again Budweiser, with the CLYDESDALE COLT. Thank you for indulging me.     Views: 103

SUPER BOWL XLVII..MATH vs SCIENCE PICKS

It is finally here.                SUPER BOWL WEEKEND !!!!!! So here we are.  Two Teams, Two Cities, Two States. And for all purposes EAST COAST Vs WEST COAST.  Being played on the SOUTH COAST.  One Team being around since 1946.  (SAN FRANCISCO 49’ers). And a relative newcomer, A teenager if you will.  Being 50 years the junior of SF.  The Baltimore Ravens; established in 1996.  (Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Orioles),  Could this tell us BALTIMORE is for the birds.  (Sorry could not resist).  But I am sure Baltimore is all out for their two teams. My personal belief is the game will be decided not so much by the offense, but by the DEFENSE.  Baltimore will have to come up with a way to stop SF’s Offensive machine.  Primarily QB Kaepernick. I have come up with two different modes of predicting the winner of this confrontation.  One is my usual MATHEMATICAL system, taking into account the stats, and other variables.  (This has not worked really well for me this year, as you, who have followed my picks can attest). The other is a tried and proven SCIENTIFIC method. My MATHEMATICAL pick is……..(drum roll please)……. SAN FRANCISCO    by 4 SCIENTIFICALLY speaking The Winner will be ( if conditions are right) BALTIMORE.  however if the conditions are different we again must give the nod to SAN FRANCISCO.   seeing as Baltimore is in a colder climate.  San Francisco is in somewhat warmer area. Tomorrow we will have an answer. If the GROUNDHOG sees his SHADOW.  Baltimore will be the new SUPER BOWL CHAMPS. (By however many points they can manage)    HOWEVER!!!   If he does not see his shadow it will no doubt be    San Francisco. UPDATE:  Phil has made his prediction.  PHIL picks ……San Francisco Baltimore or San Francisco.  You now have my picks, WHO DO YOU THINK. Will my SCIENTIFIC METHOD PROVE to be better than my MATHEMATIC  method. Or will there be a coincidence between the two selecting the same team. Final Score 31 Enjoy your parties, the game, the COMMERCIALS. BY the way a side not here.  I have been informed the average cost for a commercial is approximately $133 333.33  a SECOND.  There will be about 48 minutes of commercials. (12 minutes less the game).  So we have, again do your own math; mine hasn’t been so good.  60 seconds in a minute times 48 = 2,880 seconds.  Times $133,333.33 = 3.8 something my calculator ran into an error. GOOD LUCK TO ALL AND MAY YOU ROOT FOR THE WINNER. P.S. I truly hope we have no one wreaking havoc because their team won or lost.  This I don’t understand.  It may be an important game to all football fans.  BUT, IT IS STILL JUST A GAME               and a Views: 96

