Well, here are at either a stopping place or a pausing place. It depends on how things go, if anything else comes up. I have made my decision that it is not guns that need control it is PEOPLE which need control. For the most part, it would be control of the people who have no respect for property or life. I see no fool proof way to do this. BUT, it surely isn’t taking away the rights of law abiding citizens. I firmly believe in the right of each U.S. patriot to have a gun for self protection, (as well as hunting, and sport). (What I am going into now is the considerations of whether carrying a gun is for me. 1. Will I be comfortable with a weapon on my person? (in my home I am fine with). 2. Would I be able to handle killing someone? (Justified or not). I know some of you would consider it the same as killing in a war. 3. What about the financial responsibility? Just like farmer Tony Martin. Defending himself and property, yet taken to court by the criminal for injuries. Maybe I mistakenly take a good guy as a criminal, If I see a CRIME being committed. OR, accidental discharge. Other things I must consider include the fact, where I live, (in a small town), the probability of my needing it for defense is very, very low. But I would feel more comfortable with a gun to protect my family and friends. PROPERTY, does not mean that much to me. Where I would be more in need of personal protection is when we go to the BIG CITY, (where there are multiple murders each night, not to mention other crimes), for sporting events. We may need to walk many blocks to get the sporting event, at night, and you have the parking garages where it would be easy to be mugged. Usually the only employee they have is the one who collects the fees. Here is the big CATCH, we are not allowed to take a weapon into the arenas, and they don’t have lockers to stow any. I know. I have a pocket knife I have carried for over….well let’s just say the majority of my life. It has been lost and found so many times. Once I lost it over a thousand miles away. It was lost for about 3 years. A friend bought a truck with a title from that state, and while cleaning it up we found MY Lucky knife. But back to my point. Open the total length, handle and all is about 3 inches. I had to take it back to my car, or not see the game. Ridiculous, isn’t it? These are the things, I believe everyone, should consider. I may get a permit, whether I decide to get a handgun or not. Some of my friends have been known to forget one of their guns in my vehicle. If something were to happen and a police officer or game warden sees it…I’m busted for illegally carrying. That is what my retired Sheriff told me. One other thing, whether or not I decide to purchase a hand gun, I do not think getting some training would hurt. It might even help me make up my mind. I will think these things through and decide if I want to even own a hand gun. I have rifles, and shotguns, after all. That Is How I See It. Views: 124

GUN CONTROL: IS IT NEEDED? PART 3
Welcome back. I have taken a little longer on this part. I really wanted to know more about how gun control has worked for the countries, (and our own states with gun control). This is what I found out. It appears that the first steps taken by dictators is to seize full control is to: Suppress the basic freedoms. RELIGION, SPEECH, and RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS. We have already experienced attempt at all of these. The Supreme Court has taken it upon itself to MAKE/ALTER, (however you want to put it), the intent of our CONSTITUTION. Their job is to interpret not make up their own laws. An example of this would be if I were talking to a person from say Japan. I say, “Hello, it is nice to meet you”. The interpreter tells this person from Japan “Hello, why don’t you go back to Japan.” So you can see how the erosion of our basic rights IS happening. I remember Soviet Premier Kruschev saying, “We will bury you”. He gave no time line. Nor method of carrying this threat out. Back to the Supreme Court Justices. RE; the FREEDOM OF RELIGION. The intent of this RIGHT was very simple. The government shall not dictate any one religion. Example would be Pennsylvania founded by Quakers. Pennsylvania is not to make it a condition of Pennsylvania you must be Quaker to reside there. Or Utah to require you to be Mormon to live there. But as you have seen they have taken the whole concept and mis-construed it to say I don’t have the right to openly practice my faith in a government facility. They did this which changed one word of the this Amendment. They effectively changed “…FREEDOM OF RELIGION, to read. FREEDOM FROM RELIGION. See how one word can change the whole intent. No they didn’t physically change the word, just the way they interpret it. New York and especially New York City, Illinois (with Chicago). Washington D.C. and all the states with strict “gun control laws”, have a higher crime rate than states with laxer gun control laws. The United Kingdom confiscated all guns, (from law abiding citizens, according to the reports I have heard), has seen a 40% rise in gun related crimes. One English police officer said. “…Our job is harder. Only the criminals have guns… and they are more willing to use them.” One example I have heard of is about a farmer named Tony Martin. The story goes like this. Two men, actually a man and a teenager, broke into his rural home. Fred Barras, a 16 year old criminal had 29 convictions. Brendan Feraon, a 30 year old criminal, had 34 convictions. Fred Barras was fatally wounded. The farmer was sentenced to life in prison for murder. (The charge has been reduced to manslaughter, so he will eventually be set free). (Really? Life in prison for defending himself and his property?) Brendan Feraon, also was shot, and was sentenced to 3 years, but only served 18 months. Now Fearon is using taxpayer money to sue farmer, Martin for damages. Break into a home, then sue the victim for damages. It happens here. What is wrong with this picture? A criminal breaks into your home and then sues you for damage. Criminal definitely has an edge here. Authorities say Martin should not have used his gun, he should have yelled for help. He lived on a farm with no nearby neighbors. Who would have heard his cries for help at 2 in the morning. Those of us who live in towns and cities, Do you think someone in the house next door would hear you, or if they did; would they come to help you, or even call the police. Odds are the answer is NO! Australia, banned guns in 1996. The result there is as follows. ARMED ROBBERY, up 69%. ASSAULTS WITH GUNS, up 28%. GUN MURDERS, up 19%. HOME INVASIONS up 21%. So, instead of a decrease in crime we see an overall increase, of 137% The town of Kennesaw Georgia, actually passed a law requiring every household to have a gun. They immediately saw a drastic DROP in gun related crime. I don’t think I would like being told I had to own a gun, but I understand this law is not strictly enforced. But for the most part criminals will not risk being confronted with someone with a gun An unknown is just how much crime goes unreported. If there is no loss, or anything, (NO FOUL, NO HARM). No report. My conclusion regarding gun control is I AM AGAINST IT! Like (it seems is the majority of US citizens). I feel there should be some sort of control. But I really have no answer. The gun control I am against is the one which wants to take THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS OF LAW ABIDING CITIZENS away. The gun control to keep GUNS or any WEAPON out of the hands of CRIMINALS. That is the big problem. Law abiding citizens will obey laws. Criminals have no such regard for the Law. There will always be a black market. (A criminal element.) Criminals do not care where or how they get anything they want. For example, on the black market, a gun which normally sells for $600.oo may fetch upwards of $1500.oo. Where will the law breakers get that kind of money? Unlike you or me, and save up the money. They will steal it from the unarmed citizen. They will sell dope to your kids. Or they may even kill to get a gun. The police aren’t even exempt. They will still have guns. Simply walk up to one as a normal citizen, take a knife and stab or slit his throat. Now he has a gun and some ammunition. That is how dangerous the situation could get. One gun in the wrong hands, by this means, makes it easier to get more guns. A criminal will really have the… Continue reading GUN CONTROL: IS IT NEEDED? PART 3
ADULTS DESIRES GIVE BLACK EYE TO CHILDRENS DREAMS
