NFL Confidence Picks, Week 7 10/22-25-26/2015

I had a really bad week, missing 6 games. We saw only 2 exciting games,  both going into OT.   The Bears and the Lions; and Broncos and Browns.  Bear Vs Lions wasn’t too much of a surprise.  Broncos and Browns was a big SURPRISE. We saw teams fall apart and lose big LEADS.  The Seahawks once again blew a big lead.  Hopefully they get their game back soon. There were some games which ended closer than they appeared during the course of the game.  Seems some teams are getting a little overconfident when they have a good lead, meanwhile the other team is creeping up on them. Hopefully I will see a better week, and WE all get to see better games.   One thing I have noticed over some period of time.  “IF MY TEAM WINS, IT IS A GOOD GAME”.   PROGRAMMING NOTE:  THE 9:30 SUNDAY GAME WILL ALSO BE STREAMED ON YAHOO! For those of you who do not know how confidence ranking goes, let me explain. If we were playing an office pool,(which we ARE NOT).  The object is to score the most points. To obtain the score YOU rank the teams by how confident you are a team will win its game.  EXAMPLE:  Say this week we have 16 games.  The team you are most confident will win you would assign the number 16 and follow down to the team you are least confident in and assign that number 1.   We use the Monday night game as a TIE BREAKER.  The tie is broke by the closest to the total (that is the COMBINED score of the two participating tams) final score, without going over. If we were playing this is how my sheet would look;  My pick will be in bold Capital letters.  you can use circling, underlining, or highlighting.  I will show my correct points in Bold YOU can adopt the scoring  described above.  Or, the optional method.  A  negative score for missed games.  We will continue to get a positive score for correct predictions.  EXAMPLE:   if you scored 1 pt on the first game and you had 15 pt on the second game and lost you would still have a Positive 1.  HOWEVER. with the same scenario new scoring system would result with a -14 score. I will fill in my picks Thursday.  Until then feel free to: Just copy and paste for your own Fun Pool Use.  Or to see if you can beat me. IF YOU SEE I MADE A MISS COPY OF THE GAMES AND TIMES FEEL  FREE TO EMAIL ME AND TELL ME I GOOFED. I had some requests from the people who copy and paste, for their own pool to move the network out of the score column.  I aim to please.  So I hope this is better GOOD LUCK TO ALL. NFL Confidence Picks, Week 6 10/15-18-19/2015

An EXCITING week.  3 OVERTIME GAMES.  2 GAMES DECIDED BY ONE POINT.  And 1 game by a field goal. As for my week kind of mediocre.  Some would consider it good, in that I only missed 3 games.  AND I missed the final score by only 1 point. Well maybe this week will behi better.    HOW did you do? NFL Confidence Picks Week 4: 10/01-04-05/2015

REMEMBER:  EARLY GAME SUNDAY 9:30 am SUNDAY!   We got to see a little better glimpse to the what the season may hold.  There were a lot of key injuries, this week.  For the most  part we will have to see  how long these key players are out. We know Big Ben Roethlisberger is expected to be out for 4 to 6 weeks.  The question here is does does Michael Vick still have enough left in his tank to keep the the Steelers on the winning track.  For Seattle will Marshawn Lynch heal enough to his old effective running self. On another note:  We saw the Colts punter, Pat McAffee, turn a bad snap into a credible  scurry for first down.  It appeared he could have run the ball in for a TD.  However; not a role he is used to playing, he perhaps, failed to see that opportunity.  (Or maybe he just ran out of gas).   But, now is the seed planted for a planned play like this to come about? As for my week’s picks I missed 25% of the games.  THAT SUCKS.  But now I guess it leaves me room for improvement. Did any of you do any better?  Either Point wise, or Percentage wise?   For those of you who do not know how confidence ranking goes, let me explain. NFL Confidence Picks Week 3: 9/24-27-28/2015

What pitiful week I had. Just proves why they play the games.  I used the numbers, and look at my poor score.  Had I went with my gut instinct, I would have had only a slightly better week.  Oh well, this is just for fun.   (YEAH RIGHT) I hope you all did better.  Of course if you are also playing a yearly pool….a week like this can really take a toll.  It will take a lot of good weeks to make up for this one. But this last week does emphasize the difference in the two scoring system.  With the +/–  scoring system I only scored 12 points. Good luck this week.   For those of you who do not know how confidence ranking goes, let me explain. NFL Confidence Picks, Week 2 9/17-20-21/2015