NFL Play Offs Week Three

I know there will be those of you who disagree with me.  That is ok.  This blog is for my opinion.  So you are allowed to have your opinions, too.  Feel free to comment.  If you agree or disagree with me. It just is my opinion there is only one team which earned there way to the “FINAL FOUR’  That team is San Francisco.  I am not nor have I ever been a San Francisco fan. (Even though I and they share something in common).  And no it is not California. The other teams seem to have “lucked” their way in. The only near competitor I see to San Francisco is New England.  No I am not a New England fan.  I don’t even know anyone who is. So I guess I am saying WHAT THE HECK are Baltimore, and Atlanta doing there.  A little SKILL and a lot of LUCK. So we now are looking at will LUCK, a MIRACLE cohesion of Baltimore or Atlanta.  Or will a complete break down of San Francisco, and/or New England Put Atlanta and/or Baltimore into the Super Bowl. One thing I think would be GREAT is an all HARBAUGH “SUPER BOWL”. That being said let’s get to my picks.
GAME, CONFIDENCE,RUNNING SCORE SUNDAY  01-20-2013 3:00 pm  (Your Local Fox Network Station) SAN FRANCISCO 28 @ Atlanta 24 2 (HIT 2),2,2 SUNDAY 01-20-2013 6:30 (Your Local CBS Network Station) Baltimore 28 @ NEW ENGLAND 13 1(miss 1),0,2
Final Score; 44  FINAL SCORE: 41 Only off by a field goal.  not bad. Good Luck Everyone.  Regardless (If you are like me and your favorite team has been eliminated),  Let’s hope for two well played games, and no run-aways.  Let’s enjoy the day. I UNDERSTAND THE SAN FRANCISCO COMEBACK WAS THE LARGEST COMEBACK IN PLAYOFF HISTORY.  I believe it was said previous biggest comeback was from 13 down.  And San Francisco’s comeback was 17.  Good job. San Francisco @ Atlanta.  Surprised me.  It was a good game from start to finish.  Probably the best officiated game of the season.  Atlanta started strong.  I must give the FANS credit for being behind their home team,  They helped the players a lot.  I could not believe this was the same team that had appeared to luck their way into the play offs.  But In retrospect I suppose if you luck your way as consistently as the Falcons did,  They had to have something else going for them too.  And it just seemed they finally came together today and had they had the previous show of luck they probably would have won. Good Job Atlanta. GOOD LUCK TO SAN FRANCISCO IN THE SUPER BOWL! Ravens got their act together tonight.  They out played the Patriots.thus setting up the hoped for face of brothers JOHN and JIM HARBAUGH. Big Brother (by what 15 months) JOHN and little brother JIM. Could prove to be interesting. Side note JOHN and JIM’s  brother-in-law Tom Crean is having a very successful year coaching INDIANA UNIVERSITY’S Basketball team. We know a Harbaugh will have a Super Bowl win.  Can brother-in-law Crean come in with a NCAA championship.   What a family meeting that would be One brother showing off his Super Bowl Ring, Brother-in-law Crean showing off his NCAA Trophy, and one Harbaugh saying I TRIED. Beat of Luck to both San Francisco, and Baltimore. Next week I believe is the Pro-Bowl.   I never watch that game.  Have no interest in it so you won’t see anything here about it. But I will be back for the Super Bowl       Views: 92