I liken the hoax pulled by the ADULTS, behind the Chicago JACKIE ROBINSON WEST, LITTLE LEAGUE SCAM, as a form of child abuse. It is a shame when ADULTS, place their own pride, if you can call it that. Let’s say it is a shame when ADULTS, place their DESIRES, above the ideals founded behind something as noble as LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL. These ideals have been a long time basis for children to compete, and have fun all over the USA, as well as other countries. The sense of playing a game you love. Playing all out to overcome your opponent and get the “W”. But also enjoying the competition if you happen to get the “L”. Let me interject here. The one thing I hate in Sports is the word LOST. Few players are losers. Losers don’t leave all they have on the field of play. So it is one thing to get BEAT. Which means you gave it all you had, you just got out played. If you are a loser you know it, and you have to live with it. But if you get BEAT; keep your head up. Nothing to be ashamed of . Somewhere in the case of the Chicago Little League Organization, The adult leaders of this scam became lost. I don’t know if it was a money thing, (hoping to bring their area to the forefront, and amass some kind of new income for the area. Maybe their thinking was to gain some publicity for the program and maybe gain more backing for the area’s Little League Organization. I just don’t know what their thinking was. What I do know is the result was a big BLACK EYE for Chicago, Little League, and YES even our hero JACKIE ROBINSON. What a tragedy for all. But the biggest loss of all was the lain on the KIDS. The Kids who, I am sure were unaware of the way the the Adults behind the scam were using them. All the kids were good players, and seemed to be good sportsmen, (you always have one or two who, although truly good sports will let their exuberance get out of hand and appear to have a bad effect. You have this in all walks of life and at any age. But truly good sports regret it if they see it). I feel these kids most likely feel betrayed, by their adult leaders. Now instead of the adulation of many, these children will most likely feel the scorn, for the ACTIONS of the adults involved. Will those Adults? Most likely not. They will shed it like water off a ducks back. My Message to those kids, is BE BIGGER THAN THOSE adults. Learn from their mistakes and don’t repeat them. You were used as a tool for the EGOS of your Adult leaders. You will all be grown, and no one will think about your participation, only that there was a wonder team assembled, but by unscrupulous men. To the team who fell victim to the ruse. All I can say is I’m Sorry. We will never know if any one of the teams knocked out of competition by this scam, could have went on to win the “LITTLE LEAGUE WORLD SERIES”. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not taking anything away from the eventual Champions. They worked hard to get there, and they beat the Chicago team. I am aware of these things going on all over the place. I recall a few years ago witnessing it. It was a 12 year and under tournament. A team from Lexington Ky. came up and played. I can’t prove they were older. But most of them were 6 feet tall (at least). Some had mustaches. One had a little boy come up and (maybe called him Andy), but to the most of us around it sounded like Daddy. But boy could they hit. The game was played on an oversize field. These kids. many of them. were hitting one bouncers to the 308 foot left field fence. Needless to say they went undefeated through the tournament. In closing let me say the National Little League Association did all they could to atone for the mess. Let’s just hope everyone learned a lesson from this unfortunate event. That Is How I See It. NFL Season Wrap Up
Sorry for taking so long to post. Friday I came down with the Flu…..and well you know how that goes. A lot of ” BLECH”. Feeling a little better now.. Now back to the season wrap up. Yes I did pick SEATTLE to defeat the Patriots. Although I never got it posted. We all knew it was going to be a toss up. But unless you are a Patriots fan, I think everyone else had confidence the Seahawks would come out on top. I had figured the game would come down to last possession. WHICH it did. I think I am correct in stating that all season long we have had many surprise plays called by the Seattle Offensive Coaching team. For the most part THEY worked. Everyone marveled at how clever the Offensive Coaches were. BUT….Those calls were made when the team had nothing to lose, and everything to gain. Looking at the final minute of the game; we witnessed how accurately Russell Wilson could pass. We saw Jermaine Kearse, make a miraculous once in a lifetime catch. Setting up 1st and goal for the win and a TWO-PEAT for a young Seattle team. Marshawn Lynch ran the ball on the first play and came up 18 inches short of the game winning TD. The next play called in was a surprise to all. the ILL FATED TOSS. I understand the thinking behind it being a possible play. Patriots thinking like everyone else in the world…MARSHAWN LYNCH. So you pull a switcheroo and try a short pass. This takes time off the clock. and still leaves you two downs to go to BEAST MODE!!!!!. But apparently MALCOM BUTLER