I was pleased with my picks, this week.  The first week is usually the hardest. It is the first time we actually see the teams play.  Several star players were injured; some will miss multiple games, some were merely out for the remainder of the game.  We saw the great Marshawn Lynch.  stopped in a crucial play.  The Giants coach lose track of opponents downs, and tell his team not to score.  An apparent misunderstanding between the kicker, and coach in an OT situation.  But all in all a pretty interesting week. With the headset controversy at the Patriots, game…..Well let me say it is getting hard to not  to put the team from New England as the N.E. CHEATERS.  After all we know,  that must be in their NFL contract,  a special clause.   New England can do whatever they want.  No harm will come to them. For those of you who do not know how confidence ranking goes, let me explain. GUN CONTROL: IS IT NEEDED? PART 3

Welcome back. I have taken a little longer on this part.  I really wanted to know more about how gun control has worked for the countries, (and our own states with gun control). This is what I found out. It appears that the first steps taken by dictators is to seize full control is to:  Suppress the basic freedoms.  RELIGION, SPEECH, and RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS.  We have already experienced attempt at all of these.  The Supreme Court has taken it upon itself to MAKE/ALTER, (however you want to put it), the intent of our CONSTITUTION.  Their job is to interpret not make up their own laws.  An example of this would be if I were talking to a person from say Japan.  I say, “Hello, it is nice to meet you”.   The interpreter tells this person from Japan “Hello, why don’t you go back to Japan.”   So you can see how the erosion of our basic rights IS happening.  I remember Soviet Premier Kruschev saying, “We will bury you”.  He gave no time line.  Nor method of carrying this threat out. Back to the Supreme Court Justices.  RE; the FREEDOM OF RELIGION.  The intent of this RIGHT was very simple.  The government shall not dictate any one religion.  Example would be Pennsylvania founded by Quakers.  Pennsylvania is not to make it a condition of Pennsylvania you must be Quaker to reside there.  Or Utah to require you to be Mormon to live there.  But as you have seen they have taken the whole concept and mis-construed it to say I don’t have the right to openly practice my faith in a government facility.  They did this which changed one word of the this Amendment.  They effectively changed “…FREEDOM OF RELIGION, to read.  FREEDOM FROM RELIGION.   See how one word can change the whole intent.  No they didn’t physically change the word, just the way they interpret it. New York and especially New York City, Illinois (with Chicago). Washington D.C. and all the states with strict “gun control laws”, have a higher crime rate than states with laxer gun control laws. The United Kingdom confiscated all guns, (from law abiding citizens, according to the reports I have heard), has seen a 40% rise in gun related crimes.  One English police officer said.  “…Our job is harder.  Only the criminals have guns… and they are more willing to use them.”  One example I have heard of is about a farmer named Tony Martin. The story goes like this.  Two men, actually a man and a teenager, broke into his rural home.  Fred Barras,  a 16 year old criminal had 29 convictions.  Brendan Feraon, a 30 year old criminal, had 34 convictions.  Fred Barras was fatally wounded.  The farmer was sentenced to life in prison for murder. (The charge has been reduced to manslaughter, so he will eventually be set free). (Really?  Life in prison for defending himself and his property?)  Brendan Feraon, also was shot, and was sentenced to 3 years,  but only served 18 months.  Now Fearon is using taxpayer money to sue farmer, Martin for damages.  Break into a home, then sue the victim  for damages.  It happens here.  What is wrong with this picture?  A criminal breaks into your home and then sues you for damage.  Criminal definitely has an edge here.  Authorities say Martin should not have used his gun, he should have yelled for help.  He lived on a farm with no nearby neighbors.  Who would have heard his cries for help at 2 in the morning.  Those of us who live in towns and cities,  Do you think someone in the house next door would hear you, or if they did; would they come to help you, or even call the police.  Odds are the answer is NO! Australia, banned guns in 1996.  The result there is as follows.  ARMED ROBBERY, up 69%.  ASSAULTS WITH GUNS, up 28%.  GUN MURDERS, up 19%.  HOME INVASIONS up 21%.  So, instead of a decrease in crime we see an overall increase, of 137%  The town of Kennesaw Georgia, actually passed a law requiring every household to have a gun. They immediately saw a drastic DROP in gun related crime.  I don’t think I would like being told I had to own a gun, but I understand this law is not strictly enforced.  But for the most part criminals will not risk being confronted with someone with a gun An unknown is just how much crime goes unreported.  If there is no loss, or anything, (NO FOUL, NO HARM).  No report. My conclusion regarding gun control is I AM AGAINST IT!  Like (it seems is the majority of US citizens).  I  feel there should be some sort of control.  But I really have no answer.  The gun control I am against is the one which wants to take THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS OF LAW ABIDING CITIZENS away. The gun control to keep GUNS or any WEAPON out of the hands of CRIMINALS.  That is the big problem.  Law abiding citizens will obey laws.  Criminals have no such regard for the Law.  There will always be a black market.  (A criminal element.)  Criminals do not care where or how they get anything they want.  For example, on the black market,  a gun which normally sells for $600.oo may fetch upwards of $1500.oo.  Where will the law breakers get that kind of money?  Unlike you or me, and save up the money.  They will steal it from the unarmed citizen. They will sell dope to your kids.  Or they may even kill to get a gun.  The police aren’t even exempt.  They will still have guns.  Simply walk up to one as a normal citizen, take a knife and stab or slit his throat.   Now he has a gun and some ammunition.  That is how dangerous the situation could get.  One gun in  the wrong hands, by this means, makes it easier to get more guns.  A criminal will really have the… Continue reading GUN CONTROL: IS IT NEEDED? ADULTS DESIRES GIVE BLACK EYE TO CHILDRENS DREAMS