NFL PLAYOFFS WEEK TWO

I  Passed up a perfect week last week.  And I may have not learned all that much.  Because once again I will go against the numbers, and question the numbers on another game.  Can you guess the two games in question? Going by they numbers my picks would be Denver over Baltimore San Francisco over Green Bay Atlanta over Seattle New England over Houston But now is the time you throw out all the numbers I am only confident about one game.  That being Denver over Baltimore. No doubt in my mind about this one.   With Manning healthy I believe the Ravens have little chance to advance.  However,  If Denver’s line falters and Manning is injured, and the score is close,  Baltimore has a grand chance to advance. San Francisco and Green Bay.  Green Bay has the more seasoned QB in Aaron Rodgers.  But Collin Kaepernick:   Where did he come from?  Perhaps the most surprising QB of this season.  He has saavy, Speed and a line that is capable of giving him the time he may need.  San Francisco, on the other hand has a fairly  awesome defensive team.  That leaves us with the question:  Which line will wear down first? Seattle and Atlanta.  The BATTLE OF THE “Angry “BIRDS.  Rookie Russell Wilson and Veteran Matt Ryan.  Ryan has played in in 3  post season games and lacks a solitary win.  He has so much to prove this game.  BUT…can he do it this time?   Wilson (the rookie).  When you consider what this rookie has brought to Seattle, with his march toward Rookie of the year.  Of course you know how much I like this QB.  I have to say he is the total package.  Although his game last week took a backseat to RGIII’s injury,  Is there anything he can not do.  Perhaps.  Is there anything his team would not do him.  Don’t think so.  He is a true TEAM Leader.  But here is that Veteran Vs the lone Rookie QB. Houston and New England.  Pretty much of a toss up for me.  Houston had a great season.  Clinched their playoff berth early.  New England, always tough.  Just a tough call and I would have to say a total toss up.  Houston has had a couple of off weeks so they should all be healthy.  However I have seen these off weeks hurt more teams than help.  HOW to call this one. First let me give you the picks if I played the numbers, and the confidence rating they would have received
GAME, CONFIDENCE,RUNNING SCORE Saturday 01-12-2013 4:30 pm Baltimore 38 @ DENVER 35 2 OT 4 (miss 4), 0,0 Saturday 01-12-2013 8:00 pm Green Bay 31 @ SAN FRANCISCO 45 2(HIT 2),2,2 Sunday 01-13-2013 1:00 pm Seattle 28 @ ATLANTA 30 1 (HIT 1), 1,3 Sunday 1-12-3013 4:30 pm Houston 28 @ New England 41 3 (HIT 3),3,6
Final Score 37 Now This is how I would most likely play it if money were on the line
GAME, CONFIDENCE,RUNNING SCORE Saturday 01-12-2013 4:30 pm Baltimore 38 @ DENVER 35  2 OT4(miss 4),0,0 Saturday 01-12-2013 8:00 pm Green Bay 31 @ SAN FRANCISCO 45 2(HIT 2),2,2 Sunday 01-13-2013 1:00 pm SEATTLE 28@ Atlanta 30 3,(miss 3), 0,2 Sunday 1-12-3013 4:30 pm HOUSTON 28@ New England 41 1, (miss 1), 0,2
Final Score 37  FINAL SCORE 69 Good Luck and may MY teams win. I guess I really missed the total score this time New England had more points than my Final Score . WOW !! What a game we started the day with.  Double Over Time? Baltimore played a good game, and got many a favorable call or no call.  Yes you have those in all games. As I had other business to tend to I have to admit to not seeing the entire game.  Only the half attention you pay when company (who does not follow sports) drops by.  Their business was important to them and I.  It seemed to me DENVER  made an abundance of miscues on their own, which contributed to their downfall.  These errors made the game about 14 points closer than it should be.  So with that said was it the seemingly aforementioned favorable call or no call.  NO.  It still came down to DENVER mistakes. As for the GREEN BAY-SAN FRANCISCO  game.  Sadly I must admit I was only able to see a couple of plays.  I usually only sleep 4 hours a day.  Then there are those days I may sleep all day and night.  I fell asleep about 8:30 pm and woke up this morning, by way of a phone call, at about 8:45 this morning.  NOT  sure I need that much sleep. So much for that.  Let’s see what today’s games bring. Disappointing game.  Seattle @ Atlanta.  I suppose we will never know who called the time out which eventually cost Seattle the win.  Seattle coach,Ref,Ump,Atlanta, Atlanta player, Seattle player.  My guess is the Seattle coach.  But sure seemed to be denying it. You may wonder, like I did, WHERE WAS SEATTLE’s Defense.  Well this is my story.  At the end of the third quarter I personally called to Atlanta and asked for the Seattle Defensive Coordinator.  This is what I was told, “I thought we played the 4:30 game”  That is my story anyway.  Then that last series the defense just stood watching , just like they did the first 3 quarters.  I Am sure you would have to chalk this win not up to the outstanding play of Atlanta, But to the lack of D-E-F-E-N-S-E by the Seahawks. Russell Wilson you may not be the media darling as is RG III. But you have proven yourself to be ROOKIE OF THE YEAR.   Small consolation to being SUPERBOWL CHAMPS.  However your team is young and I’m sure adjustments will be made in the off season to eventually get you that Super Bowl Ring. Houston Vs New England.  You watch this game and wonder “How did Houston get here to begin with. … Continue reading NFL PLAYOFFS WEEK TWO

NFL Confidence picks Dec. 22, 2012 thru Dec 23,2012

With another week behind us, and only a couple of weeks left; I am running out of time to find the correct formula.  I rarely scored under 100 points, when I played our office pool.  Now I can’t find that formula.  My old odds spread out into ten thousands space.