was ready for the play. Belichick must have been a little leary of the crafty Pete Carroll and threw in a safety valve just in case. And Thus WON SUPER BOWL XLIV. FOR the rest of us in the real world, we think WHY. Eighteen inches from the win. You have the BEAST. You have a very mobile QB. If you are going to call a non BEAST call let it be a QB SNEAK. Out of the many posts, by Hall of Famers, and armchair QB such as I. The logical conclusion is GO BEAST. I bet even the Patriots line had doubts they could stop Lynch from getting 18 inches three time in a row. So I must consider the pass call the MOST BONEHEADED CALL OF THE HISTORY OF PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL. That being said I can’t think of any other coach I would want in Pete Carroll’s place. He and his coaching Team have made so many great calls over the last 3 years….I guess everyone is allowed one mistake. On the flip side. The record books won’t show the coaches as the ones who got the loss. No you won’t see any one of their names there. Unfortunately what will be reflected in the record books will be a black mark against; WHO I consider the best QB of the last 3 years. It will say “RUSSELL WILSON, SEATTLE SEAHAWK QB THREW AN INTERCEPTION FROM THE FOOT AND A HALF LINE, TO LOSE THE CHANCE FOR A RARE TWO-PEAT, SUPER BOWL WIN.” How did you do for the season. I am not so proud of season stats. But here they are WEEK WON/LOST % 1 10/6 75 2 9/7 56 3 9/7 56 4 8/5 61 5 11/4 69 6 12/3 80 7 11 /4 69 8 12/3 80 9 11 /4 69 10 10/3 77 11 7/7 50 12 11/4 69 13 11 /5 69 14 12/4 75 15 12/4 75 16 9/7 56 17 12/4 75 WILD CD. 3/1 75 DIVISON 3/1 75 CONF PO 2 /0 100 SUPER BOWL 0/1 0 SUMMARY 181/84 68 So there you have my final blog, (Unless something very interesting comes up), on the NFL until next season. NFL Playoff Wild Card Confidence Picks Week 1 Jan.3-4,2015
I must say I was somewhat surprised by my own results this week. Just in: Buffalo Bills coach DOUG MARRONE has opted out of his contract. The out clause was activated by he sale of the team. Could a short hop to the N.Y. Jets be in order? Now we are at the CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES. “SUPER BOWL”. Last weeks HIGHLIGHTS: Houston’s J.J. Watt, became the only 2 time player to record 20 sacks in a season. To top it off his 20th sack also scored a SAFETY. Tampa Bay Buccaneers “won” the first pick for next years draft. Both Tennessee Titans, and Tampa Bay tied with a 2-14 record. HOWEVER the tie breaker ( whichever team whose opponents had the lowest winning percentage) favored the Bucs. Miami Dolphins Lamar Miller carried the ball from the 3 yd. line for a 97 yard TD. and cap 1000 yard season. Longest run was in 1983 when Cowboy TONY DORSETT, ran 99 yds. Following Dorsett is Green Bay Packers’ RB Ahman Green. Green ran a 98 yd. TD in 2003. In 1939 Packer Andy Urham also ran a 97 yd. TD. As of this writing, we know of 4 coaches who have been relieved of duty. First is the Jets’ Rex Ryan. Ryan has not finished above 500 the last 4 seasons. Will he land at Chicago? Atlanta Coach Mike Smith is looking for another job. Smith went 10-22 the last 2 seasons, and was 1-4 in post season. Chicago Bears’ Coach Marc Trestman, with a 5-11 season is out. So is Bears’ GM Phil Emery. I think this is a much needed move. I think, there should be more releases up the ladder. Jay Cutler took the blame much of the season for the Bears poor performance. However in all the games I watched the ENTIRE TEAM, Seemed somewhat amiss. I saw no real heart in their actions on the field. I’m not saying Cutler is the caliber player he is being paid as…. BUT I would most likely give him another year under new leadership. Then we come to San Francisco 49’ers. Will they be able to replace Jim Harbaugh. Probably not. But, the way I see it. Winning is secondary to 49’ers management. Much like the Indianapolis Colts when Jim Irsay took over. Irsay wanted to tell the coaches who to play what plays to run, etc. etc. It wasn’t until he learned to trust his coaching staff that the Colts started to do any good. I believe San Francisco’s management staff have yet to learn that lesson. AND we all know JIM HARBAUGH is no YES MAN! GOOD LUCK AT MICHIGAN COACH HARBAUGH. One last note. WHAT TEAM FINISHED THE SEASON WITHOUT A TD BY A WR? ….Kansas City Chiefs. Of course. Looking Ahead NFL Divisional Playoffs Saturday, Jan. 10 AFC: 4:35 p.m. (ET) Baltimore at New England (NBC) NFC: 8:15 p.m. (ET) Carolina at Seattle (FOX) Sunday, Jan. 11 NFC: 1:05 p.m. (ET) Dallas at Green Bay (FOX) AFC: 4:40 p.m. (ET) Indianapolis at Denver (CBS) For those of you who do not know