I liken the hoax pulled by the ADULTS,  behind the Chicago JACKIE ROBINSON WEST, LITTLE LEAGUE SCAM,  as a form of child abuse. It is a shame when ADULTS,  place their own pride, if you can call it that.   Let’s say it is a shame when ADULTS, place their DESIRES, above the ideals founded behind something as noble as LITTLE LEAGUE BASEBALL.  These ideals have been a long time basis for children to compete, and have fun all over the USA, as well as other countries.  The sense of playing a game you love.  Playing all out to overcome your opponent and get the “W”.  But also enjoying the competition if you happen to get the “L”.    Let me interject here.   The one thing I hate in Sports is the word LOST.   Few players are losers.   Losers don’t leave all they have on the field of play.   So it is one thing to get BEAT.  Which means you gave it all you had,  you just got out played.  If you are a loser you know it, and you have to  live with it.   But if you get BEAT;  keep your head up.  Nothing to be ashamed of . Somewhere in the case of the Chicago Little League Organization,  The adult leaders of this scam became lost.  I don’t know if it was a money thing, (hoping to bring their area to the forefront,  and amass some kind of new income for the area.   Maybe their thinking was to gain some publicity for the program and maybe gain more backing for the area’s Little League Organization.  I just don’t know what their thinking was. What I do know is the result was a big BLACK EYE for Chicago, Little League,  and YES even our hero JACKIE ROBINSON.   What a tragedy for all. But the biggest loss of all was the lain on the KIDS. The Kids who, I am sure were unaware of the way the the Adults behind the scam were using them.  All the kids were good players,  and seemed to be good sportsmen,  (you always have one or two who, although truly good sports will let their exuberance get out of hand and appear to have a bad effect.  You have this in all walks of life and at any age.  But truly good sports regret it if they see it).   I feel these kids most likely feel betrayed, by their adult leaders.  Now instead of the adulation of many, these children will most likely feel the scorn, for the ACTIONS of the adults involved.   Will those Adults?   Most likely not.  They will shed it like water off a ducks back.   My Message to those kids, is BE BIGGER THAN THOSE adults.  Learn from their mistakes and don’t repeat them.  You were used as a tool for the EGOS of your Adult leaders.  You will all be grown, and no one will think about your participation, only that there was a wonder team assembled,  but by unscrupulous men. To the team who fell victim to the ruse.  All I can say is I’m Sorry.   We will never know if any one of the teams knocked out of competition by this scam, could have went on to win the “LITTLE LEAGUE WORLD SERIES”.  Don’t get me wrong.  I’m not taking anything away from the eventual Champions.  They worked hard to get there, and they beat the Chicago team. I am aware of these things going on all over the place.  I recall a few years ago witnessing it.  It was a 12 year and under tournament.   A team from Lexington Ky.  came up and played.  I can’t prove they were older.  But most of them were 6 feet tall (at least).  Some had mustaches. One had a little boy come up and (maybe called him Andy), but to the most of us around it sounded like Daddy.  But boy could they hit.  The game was played on an oversize field.  These kids. many of them. were hitting one bouncers to the 308  foot left field fence.  Needless to say they went undefeated through the tournament. In closing let me say the National Little League Association did all they could to atone for the mess. Let’s just hope everyone learned a lesson from this unfortunate event. That Is How I See It. NFL Playoff Wild Card Confidence Picks Week 1 Jan.3-4,2015

I must say I was somewhat surprised by my own results this week. Just in:  Buffalo Bills coach DOUG MARRONE has opted out of his contract.  The out clause was activated by he sale of the team.     Could a short hop to the N.Y. Jets be in order? Now we are at the CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES.  “SUPER BOWL”. Last weeks HIGHLIGHTS: Houston’s  J.J. Watt, became the only 2 time player to record 20 sacks in a season.  To top it off his 20th sack also scored a SAFETY. Tampa Bay Buccaneers “won”  the first pick for next years draft.  Both Tennessee Titans, and Tampa Bay tied with a 2-14 record.  HOWEVER the tie breaker ( whichever team whose opponents had the lowest winning percentage) favored the Bucs.   Miami Dolphins Lamar Miller carried the ball from the 3 yd.  line for a 97  yard TD.  and cap 1000 yard season.   Longest run was in 1983 when Cowboy TONY DORSETT, ran 99 yds.  Following Dorsett is Green Bay Packers’ RB Ahman Green.  Green ran a 98 yd. TD in 2003.  In 1939 Packer Andy Urham also ran a 97 yd. TD.   As of this writing,  we know of 4 coaches who have been relieved of duty.  First is the Jets’ Rex Ryan.  Ryan has not finished above 500 the last 4 seasons.   Will he land at Chicago?     Atlanta Coach Mike Smith is looking for another job.  Smith went 10-22 the last 2 seasons, and was 1-4 in post season.    Chicago Bears’ Coach Marc Trestman, with a 5-11 season is out.  So is Bears’ GM Phil Emery.  I think this is a much needed move.  I think,  there should be more releases up the ladder.   Jay Cutler took the blame much of the season for the Bears poor performance.  However in all the games I watched the ENTIRE TEAM,   Seemed somewhat amiss.  I saw no real heart in their actions on the field.   I’m not saying Cutler is the caliber player he is being paid as…. BUT I would most likely give him another year under new leadership.   Then we come to San Francisco 49’ers.  Will they be able to replace Jim Harbaugh.  Probably not.   But, the way I see it.  Winning is secondary to 49’ers  management.  Much like the Indianapolis Colts when Jim Irsay took over.  Irsay wanted to tell the coaches who to play what plays to run, etc. etc.  It wasn’t until he learned to trust his coaching staff that the Colts started to do any good.  I believe San Francisco’s management staff have yet to learn that lesson.  AND we all know JIM HARBAUGH is no YES MAN!   GOOD LUCK AT MICHIGAN COACH HARBAUGH.   One last note.  WHAT TEAM FINISHED THE SEASON WITHOUT A TD  BY A WR?  ….Kansas City Chiefs.  Of course.   Looking Ahead NFL Divisional Playoffs Saturday, Jan. 10 AFC: 4:35 p.m. (ET) Baltimore at New England (NBC) NFC: 8:15 p.m. (ET) Carolina at Seattle (FOX) Sunday, Jan. 11 NFC: 1:05 p.m. (ET) Dallas at Green Bay (FOX) AFC: 4:40 p.m. (ET) Indianapolis at Denver (CBS)   For those of you who do not know how confidence ranking goes, let me explain If we were playing an office pool,(which we ARE NOT).  The object is to score the most points. To obtain the score YOU rank the teams by how confident you are a team will win its game.  EXAMPLE:  Say this week we have 17 games.  The team you are most confident will win you would assign the number 17 and follow down to the team you are least confident in and assign that number 1.   We use the Monday night game as a TIE BREAKER.  The tie is broken by the closest to the total (that is the COMBINED score of the two participating teams) final score, without going over. If we were playing this is how my sheet would look;  My pick will be in bold Capital letters.  you can use circling, underlining, or highlighting.  I will show my correct points in Bold   This year I am making a change in the scoring.  YOU can adopt the new scoring or continue to use the old scoring. This year we get a negative score for missed games.  We will continue to get a positive score for correct predictions.  EXAMPLE:  LAST YEAR if you scored 1 pt on the first game and you had 15 pt on the second game and was wrong you would still have a Positive 1.  HOWEVER. this year the same scenario would result with a -14 score. I will fill in my picks Friday.  Until then feel free to: Just copy and paste for your own Fun Pool Use.  Or to see if you can beat me. NFL Week 17 Confidence Picks Dec. 28, 2014

WHOA!  What a week.  I always hate this time of the season.  You never know if a team will play to win, or to rest players.  It appeared this week most teams played for the win.  I would suspect that most teams will play to win this week.  The closeness of so many teams much weighs heavy on them this week. Although I don’t like it.  I think it is right.   We could see an 11+ team not reach the play offs; and a possible 8- team in.  To me;  it does show parity in the conferences, (not necessarily in the leagues).  Some of you may think a re-alignment is in order.  But, then, maybe two years down the road the weaker teams get stronger and the strong teams get weaker.  Then what?  Re-align again.   No!  I believe it will work out in the long run.    It is too bad that a team that works hard and has a better record may be left out. 2014 NFL Team Schedule For those of you who do not know how confidence ranking goes, let me explain If we were playing an office pool,(which we ARE NOT).