how confidence ranking goes, let me explain If we were playing an office pool,(which we ARE NOT). The object is to score the most points. To obtain the score YOU rank the teams by how confident you are a team will win its game. EXAMPLE: Say this week we have 17 games. The team you are most confident will win you would assign the number 17 and follow down to the team you are least confident in and assign that number 1. We use the Monday night game as a TIE BREAKER. The tie is broken by the closest to the total (that is the COMBINED score of the two participating teams) final score, without going over. If we were playing this is how my sheet would look; My pick will be in bold Capital letters. you can use circling, underlining, or highlighting. I will show my correct points in Bold This year I am making a change in the scoring. YOU can adopt the new scoring or continue to use the old scoring. This year we get a negative score for missed games. We will continue to get a positive score for correct predictions. EXAMPLE: LAST YEAR if you scored 1 pt on the first game and you had 15 pt on the second game and was wrong you would still have a Positive 1. HOWEVER. this year the same scenario would result with a -14 score. I will fill in my picks Friday. Until then feel free to: Just copy and paste for your own Fun Pool Use. NFL Confidence Picks Week 2
Okay! So I didn’t do so well last week. But in my defense there were a lot of surprises, many upsets. and the first week is always the hardest. It is the first time we actually see FOOTBALL play. Government Cancels Redskins Trademarks
What Is Happening In The United States? Since 1937 (77 years) the Washington Redskins have played PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALL. They began in 1932 as the BOSTON BRAVES. From 1933 through 1936, They changed the name to the BOSTON REDSKINS. For 81 YEARS, the franchise has proudly carried the name “REDSKINS”. Now the GOVERNMENT, has canceled some of their TRADEMARKS. Why? Some lady complained. It is reminiscent (for me), of the little lady who bought HOT COFFEE at McDonald’s, then through her own error spilled the coffee, (I think she was drinking and driving. Can’t recall all the circumstances, so you may want to look that up). Anyway she in turn SUED McDonald’s because the Coffee was hot. ????? (What about common sense ). And won a huge amount of dollars, (maybe $1 million). That was the beginning of the “I’ll sue” era. Before that time No body would sue over small things, especially if it was their own making. But I stray from our topic here. We seem to be living in an era which allows the rights of the few trump the rights of the many. Now let me say this is only my opinion and to each their own. I ask myself if I were of American Indian descent, (and who knows, my family roots go to the 16oo’s here in the United States), would I be offended by the use of the name “REDSKINS”? I can’t see any reason why I would. I have friends who ARE American Natives., or at least are descendents, None of them have RED skin. They sure are proud of their heritage. The American Natives, aren’t necessarily NATIVE, But they were here before the big immigration. Before the Mayflower. I started to say Caucasians came. That would be an error on my part. According to the dictionary: CAUCASIAN: Pertains to Humankind as marked by FAIR to DARK skin, straight or tightly curled hair, light to dark eyes, And inhabiting Europe, parts of North Africa, and Western Asia”. Kind of sounds like our American Natives. doesn’t it. I think of the “Native American”, as it appears some of them prefer to be called, AS a proud nation who probably got along with their fellow tribes better than most of the peoples of the world. According to the story of “THANKSGIVING” was more than willing to share their land and teach the settlers how to survive. But as more settlers came they were “pushed around”, (for lack of a better word”. Their hunting grounds, their lifestyle threatened. They fiercely defended their land and lifestyle. They were a PROUD PEOPLE. That is why many schools, and sports team take a name like “Braves” or “Redskins, or “Indians”. Like their namesakes, they fight to protect their “ground” arenas from invaders from others who would like nothing more than to defeat them in their home areas, while protecting their own home ground” Yes this is nothing compared to what the original, as far we know, fought for. Lastly. I ask myself, “What would happen if they changed their name to “WASHINGTON WHITESKINS”. Would the non white Americans feel slighted, and feel they were not welcome? I can understand a group who protested, let’s say the WASHINGTON APACHES, especially if they had no Apaches on the team. That sort of sounds like false advertising to me. I think I would be proud to have a likeness or name of American Heroes, associated with a Sports Team. In fact I hereby give the Washington permission to use my Name as their team name, If they want to. These team names keep the American Indian in the eye of the public, and allow us to recall their history. The way things are today, without these team names, people would not remember the PROUD people who tamed this wild country, and made it safe for all. Even the descendents of those who poached their land. As much as I HATE to say this. I think the people who want to knock out these institutions must be ashamed of their heritage. If they want it stopped do it the right way and say no new TEAM names referencing The American Indian or their lifestyle. But to cause a fuss over teams who have proudly carried those names through all these years? I think is a terrible thing. That Is How I See It.. Views: 135
GUN CONTROL LAWS
This is my opinion regarding Gun Laws. You may agree or disagree, GUNS, have help given you that right. As for myself, (since my guns, and knifes were stolen many years ago), I now own only 1 gun. That gun is a J.C. Higgins 12 guage, bolt action, 5 shell in tube, 1 in chamber SHOTGUN. I once loved to hunt squirrel, (with my 22 rifle, not like some I knew who used a 4-10 shotgun) and rabbits with my Shotgun. The last time I went rabbit or squirrel hunting was with my Dad. We saw no squirrels, that morning. And the last time we went hunting together was for rabbits. There was a fellow we met there just coming out of the fields. He told us “good luck”, he and his dog saw not even one rabbit. We asked if anyone else was out there. He replied ” Nobody:, and cleared his weapon, and climbed into the cab of his pickup truck. That didn’t stop us. We walked every inch of that 80 acre farm, (I know fields are bigger than that now, but at the time it was the average size farm in our area). We saw nary a hare. Walking back to the truck, parked along the highway, we unloaded our guns, THEN we saw about 5 of those consarned critters run across our path, and I could swear I heard them laughing, Any way we came up empty both times. In the service I qualified with an M-1, M-14, M-16, rifles; M-1911 45 Pistol, M-60 Machine gun, , and M-1 Bazooka. I am a strict advocate for hunting guns, I have friends who hunt with a Colt 45. Tried it, didn’t like it. When it come to carrying a pistol for protection, I can understand it if the carrier is properly trained. I usually just carry a STUN GUN, and PEPPER SPRAY. I draw the line at assualt weapons. The only time they may come in handy is if we are attacked by another country, or, HEAVEN help us we must defend ourselves from attack by our own government. I’m not talking about defying our laws, what I am talking about is if our government goes berserk, like a Lenin, Hitler, or Hussein, were to try to overrun our country. What happens if Obama gets his way and we all have to surrender our guns. No more hunting, for one thing. But the biggest problem I see is who will have guns; then. The military, and criminals. The military needs them to defend our country and our rights. Criminals need them because they are too lazy to work, have no respect for others, and, Oh yes they can intimidate the average citizen. Why will the criminals have guns? Because they are CRIMINALS, they will get guns by hook or crook, as the saying goes. The average citizen will not have guns because….well because it is AGAINST THE LAW. The problem we have is there is no way to keep the criminal from having guns. They could issue a law that anyone found to have a gun be put to death. Even that won’t stop the criminal element from having guns. Accidents do occasionally happen. But from what I can see more people are killed (on purpose, or during a criminal act like robbery or something like that). There will occasionally be accidental shootings, there are also too many stabbings, Most of them are not accidents. I suppose we could arm ourselves with bow and arrow….But that didn’t turn out too well for our NATIVE AMERICANS. The CRIMINALS will still have guns. REMEMBER. In closing, I suppose I must leave it up to wiser people than me to solve the problem. As it stands right now I can definitely say I am against GUN CONTROL. Not only does it go against our CONSTITUTION, but there is no logic in the politicians or pro Gun Control components thinking. Of course how can I think of politicians think logically?
